He is probably trolling since the majority of the community got really "mad" since they started to consider adding third person view. However, I think we will have first person and third person and also the ability to toggle between them (which doesn't make ANY sense for me and is bad for the game, in my humble opinion).

Sarcasm, for its part, can make use of irony to make an observation or remark about an idea, person or situation. Sarcasm is generally intended to express ridicule or reservation of an expression or idea. Because of this, sarcasm tends to find more broad usage than irony.

Why would the worst of the three options be picked? If you have a third-person camera option, it's not optional because anyone in first person can't peek around walls or see behind themselves. A toggle makes less sense than forcing either.

Now, it could be a toggle for now if the next experimental patch included it or something, but I'd imagine it'd be one or the other by the time we hit beta.

Eating your own fecal matter and playing a game in 3rd person are soooo unbelievably uncomparable. That's like saying you wouldn't like a food without trying it because you wouldn't like your shit without trying it. That food isn't your shit, neither is 3rd person camera.

I'd be fine with third person only. I understand why they might do it, actually - first person viewmodels are incredibly hard to do right in Unity (while avoiding clipping with things).
Toggle is bad idea though. I used to play a counterstrike clone called Critical Strike. The "server" operator had the ability to enable and disable third person for that match. You have no idea how many utter noobs would scream and shout at the server operator to enable third person just to give them an advantage.

The funny thing is... They can do whatever they want. Everyone can say "oh the community is pissed about it" but at the end of the day, it's their game to change. People will still play. Hell I would, it would still be a cool game. I just find it funny how many people think the "community" of a game has any control over it.

The gunplay is phenomenal. It takes skill unlike most other modern fpses like battlefield and cod where you can just hold down lmb and win.

As much as I don't like it when it comes to 3rd person view, you are right, of course. Thing is, I had a very high opinion of Garry so far, since all the changes and decisions he made to the game made sense to me, because I could see how they will benefit the game. Now, with 3rd person view that's entirely different. I really don't see how this might improve Rust in any way, at all.

Give me an argument. There is more recoil then any other fps I have played. Spraying is useless except point blank. Headshots are difficult but rewarding aswell. The only other modern shooter that takes more skill that I can think off is counter strike.

Maybe we can talk about WHY 3rd person view would be bad instead of just saying we don't want it.
I'll start, being able to peek around corners takes away from the immersive game elements that make rust heart-pounding and exciting

It isn't much harder to aim in this game than BF4. Maybe a little harder because you can't spot.

BF sniping takes more skill than Rust sniping
BF ARs at medium range take more skill than the M4 at medium range
BF pistols take considerably more skill at short-medium range than Rust

No. In battlefield guns require little to no recoil control. There is like no recoil. I can spray an AR in battlefield at 80 meters pulling down barely and land most of my shots.

Maybe you should take 2 minutes to search the forum and find the topic where people debated that already . There's no surprise at all ,it promotes camping, no risk when you peak , you can just see what's behind a wall or to the left or right of it , it makes the game easier and by that it ruins the fun .

Maybe they're not talking about third person VIEW, maybe they're talking abour third person MODELS. Still first person view but with third person model, like in TF2 with the oculus rift thing. Makes sens, less work for artists: only one model per item, plus you can see your feet

Only you can't do that but OK. Please post a video of you spraying an entire clip at that distance and hitting 90% of your shots. I'll wait.

I think he's referring to a fully rendered 3rd person body w/ a first person camera attached to probably an eye bone or something, used so you can see your body when you look down, also used in Oculus Rift development but mostly to streamline animation changes.

It means there is no first person model. Everything is done on the same full model. The problem with this can cause bugs like the below.. (The first person rig showing up in third person).

I also want to reiterate that third person is goin to require much more resources animation wise to be acceptable. The persons avatar is always in their face, so things like eating, crafting, and even more detailed resource gathering would have to be implemented to be acceptable. Plus they also would require more clothing and making holstered weapons show. Third person games HAVE to make the back interesting. I would argue its more work than first person.

Most teams who do this have a large art team.

Finally of course as mentioned before, people will go with the easy system. If third person allows clipping over rocks and such, thats what servers will use, thus limiting people who want FPS to servers with low populations.
