Does anyone else seem to play rust then leave rust for awhile and end up coming back to it?

If so explain your reason i am curious.

I guess i do it because new content gets added or servers get wiped and its fun to start over again and not get mowed down by groups of 15s running in full kev.

I played Rust pretty solidly when I first got it and took a few short breaks, mostly when it broke my heart - which was often. Server wiped, raided and murdered in my sleep, and so on.

Recently I am taking a longer break. I'll definitely be back after an update or two. Great game. Can't wait till there is more of it.

Similar story for me: played pretty much non stop the first few weeks I got it (other than sleep and my job), racked up 100 hours on a server I liked, lived through a couple wipes, had a ton of resources/guns, built a giant base with friends and begged people to try to raid it to see more action. We were on top of the world! Eventually, it became boring on that server since the challenge wasn't there.
Then I just stopped playing. Since then, I've logged on 2 or 3 times to see the updates (when they took zombies out, see the new rocks, sky, etc). I'll come back when there's more to do, but it went from exhilarating to boring in the matter of a few weeks. I'll always look back favorably on those first few times... To describe it in a word, just "magic".

Last time i played was 2/9/2014. I was able to beat my addiction by playing on the deathmatch servers (the ones that give you full kevlar and all weapons when you spawn). So after doing deathmatch for a few days i lost interest completely in the game. It's like getting a chance to play rust without all the wasted time needed to get to the top-tier, and then seeing that there's nothing left to do once you mastered the best weapons.

I play arma 3 now and am totally addicted/enjoying it. It's quite the experience.

ah myself i played arma 2 the hell out of it neally 1000hours on dayz.

I keep looking at arma 3 but haven't decided whether to get it or not as it is $60 dollars and with that 60 dollars i can spend that on aleast 2-5 games that i would more time on it if didn't enjoy arma 3.
What do you focus on on arma 3 and is it alot better than the mod in many aspects or do you play other things like minigames island life etc.
i brought dayz SA which was a waste of my money played around 2 hours of it and got end game within 30mins so didn't see a point in continuing that.

Also what is the community like on arma 3, personally im am disgusted by the rust community and dayz community.

Well i'm still new to arma 3 (49 hours in), and to be clear i never played arma 2 or dayz so i don't know in what ways arma 3 is better|worse. I do think it was worth the money however, the first time since BC2 and BF3 that i can say that.

Anyway so far i spent most of my time in this "Domination" server, which is just a sandbox of any weapons loadout and vehicle and randomly spawning AO's to fly to. This allowed me to learn how to play for the most part. Now i'm playing on a "Resistance" server, where you spawn in with a limited kit and have to collect weapons and vehicles from the dead enemies. The convoy's we do from village to village are half the fun in my opinion. I know there's also zombie servers and other server-mods, but have only scratched the surface of arma 3.

I wish arma 3 had more reasons to use the underwater stuff + minisub. I'd love to see Dr. Evil style underwater habitat AO's and Thunderball-scale diver-vs-diver fights. I'm sure we'll see this at some point lol

Rust is always going to end up the same way. You build a shack, you get supplies, you get a big unraidable base, you raid people, you get raided, you die, you rage, you quit, you get back a month later or so because of the new content.

I've been playing rust every day since december but I'm now ready to take a break. I think I need more content to keep me going. Awesome game though. Gonna play tonight a bit but I'm getting a bit bored...

    exactly same as me lol.
    get supplies die to hacks
    or get raided
    rage quit join another server
server dies randomly quit for 2 weeks
    new content play again
    and from the top again.

mostly likely because end game is so easy not the lack of content.

like built 200 stories + 2 foundation house never got raided got bored...

Same story here. I'll play until the server I'm on get's wiped. Raiding I can get over, since I have like 4 bases. But if my Admin wipes the server, I'll be pretty discouraged.

I'll probably chill out and play a different game until the next update comes out, an then I'll be addicted again.

I've stopped playing a few weeks ago.
And I won't play till there are some more features that will get the game a soul and some more difficulty.
Everything feels pointless at the moment and it's absolutely no fun for me. And everything is way too easy.
