One thing that Rust seems to be missing is player interaction, other than the obvious mass slaughter of naked noobs. What I mean by player interaction are things like stick-ups. I point a gun at you, you put up your hands, I search you and take your items, then I still slaughter you for the lols. Maybe another thing could be trade, kind of like Borderlands 2. If you are close enough to a person that isn't going to headshot you from fourteen miles away with a bolt action, you should be able to trade them. You could trade items, guns, ammo etc. Maybe there could be taunts in-game, like in Team Fortress 2, or even DayZ. You could salute, wave your arms in the air like a rabid mad man signalling for help, high five that bandit that blew your house up, or maybe even do the worm, because who doesn't like to do the worm?
Just another unrelated idea I had would be a flare gun. Sure, we can throw them, but not very far. This would also allow us to shoot oblivious naked noobs with a hot projectile going at 500 mph. Just an idea, though.
I know what you mean. I used to run around being a cop, until I realized I would die every time from some guy with a bolt action or M4.
That's why I joined the server Long Haul cause now I can at least screw around and know that some kid who just started isn't going to kill me with an M4.
Actually, Un1ver5al is right too, I found there is a lot more trade going on because weapons and bullets are rare, most people go out asking or trading for them. Obviously there is a risk to it but at least you kind of know what you are up against on that server.
