One thing that Rust seems to be missing is player interaction, other than the obvious mass slaughter of naked noobs. What I mean by player interaction are things like stick-ups. I point a gun at you, you put up your hands, I search you and take your items, then I still slaughter you for the lols. Maybe another thing could be trade, kind of like Borderlands 2. If you are close enough to a person that isn't going to headshot you from fourteen miles away with a bolt action, you should be able to trade them. You could trade items, guns, ammo etc. Maybe there could be taunts in-game, like in Team Fortress 2, or even DayZ. You could salute, wave your arms in the air like a rabid mad man signalling for help, high five that bandit that blew your house up, or maybe even do the worm, because who doesn't like to do the worm?

Just another unrelated idea I had would be a flare gun. Sure, we can throw them, but not very far. This would also allow us to shoot oblivious naked noobs with a hot projectile going at 500 mph. Just an idea, though.

You do realise pressing "V" allows you to speak, right? Global chat can be used to trade?

I like your suggestion for a flare gun, although possibly not the use...

I would like to be able to investigate someone's pack (stick-up). This could be beneficial for both parties. Me, because I'm going to get the ore I need and the naked bec hes gonna get to keep his hatchet and bow if hes a good little boy.

Without this I have to kill them to know they are not holding out on me :(

I think I'd want to instantly kill anyone who was able to initiate a UI menu on my screen, regardless of the available options it gave me. If you need a multiple choice menu to work out whether you're gonna run/fight/talk to everyone you meet then try some Fallout. Its a great Single Player game.

I don't know why so many people want to add more menus and mechanics to help people do things they can already do.

If you want to hold someone up, then run up to them, keep your sights on them and yell "DON'T MOVE!" on voice chat.

Frankly, if I was on the other side of that situation, I would NOT comply... I mean, if I'm going to lose my stuff that I've worked for then I'm going to put up a fight, not just wuss out and give it all over.

As for trading, we can trade, it's sketchy, sure, but so is a lot of trading in real life.

I know what you mean. I used to run around being a cop, until I realized I would die every time from some guy with a bolt action or M4.

That's why I joined the server Long Haul cause now I can at least screw around and know that some kid who just started isn't going to kill me with an M4.

Actually, Un1ver5al is right too, I found there is a lot more trade going on because weapons and bullets are rare, most people go out asking or trading for them. Obviously there is a risk to it but at least you kind of know what you are up against on that server.

So much easier to just kind of shoot them isn't it?

A stance for surrendering could work so that when you choose to do it, the animation of the player changes so that he'd lie down, unable to use his weapons, until he decides to stand up which would take a couple of seconds to do. When in this stance, you'd also become lootable.

Edit: all of this is mostly pointless though, until they actually decide to make bullets hard to obtain/craft so the more convenient option isn't to shoot everyone on sight.
