How about everyone just get over it?

Yea, that sounds like a plan.

To the server admins: Just don't reply to them. It's obvious that they're just butthurt about whatever happened and the more you reply about it the more people see the thread. Just ignore them.

To the players: Get over it. I don't care what happened and neither does anyone else. As soon as you start calling other people "childish" and "whimsical" then you instantly lose my respect and I'm not going to take anything you say seriously.

To everyone: This thread is getting dangerously close to a server advertisement. I'd recommend trying to get it back on-topic.

Oh no! I've lost your respect? LOLOLOLOLOL. And this thread has been a server advertisement from the get go, posted by the server owner's friend to promote it.

    such disrespect.. wow.

I know Sievers, I just felt like I needed to explain the situation since he was dragging our servers' name through the mud. I have no intention on feeding the trolls further, just wanted to state my case. Thanks for taking time to comment on the situation, I know you probably have better things to do so I really appreciate it.

I feel that I should tell you that I'm not a mod or anything lol... just some loser that spends way too much time on the Rust forum.

I haven't really played all that much Rust lately but I'm curious about this server now, maybe I'll give it a shot. Never played on an econ server, I'm naturally opposed to mods but who knows...

Yeah its pretty fun joined it yesterday. I like the econ mod, it also makes it very tempting if you want to live the life as a bandit because not only do you get the persons items you get 75% of the money they have collected. You can also put bounties out on people, which is neat.

However research / tech it is very slow, research kits are very rare along with higher tier weapons. Also most ammunition has to be purchased through the econ mod so people don't have ENDLESS amounts of bullets to spray and pray.

Anyhow see ya on the server hopefully

This server sounds amazingly fun especially for someone like me who has terrible aim with most of the military/automatic weapons :) Ill be joining it shortly.

On topic, hopefully with future updates such as base defences, stronger building materials such as stone, farming and other fun stuffs the endgame will be much more of a time consumer than it already is :)

The admins are constantly tweaking numbers to keep it fun and fair. Also most of the people are friendly, you get bandits, but that's when you put a bounty on them and I go find em :) It's a nice community so far.

Ugh, had a whole story written out but i was going off topic lol basically i wanted to ask what the admins stand on base griefing is. Such as building foundation, walls, metal doors onto other player's houses, namely known bandits' houses?

They have the /remove mod installed so if someone does that on your foundation you can do it yourself. If you where greifed they would remove it if you couldn't I would imagine. Either way you always have a way to get out of your house due to the /remove switch.

Thats good, still allows building of temporary structures when raiding or blocking off their entrances when going for a siege.

lol. I would just like the mods to know that Rusty is not in anyway affiliated with this server. Other than being a fan.

The admins aren't paying him in M4's or bolt actions.

Sooooo this is a bad time to talk about my late C4 shipment :)

Haidz building beside someone's base I would see as fair as its a way to raid a base, however F1 grenades are no-craft, and can only be bought on the econ mod for 10K a peace which is expensive. C4 is also no craft and can only be found in air drops at LOW drop %, so essentially if someone is blowing into your base, they have been saving for a LONG time, or they have some serious hate on for you.

Also since c4 is so hard to come by if you pillar up the sides of your base people can't do the typical round about ways to blow into your walls as F1 grenades follow the laws of gravity and will not stick around long enough to blow the wall. It also takes 11-12 grenades to blow a wall/door.

Think of it this way, if someone builds a stair well beside your base, you knock it down after, and you have 1 free foundation and 4 pillars built for you. Plus they probably wasted a small fortune to try and raid you.

Also as Popcornjoey has said I'm not an admin, just a member with spare time to answer questions :p

You should become an admin so that you could look at the code for the plugins all day long and your boss will think you're a super hard worker.

Sadly, at McDonalds over here, if I get caught looking at a computer I get thrown on the fryer duty :(

Same here... I have timers that I run to record how much time I spend on different projects and issues.

If only they knew that "Store support" was essentially "call a couple stores then spend 30 mins on FP".

Sounds like consulting work. I left consulting work a few years ago when they where tracking my bathroom time. One day I came out of the washroom and my scheduler asked where I was for the last 15min. I told him to mark it as CompanyName-PoopTime. That's when it was time for a little change :P

Lol not consulting, I just like to keep track of my time for reporting. No managers are looking at my recorded times or anything...

    Anyways, off topic lol.

To the OP (and kind of to wrap this up, I guess), I believe that the amount of time and effort required to get all kitted up will be lengthened drastically. For now things are more common than they'd normally be to expedite testing and whatnot...

To anyone who hasn't seen it, read through this AMA Garry did on reddit. It'll give you a pretty good idea of some stuff that they want to add/experiment with.

I agree with you and I hope they do.

I was just saying that I wanted to play Rust a certain way and I found a server that had a similar vision.

If I'm going to put time into the game then I at least hope I get some sort of return. The slow gameplay is ideal and it remains balanced. I only mentioned the server because of the fact that the admins had a similar vision and were open to adapting to input of the community.

I personally never played modded servers before because I thought it was like going to Burger King and getting a Chicken Sandwich. You shouldn't change the original recipe but I found that after logging so many hours Rust got boring.

I wanted something that I could invest into and is balanced.

I'm on steam chat. Just added you.

    I think that was HynotizD.

You missed out on it last night, the church people attacked the casino. It was pretty epic. I should edit, it was a pistol war with one bolt action with 6 bullets.

The server got wiped last night though because there was a corrupted plugin :(

awww damn. That would of been fun :) That would of been some good looting.

    Awww well we will rebuild.

Depending on what happens with the other server I was playing on. My group might migrate over as I think the server is dead. It wiped the other night and its populations where still stupid low. Not to mention one group got an air drop on day 1 and got c4 / explosives already. Now they are raiding everyone's 1x1's so I suspect it won't be long till that server is completely dead.

    no killing fresh spawns....
now that's why i go out farming naked, because people are stupid and will either leave you alone or think you are unarmed.
lol @ that rule + "fresh spawn" definition

Well lets tell this story how it was shall we.

The server is not a carebear server(Full PVE), the admins just didn't want you killing fresh spawns or greifing people to drive them away from the server. They warned you multiple times to apply by the rules but you killed him and laughed. The admin killed you and blew open your door then left. I ran by(as we had a few fights prior) noticed the door was open and looted your stuff. There was never other walls blown, or stuff built around your door.

Now I would of rather the admin put a high bounty on your head and let me keep killing you and your cronnies for money in the econ mod:) however, he did it his way as he is trying to build a niche community and prevent people from leaving the server.

If you really had an issue with it, you should of manned up built another little 1x1 or 2x2 somewhere and kept being a bandit while following the rules of the server.

The admin's on this server are trying to build more of a friendly server however PVP(Bandit-isim) is permitted but the rules are no greifing or fresh spawn killing.

I actually kind of like the bounty system :) Anyway, if your looking for non stop pvp action / greifing this server may not be for you, just saying.

I had some good fights with ya tho, safe travels

Garry has already stated and had a mock up model of what they want to do to fix this. Eventually models will be in to show when you have a weapon on you compared to being naked. This will help with that a lot. What I meant by that was the guy just spawned in and was naked, then poped in the head. When advertising a "Friendlier" server and you spawn in to get shot in the face, people leave. This is what the admin was trying to prevent. Its a hard line to walk due to the current model limitations.

Definitely a good idea, but surely if someone's going to kill you, won't they be more inclined to do so if they can see that you're definitely unarmed? This is why concealable weapons would be good, perhaps a hint at them being there on the body somewhere along with an equip-time penalty or something?

The way to make concealable weapons work would be holsters as a clothing item, that way to cover them up you'd need to actually be wearing clothing :D

Obviously, only certain guns could be concealed. Drawing them should have a distinct animation and be slower than drawing from an open holster.

Could even have it so different types of clothing would make different types of guns concealable, for example an ankle holster wouldn't work with cloth pants, where a long coat would let you hide a sawn-off.

Also think inventory size should be decided by carrying a backpack or the type of clothing you're wearing, nakeds might only have a couple of slots, cloth would give you a few pockets, simple cloth bag gives you more room etc all the way up to coats/pants with pockets and proper backpacks. Not entirely realistic but at least you would be able to tell the real nakeds from the ones on a gathering run.

Another easy fix for this prior to the clothing idea would be the model only changes if you have weapons in your hot bar. If you don't have them in your hot bar you appear unarmed. This would give naked people the ability to conceal a weapon at the disadvantage of the time it would take to drag the gun to the hot bar and fire it if things get hectic.

However the best option for concealing would be to make it only possible if the person had clothing on. AKA at least full cloth

Only the people that want to KOS everyone would still do this. The people that kill for protection purposes wouldn't(AKA naked as a pipe shot gun and shoots you in the back of the head when your are not looking). I would say it would reduce the KOS nakeds by at least 30% assuming they implemented it properly.

Having the character appearance change more to represent the currently equipped and carried items, I like the sound of this. Plus everyone one the server wouldn't look the same as naked dude / rad suit man / leather guy or Mr. Kevlar.
