    So what I was thinking is,
    Traders-there could be a town where the traders would be, and it would be an actual shop. To earn money, you could sell wolf skin, resources, even maybe oil? You could build drills, and drill the oil out?

    Outposts- there would be little towns (no more than 4 small buildings) where there would be AI Hero group. You can run their and they can tell you the directions to all rad towns and places to avoid. You can also tell them where maybe a bandit lives etc so they can tell you to avoid that too. If your having trouble, and running away from bandits, you could run their and they would open fire at them, but in some occasions they don't have to kill them. Simply scare them away.

    Search party- A group of AI walking around the island looking for survivors. They could give you some basic gear. (Pistol, leather, clothing, food, etc) They would live at the Outposts.

    I would like to see the game like that, but I don't know what you guys think. If you forum users could improve this idea in any way, go ahead and do it.

    Its a good idea, but what's stopping you doing something like that yourself? Can't you be the AI party that helps survivors, or sets up a protected area?

    I'm sure that resource gathering and production will change, and if we have a need for oil (like generators for example) then a way to obtain it will be implemented.

    Its currently safe enough to get a pile of wood or rocks as a single player, but imagine mining methods that needed more than one person to work, and on from that building methods that require groups of people to complete.

    I think it would be better if there was AI. And not you doing the job. And also oil can be used for Oil lanterns? I think what else be cool if we could actually make mines, and dig into mines, to find gold and sell that for money

    Why do you need oil lanterns so much? We have torches already right? I do agree that we should be able to place them down though. I know there's a lot of you out there with chests full of them, for various reasons...

    Glod would only be useful if we had access to high-tech biochemistry labs, huge dental plans and supercomputers (unless there was a DEEP underlying storyline where we were being tricked into mining it for some kind of alien overlords). I suppose you could plate your rock so it was more shiny? I probably would do that myself if it was available, but there's other things I'd like to see first.

    You can create any system of currency within any supply/demand situation, but by keeping it user defined, you can avoid the market becoming one sided and controlled by too few people. The value of any commodity will change day to day, hour to hour, based on how many people need it versus how difficult it is to obtain and how much is deemed to be available/accessible.

    AI is currently great in SP games, I'm not sure how things are gonna work when MMO and decent AI start to co-exist. Gonna be a blast tho!

    Dude I said use gold for currency, so you can buy more stuff... Oil lanterns so we can hang them up inside the houses and out side.

    I like your ideas really,especially search party.Also since Torches are not so durable compared to real life one so oil lantern is a good idea especially if we can hang em on our walls or pillars.

    Sorry, I like the "you're on your own" element of the game as it currently exists. I don't need some AI to hold my hand.

    I've done this, really rewarding experience. Found a big decayed base (3x3, 5 stories) down to the pillars and foundations, only 2 or 3 walls remaining. Started out fixing up the top floor for myself (was lone-wolfing it at the time) when someone who had literally just bought the game came on to the server and was global chatting about dying of starvation, getting killed by wolves/other players all the time, etc etc. Told him to find the road near the base I was using (Rustmap is awesome) and I set him up his own room 1 floor below me. From there he got used to general gameplay, and together we fixed up the whole house and fortifyed the bejeesus out of it, purely for the purpose of using it as a refugee center. turned into a 7x7 6 stories high with lots of 1x1 rooms filled with new people/struggling people. Was an awesome community, made a lot of good friends that way. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a new way to spend your time in Rust.

    Similar to epoch i guess.
    But safe zones is stupid in epoch and it would be the same in rust unless you have to depoist your weapons before entering.
    or if you bandit the safe zone you will not allowed to trade for awhile untill the npc/ai forget who you are or you die on that current character.

    But if you have ever played on a server with the /buy /shop feature they get boring easy as you can buy full kev and m4 by spending 10mins killing stuff.

    so there would need to be some really good currency system that works well and harder to get as-well.
