I play on a 100+ player a day server. Is it normal that my 1x1s get raided while I sleep IRL every with out fail no matter how well hidden my shack is?

Although I'm having fun it is beginning to get stale farming enough to get my self set up again.

I occasionally team up with some friends but as I play odd hours due to family and work commitments this is usually only Friday and Saturday nights.

It isn't that hard to raid a 1x1 shack.

Are you putting a metal door down instead of a wooden door?

You are right. Hence I thought that people might ignore the 1x1s more as the server is littered with houses.

Yes, I've only used wooden doors this far.

I'm just wondering if I should give up on the idea that I can play alone and only play when my mates are on?

please research just a LITTLE about the game before you post a thread like this. part of the issue is that you're using a wooden door, maybe you havent noticed but every other house has a metal door for a reason. you're also playing on 100 man servers. you really could have figured this out alone

Yea wooden doors can just be bashed down by anyone with a rock, it's a sweet way to start on a new server, just find a small shack with a wooden door and take everything for a head start.

Use metal doors, also if you're going to make a 1x1 make sure it's well hidden.

OK. So I'll stick it out and try a metal door.

My issue is the farming. While it's fun to farm while trying not to get shot it gets old after an hour or 2.

Yea it's tough to gather on populated servers, just try to keep a watchful eye and if someone sketchy shows up just run; trying to fight with all of your freshly gathered resources probably isn't worth it.

You may want to build a new house somewhere else, since there are obviously some people who already know where your little 1x1 is.

A little heads up, don't build a shack and sleep in it if you're worried about being raided. Rather build a 1x1 wooden structure with a foundation with a metal door as wooden shacks can even be chopped down with a rock.

I've literally never walked past a building with a wooden door and not broken it down. It's just too easy. Takes like 2 minutes, and you can get some really great stuff.

I don't fancy myself much of a raider at all, but opportunities like that are just too good to pass up.

Yeh, houses with wooden doors are just to easy to break into. Someone was nice enough to build two 1x1's outside my base last week with wooden doors, was a nice easy 150+ planks, 1000+ metal, and a few guns :D, I think they ran outta time, the metal was in the furnace....waiting to be turned into a door I guess... eaaasy loot, not every time, but enough to justify taking a minute to knock down the door :D

tip: dont build a shelter. build a foundation with 3 walls and one doorway at least.

I would suggest playing on a server that has around 40-60 ppl if you're solo. you can not hide in a server with a 100 pop. 1x1's are a prime target for easy raiding even with a metal door. you have to build more then that. your casual game play would be more rewarding on a smaller server and you will still have to watch out for pvp.

The wooden door is def the issue, even if I'm just out farming and I see a wooden door I'll stop and break it down.

Suggestion: try playing on a smaller server, the 100 players servers have many players who are well-established and ready to raid. The other thing is you have to put metal doors on a base. You should also go and look around at other bases to see what they are doing to not get raided. Many will have multiple layers and foundations. You will want to build with "padding" making it difficult to raid your base. If you don't want to die so easily or be hassled when farming, i would suggest living in areas that aren't heavily populated or have high traffic. Try out the hacker valleys, they are full of nods and have plenty of room to build, with low traffic.

Shelters + wood doors can be broken down quite easily. Don't use them as a permanent defense, use them only when building up resources then immediately replace with a 1x1 with a metal door whenever you can.
