Recently i've discovered the game; Into the long Dark.
it's a true survival game where you fight the fierce nature while trying to survive.
Have to wait until December to play the game. That's the date i found at least.

While learning about this game, i realized that it was this that Rust was missing.
If Rust had this, it would make the game so much better. You wouldn't have to wipe the servers 24/7. You wouldn't have people coming and going every day.
You would actually have people trying their best to survive. Maybe even work together. The gameplay would change alot. I believe for the better.

That being said. I'm aware it's an Alpha. I didn't expect it to have reached what the devs want it to be yet. But i just hope they go in that direction. I think that is what Rust needs.
    Or similar to The Forest.

I'm a big fan of Rust. I have the hours to prove it. 300+

Keep up the good job Devs.

I just want to point out that while the website is called into the long dark, the name of the game is simply The Long Dark. I kickstarted that project awhile back, and while Raindrop was looking very promising and was not funded, the developers behind that project have joined Hinterland to help make The Long Dark that much more interesting.

Rust is in very early Alpha, it will have more survival elements eventually, but The Long Dark is a single player experience (so survival elements were key for early builds for them, but net code is much more useful to iterate on for Rust). Even if the developers themselves don't go the same route of having survival elements being so crucial to your existence, there will undoubtedly be mods that run along the lines of what Frostfall brought to Skyrim once the game has gotten closer to release. Rust, as it stands, is somewhat troublesome to mod for given the volatile nature of the games code. If these sorts of mods were introduced now, they would require constant maintenance in order to keep running with the latest code when any significant patches are released.

So, whether or not vanilla Rust will wind up being as survival oriented as The Long Dark, there will undoubtedly be servers configured to provide that same sort of an experience.

The forest really looks like it'll be great to play and loads of fun! Although I will wait till they make it co-op or multiplayer before I do play it as there are already too many single player horror and survival games.

I really hope that either the Devs take PVE in a similar direction as Frostfall, or that server mods come available further along the line, as you said. That mod was incredible, I feel that something similar to it in terms of balance and mechanics would, as OP described, change gameplay immensely, probably for the better.

    Fingers crossed!
