The community is full of spammers, 5 year olds, hackers, place copiers, teamkillers and spawnkillers in fighting places, assholes and all other bad stuff

There for sure seems to be some people that have some real issues with women. I mean who cares if she said she was a girl, can it really bother you so much that you think you need to respond.
Ohh yeah and not to derail the thread, it depends. I have seen all types of good and bad so that's kinda how it is in life an the internet. This forum is a bit hard core but that's by design as you can see by the rules and how many bans get posted. I love it that if some idiot responds (u mad bro) they would get banned.

Natural Selection 2 also has a poor community. If you're a noob on that game, everyone will just kick you off of the server. It's pretty awful. People scream at you and call you names if you don't know how to play.
But it still pales in comparison to Rust, both in game and on these forums.

Ah yes I remember league of legends...I played my first 'normal' (pvp) game on there, and was placed against people with over 1000 games played. Needless to say, I wasn't even aware of basic tactics used in pvp (like last hitting) and was treated pretty badly for ~30 minutes.
This game community is different though. I expect to be treated like shit in-game because that is how you survive. People even go to lengths of crying 'No wait don't shoot please!! I'm friendly I'm friendly!" then as you go to run away, they pull out a shotgun. So that is why you have to KOS usually, it's not about being a dick, it's for survival.
The forums are a lot more 'toxic' than the actual game in my opinion. At least ingame, you have a reason to be a complete asshole.

Well there are so many jaided players because of players who KOS no matter what. So basically what happens is you have some noobs coming around and asking for tips and what not....you help them out make an alliance then the next kid you come accross asks for help then shoots you in the head while your getting him food and he takes all the resources you just spent an hour gathering and you become a KOS'er like all the other KOS a-holes lol.
The best way to have a decent community and server is build up a good size group with some killers who all agree to leave nakeds alone and new players alone. Warn everyone on the server when you are raiding and when your group has kevlar on to try and keep your distance lol. Also air drops everyone is game. To be hosest this worked really well on a couple of servers I was on and we protected a good group of people but we always ended up getting banned sooner or later because a couple of the guys I roll with are really good and get called hackers and we get booted from the server.
anyways long story short get a large enough group together that if you get some bullies in the server you can wipe them out.

I thought you were here to make sure that we all knew that you were a real, for serious, no kidding guys, girl on the internet. You've mentioned it enough. Reallyguy's point was simply that your gender is irrelevant to conversations about Rust -- who are you to say you're archetypical of all women? Or that women can even be framed in that way?
You make the case for the girl-gamer stereotype, seemingly for attention. I've never volunteered my gender on these forums because I'd rather my ideas speak for themselves, and if I ever do, it won't be as pointlessly as you did in this thread.

I for one am glad you defended him. Awesome. You can be who you are, I will be who I am? I don't pretend to be some random anonymous person that is rude because I am totally hidden and unknown. I'm nice, personable, and upfront with who I am, including being a woman. I like to let people know where my ideas come from, not just here is an idea, rate it "dumb" and have a good day!
Sorry. If being real is a bad thing and stereotypical, then okay. In real life we don't walk around with cloaks hiding who/what we are and let our ideas speak for themselves. I like to know where the ideas come from. I'm not a random brain in a vat. Maybe I'm just not acclimated to the internet culture of not being sincere or personable. Maybe that's why this is one of the worst communities? Everyone's anonymous, random, rude, and their ideas "speak for themselves" (very anonymously). What do you expect me to do? Stop being who I am and do exactly as I am told here (also change my name as it screams that I am looking for dates and asking for trolls) and listen to all the wonderful advice from men (on a forum where it's being discussed that this is the worst community) on how to be and act like a woman, or a non stereotypical gamer-girl. No thanks.

Rust is a smaller more condensed version of the World. Look at the state of the World right now and that is why Rust is an unforgiving environment.

I don't think it's dependent on age, but just how people are. I had some 20+ year old guy yelling at me to shut my cunt when I told him to stop spamming the chat.
I think it's really because parents are giving less of a shit and kid's aren't realising what they are supposed to aim for, so most of them turn out to be dickheads. Also, people love to publicise shitty things and make them a stereotype, and that is pretty clear in a lot of things.

So you are defined solely by the fact that you are a woman? Are you saying you speak for all women, and that's why it's relevant? If it's just, "who you are," to make sure everybody in the rooms knows for sure that you're a girl, how is that anything besides attention-seeking? It doesn't add to the conversation in any meaningful way (again, unless you speak for all women) because you shouldn't have any video-game related thoughts or opinions on the basis of your gender -- and to say otherwise is sexist... You know, like Reallyguys said.
That said, keep your avatar, name and when necessary feel free to mention your a woman -- I won't think less of you for that. Your life shouldn't be defined by your gender, though.

If you want me to go get a girl to tell you you're stupid too I can, but it shouldn't matter. Also there's a small handful of female mods. It's pretty diverse here. One has a butt pic floating around somewhere and they aren't regarded as an "e-whore" because they're a respectable poster who doesn't talk about their gender all day.

Rethinking about the asking someone of the female gender to post against you, judging by your posts and personality not even just judged from here but profiles you've linked elsewhere, you'd probably just denote them as jealous of your looks/breasts, which you so weren't looking for attention by posting up as the first thing we see on your twitter without a shirt on.

1. I didn't call people kids, I called kids kids. I didn't claim anyone didn't have girlfriends, I said the ones without tend to either white knight or reverse white knight and attack. The more mature members care less. I stick by that. :)
2. For you, there is never a situation. I accept that. Don't tell your gender. For me, there is. I prefer not to be a random anonymous person hiding my identity to appease disgruntled gamers that have chips on their shoulders. Can you accept that?
3. That's the profile and my photo (not the background one, that's a google image). They could have just clicked under my name (on this forum) if they wanted to see that, but I guess posting a snapshot was necessary. Good work.

Judging by what you said, no girl should post anything to me as a female because there is never a situation where gender should be used on this site.
Edit. For the record, I never talked about "gender" all day, except in this thread regarding this being the "worse" community. I added my own experience of being flamed for saying, "As a girl, I tend to play more passive." I definitely never mentioned my looks, breasts, or how any other female should be jealous of me in any way shape or form. I am sure some people find my picture hideous, and that's okay. I'm not ashamed, which is why I used it as my avatar to begin with.

Ok, I'm done arguing back and forth. It adds nothing and only spoils the forums for me a bit more. The game, amazing! The community, not so much. Unless it's a bannable thing, I am going to be myself and just deal with the flames and rude responses.

I can say, I'm a guy, and I play the game very passive. To the point that I gave up on the game since even on passive, PvE servers, the trolls would eventually come in just because they could.
To me the game was about the survival aspect, the collecting, building, growing... even when I had guns my favourite weapon was still the bow, and if I was raided, I packed up and moved onto the next server.
I played on the same server as ness, and it was actually one of my favorite ones since the server admin actively worked to try and keep the game peaceful, and not once while I was there did the fact she was female enter into it. There was no hey look I have tits give me wood or kevlar which I see many women / girls doing. There was no hey i'm a girl and just died, come rescue me, which I also see many doing, she played just like any of the rest of us and it was good times.
Now i'm sure people will flame me aswell, saying oh I'm just white knighting since she's a girl and has tits, but really... don't give a **** have at it :)

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and how they want to express them selves. Everyone is also entitled to be able to comment on other peoples opinions especially if they disagree. This is the double edge sword that is free speech. So with that said lets settle this like civilized folk and at high noon you both meet up at small rad town, take 12 paces, then turn and shoot but only from the hip with a 9mm. For most of my 100+ hours of playtime I just ran around putting myself at risk to help people, joined a clan eventually comprised of people I had helped before and they burned me via firing squad a few days later. Pretty spooky. Now I'm just mostly bored hopping from server to server breaking into places and looking around. Usually end up destroying all my items before leaving. One time me and a friend had broken into like 10 houses and then people started joining saying "what fuck happen to haus" then when they were fixing up I walked into their home and stood there for awhile and killed myself to leave items behind.
Then we came back naked with torches chanting ugachugaugachugaugachuga then I killed myself with C4 on the wall they put up and we all disconnected simulatneously. I had the rest of what wasn't destroyed, their friend was pretty amused but themselves were pretty mad.
Just gotta have fun and not care what happens to you.

Doesn't do me any favors actually. Do people actually get turned on by pictures of women with no visible face, gravity-less breasts in a bra, and a controller? Rhetorical of course. I just started trying to get us back on track so don't let this get us derailed again.

As for going back on topic... I don't think the community here is any better or worse then anywhere else. It seems no matter what game you play, be it league, wow, rust or cod there is always those who do nothing but troll. I wouldn't even say it's the younger generation, the anonymity of the internet leads to those in the older age ranges also doing so "just for fun".
The reason it seems more so in rust, is because the playerbase isn't on the same level, so the ratio of trolls, insults, and in general immaturity seems more increased without the other side of the coin to balance it out. As the game grows, and as the playerbase and community grows, it should get better.

And nobody is asking you to hide your identity, and that's really the crux of my comment -- be open with your gender if it actually informs your opinion on the argument. Keep your avatar. If your position is simply, "I'm a girl gamer," though, than I'm not interested. Surely you've more depth than that, given that you post fairly eloquently.
And by the way, in my mind, we were just having a conversation -- I didn't intend to be hostile, and if I've come off that way, I'm sorry. I don't agree with the people who are posting your Twitter stuff or whatever. That's not cool (and is likely against forum rules).
