Post #1I don't remember ever being a part of a community that has been more toxic and trolltastic than this one. Seriously. Does anyone actually try to help each other or discuss the game? It's a troll-fest and a place for hackers and cheaters to cry about being VAC banned or Cheatpunched and not much else. Unless of course you count the whiners who complain about the "slow development" of the game. Which just attract more flames and trolls. Can't we, I dunno, maybe try and help each other. The carebear attitude doesn't work for playing Rust, but these forums ought to be something different than what the Rust mentality is. Rust is the game, this is the community. How about we just stop being dicks to each other all the time? I know, it's a foreign concept, but isn't it worth a shot? Maybe the lack of communication is due to the fact that every time Garry and Maurino have come in here to talk to us, they've been flamed or are responding to flame threads calling them idiots about how they're developing their game.
TLDR: Stop being assholes to each other.

There is a massive age difference most of the times. Kids of 11 are playing this,
and people of 40+ are playing this.
Most of the time people think they know it better, they are awesome and the other people are just "noobs"
So yeah, it's hard.

I agree with the age divide. I'd assume it's the younger kids that are rude, don't understand sarcasm, and really have no social skills. This forum is like a continuation of them KOS and trash talking in game.
Most of my threads are light hearted and fun, but I'd say more targeted at the mature crowd that gets dry humor. It seems half flame me, the other half actually go along with the topic and play along. There is definitely a divide.
I agree with your assessment though. This community is all over the place and I can't even post that I am female without getting flamed for being an ewhore. True story.

Yeah I unfortunately have to agree. It is really too bad because people who are aiming to improve the game and not make the forums an extension of it, are really being drowned out by negativity and flame wars.

Oh I'm not complaining about the game. The game is great fun, unfinished obviously, but a great foundation to build on. I'm complaining about the forums, the community, the people who come together to discuss the game and what not. This forum is overflowing with trolls. If hackers are the bane of Rust, then the trolls are surely the bane of the community. I would rate them at about the same level for the damage they are doing to this game.

I truly never understood this but its been a stigmatism in games for years. I could never figure out why an industry that essentially is 95% guys doing a giant circle jerk wouldn't want to even out male to female ratio..... call me crazy I guess.
Getting back to the topic, you just need to find the older half that isn't trying to measure their epean and pownage to validate their existence. Most of the people I actually team up with are on the older side, more mature side, and we have a great time. Like anything there is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Just gotta weed out the bad and ugly.

Oldest player i have seen on this game is 58. Even my 69 year old grandfather played all the mass effects, and fallout 3 & new vegas
Nonetheless this game is about kill or be killed. Sometimes you find somebody to help you but before that you are on your own
We will have a friendly community when pigs fly, hackers delete their hacks and we all toss flower pedals into the air and tell each other how much of a good person they are

This is exactly what I'm talking about. These forums are not the game. This isn't Rust. We're normal people here who want to play a fantastic game right? I agree, Rust has in it, the elements of epic trollness. That is a part of the game, it is there. It shouldn't be a part of the community. Out here, we should be a COMMUNITY. Our interest in this is that we all want Rust to succeed and be fun, and we may not agree on how that should be done, but why do we have to flame and troll and be dicks about it? Look at the threads on this forum and the way people talk to each other. There is no civility. This isn't the game. This is real life. The fact that the game is a trollfest should have no bearing on how the community interacts.
It's also surprisingly funny that some of the forum users haven't figured out that a dumb rating from them is a badge of honor.

And I see the chest pounding masochism everyday on this forum.
There is a big difference from saying, "hey everyone I am a girl" to "maybe I am passive about my gameplay because I am a girl and I don't enjoy the pvp aspect" when typing responses. But as I said, the older more mature members (that have girlfriends or wives) get it, the kids not so much. They focus on the word girl and their brain becomes mush.
This isn't a lunchtable for me and I'm well beyond high school. I will continue to detail my opinions and if I feel it needs to be said I am female, then I will say it. I will just take the flames.

That's going to be true with any game, and any game has a certain amount of trash-talking. That's in the game. I'm strictly talking about here in the forums. We don't need trash-talking out here. We need a cooperative spirit and we need to be mature enough to set aside our in-game personas when we come here to discuss Rust's development. I think we can all afford to be better gamesmen (and women!)

trusting them more then the squizers out there.
Anyhow, i really want to know why alot of "kids" play this game, is it because there is a penis in this game? Or is because people see it as "upgraded version of minecraft"..

honestly i find most gold members to have good responses and thoughts to bring into the conversations, atleast those with them 1000+ posts.

Like so many other replys stated, that will never happen. The age difference, the nature of the game. It's all primed for trolls. I try to make the best of it and look for older players so I can actually enjoy the game. Or try to help out younger players so they learn you don't always have to be a jerk to get ahead in a game. It's all really in how you approach it, but sadly we'll never be fully rid of the trolls and hackers who ruin it for the rest of us.

I don't think it was a derail more of proof to the point he was trying to make. Non the less I have found the forums have gotten way more crotchety in the last month due to the lack of content updates / patches. When there is more to game to actually talk about I find the forums are more calm, however when the community is in a dry spell foaming at the mouth for a content update, the claws come out as there is nothing better to do then to troll.

I think at the end of the day, we all want the best Rust we can get. We don't get that by carrying our game mentality to the forums and poisoning the community's well.

the problem is in the way u are acting. you are applying certain features of your character to being a FEMALE. sure, some features can be found in women, but I doubt your personal preferences have anything to do with that. you are basically endorsing and creating stereotypes. and you come on the forum saying: hey anyone wants to play with me? Im a FEMALE!! FEMUL HEREEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! thats the thread you posted and apparently it got deleted. just dont make such a deal about your gender and noone would care.

I have never had a thread get deleted, and I have never asked anyone to play with me. The only threads I created were about hackers on the official servers, about me dying because of a glitch that kept making my desktop pop up as someone was hitting me with a rock, and about having female characters in rust.

Must disagree with this one in a way :D the toxicity is at the lower leagues mostly but the higher you get the better it will be (depends on the platform too I guess - played only on EUW/EUNE)
and about the topic I agree that people sometimes don't think and just insult others instead of looking for better ways to express themselves,it's probably the way the game is too where hours/days of work are obliterated in minutes while you're off or so on(example: There's a group of 5-6 players that aren't really good at shooting ,they work for hours to farm they craft their kevlars and weapons they go out and they get killed by 1-2 players against their whole group , they feel humiliated + they are angry because they lost all their stuff so they start accusing the killer of being a cheater because they simply can't understand how someone can be "so much better" - impossible from their point of view or they simply insult him because they are frustrated and aren't able to control their anger I guess . If they happen to be children then the next step is that they most probably buy some cheats - get banned - come on facepunch - they tell us the same story that they haven't been cheating that it is outrageous and that they want to get unbanned or that they want their money back . Even so I guess in time it will get better , especially when security increases (hopefully sooner than 6 months)

Yeah I think this might be the case. I've realized it because people will automatically respond with rage to any worthless immature post (which is very easy to do)
and completely ignore arguing with anything well-thought out or anything with actual content (which is hard to do).
You can tell who's on here to discuss, and who's 11 and on here looking for easy posts to rip apart.
