So, my base decayed and the items a spent WEEKS getting just disappeared, I checked every day to see if the server is back on, and when it was on everything got stolen already. What do I do now?

Start from scratch, it's Alpha.
It's worth pointing out though, that apparently decay continues even when the server is down/offline which does not seem like how it should be.
congratulations, was about time that you experience loss. rust is all about achieving and losing.
That sucks bro, report it and wait for a patch or start from scratch.

This reply isn't helpful and your dumb rating of his OP is pretty unnecessary. Grow up.
You are noone to tell me whats necessary and what not, stranger. If something is not helpful to you, it does not mean it cant be helpful to others. All the time everyone kills everyone to achieve their riches, if he had played weeks and still have his base it means he fell into the "Rust comfort zone" - you have everything and 15 backups of it, so it does not matter if you die 10 times fully equipped, and the only thing you do is get richer by attacking people that might only have 1 backup or not even endgear at all (depends on the server but thats usually how it goes. you cant just be friendly to EVERYONE. then what would be the point of having all the gear?).
So yeah, about time it happened and if he is interested in the game he will start from scratch and if its on a wiped server he will see its the most fun part of rust, building up and trying to get all the stuff. Not having it all already and just getting more and more every day.
Lastly how is your reply helpful? You are just stating the obvious. All the "dumb" ratings to you, sir.
Because he's reporting a bug in the game on the forums and wanted to ask if there was anything he could do since it was caused by a bug. He isn't coming on here crying because he got raided. He's upset he unfairly lost everything due to an error somewhere in the game code. You could have told him how he could have gotten his post noticed by the developers so that this bug doesn't reoccur. You could have supplied an email address, pointed him to the forum where his "bug report" might have gotten noticed. Instead you chose to flame him and exacerbate the situation. Why would you troll someone looking for help? A dumb rating from you is a badge of honor, keep them coming.
I totally agree mclmrtn...always this wannabe wise guys...Its impossible to post something in this forum without getting such answers.
funny because you did NOTHING of any of the stuff you suggested. all you literally did was "hey mate nuttin u can do dun worry keep yer heads up m8" and then talk shit to me. all I said was "good that you lost something" because that way he will experience the - imo - best phase of rust again when he starts over. I could have phrased it more neutral etc but you? are absolutely hillarious, hypocricy at its finest. arguing with you is like shooting yourself in the fucking knee with an arrow.
The fastest way to get over this is leave it all behind. We can't solve it, and i'm sure they will not rollback the servers (unfortunally for you)
Just act like it never happend ! heuheu
I didn't say "hey mate nuttin u can do dun worry keep yer heads up m8". What I said was "That sucks bro, report it and wait for a patch or start from scratch.
What you said was, "congratulations, was about time that you experience loss. rust is all about achieving and losing." Which was a troll/flame statement to someone coming to the forums with a game issue. Your intent was to inflame the situation and piss someone off. You didn't offer any solutions, you didn't add to anything. You were just a dick to him, and for what reason?
Edit: Don't forget to rate this one dumb and add it to your soon to come reply Snickerdoodle.
Crying about a post being rated Dumb typically just gets you more Dumbs because you're dumb enough to take ratings seriously and cry about them, just FYI.
As for the thread topic, well, this is alpha, and you're going to lose things. A lot. Kinda sucks, but that's the occupational risk of playing during the creation of the world. Wipes are a fact of life, and you should expect to lose everything at random, even if it's a bug or unintended side effect like this.
The sooner you come to terms with the fact that, during the alpha phase, Rust isn't meant to be a playable game that's enjoyable and balanced, the happier you'll be. It's an unfinished prototype of what will eventually be a great game (if the devs can pull everything off), but right now you're going to suffer a lot of frustrating setbacks and problems like this.
I'm not trying to be mean to OP or anything. You're just going to have to start over, and this won't be the last time, most likely.
I just decided to take a break from rust for a while
Hope they will add good stuff and fix the annoying bugs until i return
edit: arrow to the knee
@shultz
u will probably come back in a few days and start over and realize that its fun. just look out for a freshly wiped server and you are good to go. its about the journey, not the goal :P#
ps: love all the ratings haha.
That sucks OP. Unfortunately for you, there's nothing you can do about it now.
On another note, am I the only one who loves going from having everything in the game imaginable to random spawning with nothing but a rock? Maybe it's just me, but when you have a skyscraper of a base and endless kevlar and guns the game tends to lose its fun. There have been times when I've just left my doors open and tell the entire server where my base is just so I can start from the beginning again.
Restart. It's alpha, and that sorta thing is to be expected. It sucks, sorry that happened to you, but restart.
