When I go on the rust website it doesn't show 'play' or anything to join a server and I don't know what to do and I played rust last year then it stopped working for me so can someone please tell me what I should do?

Okay, be aware that your account may not exist anymore, and if it doesn't, there's nothing you can do about it.
Rust is no longer played in the shitty old Webplayer client. Instead, it's now on Steam with a standalone client. This means much better performance since graphics acceleration is much easier to achieve, if your hardware is capable. It also means that the server browser is not a webpage that launches the actual game and connects to that particular server.

Log in here with your old account. If it works, click on Steam key, redeem your Steam key on Steam. Don't have Steam? http://store.steampowered.com/ Click the "Install Steam" link in the top right and follow the instructions. Sign up for Steam, install the desktop client, register your key by clicking on the "Add a game..." text in the lower left of the main Steam window in the desktop client.
