Ive searched the forum and havent really seen anything on this. Just wondering what the thoughts here are on a flagged pvp server or if its even possible.
What Im thinking of is if you hit someone you become flagged as pvp for a set amount of time. If you do any damage to a structure that doesnt belong to you, take anything from a container that isnt yours or kill a sleeper you will become flagged as pvp and can be killed for a set amount of time. The times could be different depending on what you've done as in hitting someone or a structure that isnt yours could flag you longer then if you steal from someones container.
It still leaves tons of griefing options and ways to play. You still wouldnt be able to let your guard down as a naked as someone could step in front of you as your smacking a tree causing you to hit them by accident and flagging you for pvp then boom your dead.
It allows a pve style but you can still defend your base because the people attacking you will be flagged as pvp as soon as they hit your base.
Lots of mmo's have done this style of pvp I played this way in good ole EQ and I think it would be awesome to see it in rust.

...well, if you can only be killed by being flagged as pvp and you get flagged as pvp the second you hit somebody, you could only kill s.o. if they shoot back, otherwise they could just leave without you being able to kill them. So, people who don't have stuff on them except for some weapons would fight back to see if you got loot and somebody with an inventory full of c4 stacks would just calmly stroll away. Doesn't really make sense to me, as the sense of pvp (as I see it) would be undermined.
edit: also, you wouldn't even be able to kill a sleeper as they are not fighting back, thus are not flagged as pvp = not killable.

I may not have explained that correctly but it does work and that system has been used before. I feel the concept suits this game very well but that's just my opinion.
As for the sleepers they could be considered containers and it has already been discussed to allow people to loot them without killing them.

The ability to flag off zones would be easier. While the plugins that allow that are buggy and broken, we are waiting for it on my server. Basically it would allow admins to make entire sections pvp. Like all of small rad would be pvp, your flagged as soon as you enter. Wouldnt be too hard to fix it so that people can not kill from outside the pvp zone either.
