How soon will the island be used more? as in expanding the play area.

If not soon, how about putting some resources out further from the road.
Double the playing area. No treasure points, just rocks, trees and animals to eat.

So, us people that don't have the latest and greatest weapons (and stuff), can build and survive longer than
a couple of day cycles.

Well whenever farming starts up I know I am going to gather as much seed and other food and resources and just head east of hacker.
