Eh, I guess I'll share. Just did some upgrading (or downgrading, if you look at it. I got rid of my SLI Titans since I decided it was shit.)

Corsair 750D ATX Full Tower Case
MSi Motherboard, can't remember which exactly
Intel Core i7-4770k Overclocked to 4.6 GHz (cooler is a Corsair Hydro H100i)
    16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws XSeries, 1600 MHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 Ti with Windforce cooler, 3GB GDDR5
Samsung 840 Evo Pro Series 120GB SSD (OS Drive)
2TB Western Digital Green Drive (Data Drive)
    Corsair Power Supply, 750W
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

She is a beautiful machine, but overkill.

Damn son, how are you running your CPU to 76C? You need to get better cooling, unless that's on full load and how is your motherboard that fucking hot? mine never goes above half that.

No shit go shut down, take a can of compressed air to it, and get those temps down, dude.

I'm on liquid and doing a pretty heavy overclock, but even on full load, it doesn't even reach 70c like that, it usually tops out at about 67.

No, that's probably it's max running temp, no computer part can run *optimally* at 120c...

Yeah you must be right, just checked again and it's been lowered to 100c thermal max. Which would be ridiculous anyway...

I'd swear I read the words 'Optimal' and '120c' on the same line though, that might have been an Acer misprint I guess.

It shuts itself down at some thermal point anyway, used to happen occasionally on long gaming sessions. Does start to cook my fingers on the WASD keys though on some games, DA Origins was always a bad one, I guess not to well optimised or something. To be honest I am surprised it's lasted as long as it has, but then I strip the thing down to its individual layers every 6 months or so and clean it thoroughly.

Stripping laptops down is a grind in itself mind. Still takes me a good hour even after lots of practice.

I am new to the computer world and was just curious if any of you have any input on any upgrades i can do to make my pc better for around $800.
It took me about a day to learn about computers and how simple they actually are. I was always intimidated by them thinking they were for "smart" people only but its starting to become a hobby. I crave information/knowledge about peoples setups or advice they have. My computer runs great but i am looking for more oomph either to graphics or just hardware.

Why would an SSD be your primary HDD? It's not a hard drive.

Because it houses the OS? At least that's what mine is doing.

Upgrade your nVidia card. Even a 660 is considerably more powerful than your 650. In the order of cheapest to fastest>> 660, 760, 670, 770, 680, 780, 690, 790, Titan. If the number that fits your budget best comes in a "TI" variant, get that instead. The only other considerable upgrade for you would be a SSD instead of that mechanical hdd you are using.
