Just over a month ago, a Rust update came out and I was no longer able to launch the game. When I attempted to launch it, absolutely nothing would pop up.

I tried setting both of the game's exe's to run in Administrator mode, nothing.

I tried verifying integrity of game cache, nothing.

I tried setting the game to Dev mode, nothing.

I tried straight up reinstalling the game, nothing.

I uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics driver, nothing.

I created exceptions for Steam and Rust in my firewall, antivirus and antimalware suites, still nothing.

I've done all of these steps about a dozen times each now, in different orders. None of them have fixed the problem. Which is a little irritating. Anyhow, I decided to wait for the next Rust patch... it came out, STILL no fix.

    What gives?

PC specs? Operating system? Error messages? AV software?

I bet it stopped working when they put in EAC, some AV software just won't let the game start since it will also try to install EAC. If you have AV then turn it off and try again.
