Mortal Online got Steam Greenlit. Full nudity for both genders and full of brutality. Game is also full of admin abuse, retarded mechanics (1 shot kill dinolizard combat anyone? lol), bugs, glitches and countless other problems.

I don't want to start a whole other discussion but I find it funny that naked bodies should be censored yet bashing some sleeping guys head in with a rock is totally okay. Nudity is so much more vulgar than flat out murder for no reason (it's not even a war game where we pick sides). Not to mention, I've seen videos of the naked clans running around initiating new spawns by gangbanging (prison rape) them in a limbo line (as well as mock oral). The pornography is present, whether there is a vagina in game or not.

Although, I wouldn't care if they gave the characters loin clothes, as long as we had a choice of gender.

The penises would have been A-ok if people weren't uploading them to the steam screenshot system. That is the reason they got removed. Censoring is just there now as a player option. I assume that it will probably removed later on in development.

BTW u should do more research... Have u played God Of War? Or game called "Singles" ? It is not a pornography... Its 18+ rated game. So what u would call GTA Series? I don't know about some countries but It would be totally legal to have nude girls in US and most of EU. Google it.

FP has said that they would like to open up character customization later in development. Many modern games include gender in such customization and honestly Garry seems like a pretty cool guy. I'm rather optimistic that one day we'll have gender choice.

Honestly, I think that choosing a sex in Rust is not even worth taking time to do unless Garry is bored after the game is finished. Your sex changes absolutely nothing for you in terms of gameplay except for the fact that 12 year olds will want to be your boyfriend. I'm not saying it's a dumb idea, but it's almost not even worth discussing.

Well, individualism, customization, and variety. Being able to put yourself into your character helps you warp into the game and almost become a part of the world. It absolutely helps with gameplay for me. I'm not a guy. You can say it all you want that it shouldn't matter if I am a guy or girl in world. It does. I also wear panties, not boxers or briefs. It shouldn't matter, because no-one sees what I am wearing underneath my clothing. However, it matters. It matters to me. I wear women's clothing, not mens. I also wear nail polish and put on perfume, not cologne. I am sure anyone can come along and tell me how unimportant the variety or customization is in my life, and that I should be able to function with men's clothing, men's underwear, men's shoes, and no fingernail polish just fine, as it doesn't effect my everyday life other than having 12 year olds ask me to be their boyfriends. As true as that may be, it's BORING and silly as hell. It's just as silly as suggesting a game do the same thing. And yes, extremely boring. It's boring not to have customization, and it's boring to not be able to be who I am in real life. The same as tuna, chocolate bars, cans of beans, granola bars, and cooked chicken all add variety with the same basic functions, character customization is equally as important.

If you still feel sex changes absolutely nothing in gameplay, then hopefully you can at least get the idea that everyone doesn't feel the same way you feel. People play games for different reasons. Maybe it doesn't affect your gameplay, but it does mine. I think I answered your question.

I have no problem waiting for customization though. Until the experimental version has more content, I've moved on to other games.

Take a game like fallout, extreme character customization, but there is a lot of persona and skill based tasks in that game. Things like Rust are almost purely skill and luck based, with which character customization plays little to no part in other than maybe if you had a really skinny person, their hit-box may be tinier.

I'm not sure if you've ever played M&B Warband online but there's a lot enjoyment, sometimes just in people looking ridiculous, that comes out of character customization (male and female) in that game. And that, much more so than Rust, is purely in its MP form about competitive PvP.

At the moment, Rust has name impersonation; now imagine how devious someone can be if they look like your buddy and their displayed name is your buddy's. Sure, if you try and have a voice chat with them, and a completely different voice comes out, the jig is up, but until the trick's discovered, you could make critical mistakes.

I'd agree but I guess because I capture (and get captured) and edit videos later, I do end up seeing myself. With the new experimental branch it also has third person.

Ultimately I'm a little confused why there's such pushback against this. I think we can all agree it's not a top priority over getting the building system up and running or getting proper footstep sounds but as character customization is something FP has said they want to pursue eventually, this seems like a pretty natural part of the process. It takes nothing away from the game to have more than one set of possible sex organs and really just adds to player freedom and choice (things FP seem to be fans of). If people lose their minds about it we can just have another default censor.

The devs planned to add additional model and clothing customization options, including female characters, months ago. Unless they've changed their minds and not told us yet (and, from some of the shit borderline-misogynists have said in here, I wouldn't be completely surprised) this is still slated for the future. Trust the devs to prioritize things in roughly the appropriate order. They're professionals doing their jobs.

Female characters will be implemented when the dev team is ready to tackle that option on the to-do list and they're needed in order for development to move forward, and not likely much earlier.

Currently, you can switch between first-person and third-person camera on experimental, but this is a test and is not guaranteed to be permanent. However, as of right now, third-person is an option as thelionnessa says.
