Post #1I don't know how you guys feel, but I feel like raiding bases could need something other than C4'ing down doors. It doesn't really add much game play other than the gathering part. Once you have them you simply just place them on the door/wall.
What alternatives to C4 is there really? Something that does the same job but requiring more of the player than just clicking on the desired place. Would you like to see something different than C4? I'm not just talking about adding "barrel bomb" that acts exactly like C4.
What other means to blowing down doors would fit the game and add to game play? Blow torches popped into my head or maybe some kind of metal saw. It would take longer time than just placing two C4's down, but at the same time it should not take too long.
Any ideas?

Have you ever made C4 yourself.. alone gathering that stuff is a pain in the ass.. (And you need atleast 4-6 in order to get somewhere in most bases..
So i really think your "just place thm on the door and that's it" argument kinda invalid..
Would be nice to have a second way to do stuff like that, but if it'd be harder then people will simply keep using C4.. And if they make it to easy well.. then it's no fun.

Yes I have made C4 by myself, yes it takes time, and this is not a discussion of how hard C4 or something else with the same function would be to make/craft.
It's about what other things that could be added/replace C4 to change the way how doors are taken down. Right now, as you said yourself you just simply click two times and door goes bye bye.

Like what would you expect to happen?
It's not that you farm for 10 minuts and you got 5 C4 and simply click twice and you got fat loot..

We have pick locks for bags but it doesn't work on doors how funny. Oh right, recent patch gave all doors digital code encryption just like today's modern doors thats why.
We make fires in the game but can't burn houses down either.

placing them on the door is the fun part,its hard to make c4.
Now you can make a stair case up,b around there base,build platforms and drop in there top floor(if they don't have a ceiling)

battering ram? blow torch? grenades? does it really matter so much right now that you have to be a dick about it? nope.
If you demand a serious answer, my liege, I agree that a torch would be cool but difficult to make work in Rust's universe. Some kind of battering ram might be neat, but how to counteract it? I dunno. Personally I don't see anything wrong with C4 other than that it doesn't really fit the whole hand-made mode, but whatevs, it's in alpha anyway. But hey, that's just my opinion. It doesn't mean that I lack brainpower, sweetheart.

i just think this will be a (attempt to be one)community added item,so i didn't say what they "should add",because i can guarantee some will make a item like that. its why the devs should not even work on it.

If you're referring to my comment about using my teammate as a battering ram, I was trying to contribute by adding some humor to your day. Please forgive me for that one.
If you're referring to other comments, people are actually sharing their opinions/ideas, so I'm not quite sure what the deal is...

Sledgehammer, there is no real good reason IMO for not allowing players to destroy wood and metal doors and walls with tools, why do you need c4 when you are a facing a shitty bunch of boards and crappy metal planchs that you can even see throught?
It could be great to have different destruction phases like woodpiles and stones, like first a scratch, then a hole then nothing (for making it more amusing). Metal walls and doors couldnt be completely destroyed, but you can make a hole in them and everytime you enter trought, it will make you bleed and it will hurt.
Being able of repairing this metal structures will make them much more rewarding than wooden structures cause base griefing will be impossible for them so it will be a big change to the game but I´d like to see it.
In this scenario c4 is not craftable (I think that it is a placeholder, like military weapon, that wont last to the end but I dont have any proofs of that from the devs).

Opinion 1: Lockpicking
Using one lockpick to open a door. That will start a minigame where you'll have to find the correct angle. It should be really hard to open. After failure the lockpick will break. 30% Chance that the lockpick will break after a sucessful atempt.
Opinion 2: Batering ram
Swing that big muthafucking tree against a door. Needs atleast 2 people. Both of them have to use the mouse in an back and forth movement to ram the door. Ah yeah the movement has to be somewhat synchrone. More players at the ram the faster it gets the door open. Will get destroyed after 2 or 3 doors. Door smashing will ofc take some time and will make a shitload of noise
Opinion 3: Crowbar
Use your mouse to get that door open. It will take some time but wont make that much noise. The crowbar will get deformed really quick (high chance that you'll need more than one to open a door)

c4 really isnt hard to make if you can get the blueprints c4 is easy

Blowtorch? Burn a fuggin hole in that door and walk through haha
I like the sledgehammer idea though.... but shouldnt be that much different than the pick axe we already have IMO.
Crowbar is definitely a good one.... but you shouldnt be able to make it and it should be mildly rare to find.

Battering Ram is actually an idea I thought would be really cool. You'd have to pound on their door long enough to be exposed and cause a lot of noise in the process, but it would be a cheaper way of raiding.

Dude have you ever tried that sh*t?
To blow up a wooden wall you need at least 16-18 grenades..
As for me it's easier to craft 6 c4..
And I always do it by myself
