This game is an amazing game as everyone knows, but it will never be as amazing as your first time.

Don't you wish you could get your Rust virginity back?

Logging into your first server, alone, quiet, naked with nothing but a rock. You run around not knowing the map, it seems so huge, how could you ever see the whole thing.

You make your first gun. You feel so powerful with your few precious bullets, you saver every single one.

First contact with another person. He has a gun and is aiming at you, shots are fired. Every shot feels like your haymaker punching wildly at your foe, your heart is racing.

You run out of ammo and narrowly escape dodging through rocks and search for a half hour trying to remember where you put your humble shack. You settle in for the night with your cozy fire burning with the fear of someone being outside.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now after 400+ hours playing.... I walk around with stacks of ammo and kevlar with my trusty M4 and Bolt Action. No fear, no care in the world for spending stacks of ammo.

I wish I could go back to the old days...

I'm speaking in the sense of that you will never be as fresh and new as your first time. The actual feeling of surviving. Its like playing a horror game a second time. You know where every scare is going to be to the point of it being boring and not scary anymore. No thrill at all.

I bought the game because of that feeling. Now it's just another boring, virtual timewaster.

I've been playing about 3 or 4 weeks now just. The survival aspect gets ruined on most servers, so I gave up on the survival game, and started playing on /kit m4 servers and just build a sniper tower and sit practicing headshotting people because I like the noise headshots make after a long day in work...

The first few days and even weeks were great. But the more i played the smaller the world got and the more routine it became. You know when you start fresh you can have a good sized building and most of the gear within a few days. At that point its just grind grind grind

I can relate to this, it sadly happens to every game I play. I remember when I got minecraft in early Alpha without knowing what the fuck to do xD

I agree with this. After playing the game for a while, the whole survival aspect is gone. Sure you experience it a little if a server just got wiped and 50+ people are running around naked, fighting for resources and knowledge.

But I think knowing the whole make takes away a lot from the survival feeling. Also weapons are too easy to get. After playing a week on a server, having a box full of guns is quite common if you don't get raided.

I remember my first day. It was on one of the official servers.
Everything looked really confusing at first. I focussed on stuff I saw in the preview movie on steam: chopping on trees. It took me forever to get some wood.
Two guys in kevlar crossed my path rather fast, they asked if I hadn't seen anyone looking like them. I said "no I aint seen nowt", they gave me some food and went off.
I later met a guy near RAD factory who had build a home there. He was friendly so I decided to build near him. I tried to build a shack but instead of building it, I dropped it on the floor and it got stolen.

The guy I met invited me to his place then instead. There was another noob there, that also found shelter. It had 3 floors, and was protected by just one wooden door at the entrance, no further doors and an open roof. It looked impressive and secure. We felt safe there.
During the night we put out torches and campfires to prevent people from seeing us.

We had some issues with one guy. We managed to kill him, but he came back with more, they punched down the wooden door, killed us all and stole all our stuff.

Lol...rust hipster. As you can see your experiences mean little when compared to that of those who started before you. Speak not to men such as these, they are above us.

I started without any guides so when I logged on and found the sun setting and me holding a rock with no idea what to do I found it (virtually) terrifying. Eventually found a pig, killed it. Ate raw meat and poisoned myself, figured out to make a campfire and nestled myself in some rocks to cook food. That feeling of insecurity was pretty fantastic though. Great when a game can do that. I still get a remnant of that when I'm looking into an airdrop and other similar situations.

Maybe if you didnt build only suicide bases and have a friend that was a hacker your rust virginity would have lasted longer.

I remember this argument from a past thread. I dont know you or batemaster but it really shows an immaturity and lack of ability to let something go to derail current threads as a result of your past argument

You see, i only read the past thread Eggman and made a comment that i didnt agree with either. I believe i gave a mature opinion and merely did not say fuck off asshat as many others would. To truly maintain your "rust virginity", its best not to be unraidable. The most interesting part of this game is fighting for your hard earned gains, and not merely stashing everything up. I bid you good day sir.

Lol. I see sarcasm and bitterness is considered a mature comment. If you think your comment was a constructive addition to the thread and not trolling I believe you're mistaken.
I disagree about suicide bases maintaining your rust virginity. In my case by the time I had enough resources to build my first easily raidable tower the 'terrifying' aspect that I think op is referring to was long gone. For me it dissapeared after my first couple shacks were raided and I died a couple times.

I got the game shortly before it came to Steam. I had Frankie's earliest video to go off, or at least I believe he made a video before it came to steam. Anyway, I remember having a shack in the woods and coming out to the sunlight, good fun.

Gotta love seeing trolls following me through the forums grudging about some garbage that happened a few weeks ago on a server with shady admins.
