Having played rust for over 200 hours, most of that time being on East Coast 3, i have been killed by countless hackers, to the point where if i had the money i would buy another copy of rust just to kill the hackers. But some hackers are good hackers, doing exactly what i would do, which is help the legitimate player and battle the other hackers. When you have white hackers keeping the no life hackers in check it evens out the playing field. But i only wished their were more of these white hackers on official servers. Even though hacking is still wrong.
What is your opinion on hackers who solely pray on other hackers? Do you welcome them?

Obviously it's stupid to have hackers playing the game as you said but I do find it funny how hackers are fighting each other.

I also cheat on my main account but I think the benefits of having me in a server are more than the disadvantages: I just use the ESP to see if someone hacks, if he doesn't, I donīt go towards them and I make like I didn't saw him, even if I know he will problably kill me. If someone cheats AND harms other players, I record it and send it anonymously to the server's admins. In my opinion, hacks were not made to screw other people, they were made to have a boost on the gameplay (mainly for those like me who work a lot and can play the game for a short time) and to screw those who screw with hacks.

All this ridiculous and childish rationalisation about "hackers" is infuriating. Also, hacker seems an overly generous term for every pleb who downloaded something that an actual hacker made. If that actual hacker was a "good" white hat hacker then they probably wouldn't rush out to make lots of money out of it. The hackers do not create something amazing and new with their coding talents - they pick a popular game someone else put all the risk into and leech off that.
Don't play games with the rights and wrongs of it. This is unhelpful and muddies the waters. Fuck hacking douchebags. It's that simple.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Hacking is hacking, there is no excuse to do it. If I find what you call a "good" hacker on my server, they will be banned just like any other hacker. VAC, CheatPunch, and the upcoming EAC will handle the hackers. No one wins if you hack.

You're thinking of multiplication.
Subtracting a negative from a negative will give you a greater value, but won't give you a positive unless the second negative number is less than the first.

Actually, subtracting a negative cancels out to adding a positive. Given the theory that good hacking is less bad than bad hacking, as OP thinks, we are subtracting a lesser negative from a negative. We still end up with a negative number. Even if we assume both acts are equal, we'll end up with zero. Again, no one wins.
Example: (-5 - -3) is equivalent to (-5 + 3), which is -2. (-5 - -5) = 0. Yes, I'm fun at parties.

A cheater is a cheater is a cheater. I can guarantee that at least 90% of these so-called "good cheaters" (I refuse to call them hackers) will get bored and turn to the dark side.
That is if they don't get banned first.

"white hackers" is a stupid idea that dosent really help.
i am a brutal cheater hater , what i do , wich you could call "white hacking" is that i show to the public hacks for games where the sentence "there is no cheat for this game noob ,l2p"
or "do you have proof?" and similiar is used excessive in chat, in short: games that have many so called "private hackers", where is no public hack out/yet or comes never out because the game has a too small community.
I do that so i take away the cheaters grief power and so that everyone knows in fact that the game has cheats. some love me for it some hate me.
I think information is the most important part in fight against cheating players.
one tip for example is, if you notice someone cheating and you have no proof(like so often cheats are seldom directly proofable by a legit player) , then just start an open discussion in chat about that person but dont rage, talk with your friend hw that guy cheats balbal a while.
this makes MANY cheaters go away from server because most of them want that no one notices that they cheat.

There are no good arsonists, you don't fight fire with fire - you fight it with water. I understand that the official servers are rife with hackers and lack any admins who manually spot this sort of behavior and ban those responsible, my advice would be to go and play on a server that has the setup you want (vanilla, or what have you) and has active admins that ban hackers. Buying another copy of Rust and hacks so you can go around pretending you're some sort of superhero hacker or whatever is idiocy. That being said, buy as many copies and get them VAC banned as you want, it'll only give Facepunch more profit. Hopefully that profit will go into improving the game and your hacking adventures may well help them to improve Cheatpunch and VAC.

I actually had quite a few laughs with hackers messing up other hackers. There were many aimbot/speedhack/flyhack "champs" in my server. It was so funny when "guinesspete" and "Omega" came in and AOE killed the sht out of them. And especially how the hackers started crying omg you hack, you killed me with cheat QQQQQQ and so on. Oh the irony

this could never work on vac/cheatpunch servers unless whitelist are set to go around them, but it is a valid strategy called penetration testing
in real life people actually do this, it used to be a common military tactic. in the 1980's, seal team 6 was assigned to try to kill the president without actually killing him, and they found alot of holes in the national security. they were able to get a truck full of explosives going beside air force one. the only difference between them and a millitary group trying to kill the president is they never fully went through, and reported the holes and it was fixed, im sure more people would be willing to do find the holes and report the findings if it wasn't an automated ban.
although it isnt as common now in military as it is highly controversial in more then just military, it still goes on in the IT industry now though, as the best way to plug a hole is to do everything to get in the system, including hacking. then they close the hole, and they start the process all over again.
i have done this many times in minecraft and non automatic ban servers that i had modded, as esp helps find flying guys, speed hackers, etc. the better the cheat, the better you are.
but as i said, useless on rust as it is an automatic ban without reason other then you were hacking, so it isnt smart unless you want to spend a ton of money buying new games

upon doing more research, i found that these guys are called red teams, or red cells. here is an entire article on it, although it gives few examples. the latter states the seal team 6 i had previously stated, while the youtube link shows a documentary on it

i would not look into it to much, as trying to dig up classified documents can be considered treason, something edward snowden is facing. im not going to post more evidence of its effectiveness, as this is way bigger then just a single post. just it is very effective, and no i am not talking about mass surveillance either.

i play totally legit with my main, but after being killed 100X times by a hacker one day i decided to get to them - bought a new rust, downloaded a no clip cheat, a radar, and left for a hunt. I found hackers base and destroyed every single box and item in that house. there were tons of guns, and other shit the shithead collected from legit ppl (that guy was annoying server for good few weeks). U cant imagine how much fun i had shooting his boxes with the loot that i know he spend hours and hours to collect. That acc got banned in days by VAC which was no surprise. And i know if there will be more of these annoying idiots - i will buy another rust and will wipe them clean.

no they don't hire for friendly fire, but my original post shows what the millitary has done, and probably even more. not to mention the various spies that im sure had to kill there own country men to keep there cover. the cold war was mostly unknown after all.

Also, It's kind of hard for me to think that when you see someone behind a rock and you've got resources or nice items, you just go by without checking or dodging him. Same when it comes to c4'ing a room with barricades when you clearly know there is no chest.
In the end, I agree with you but you forgot to add something. "Everyone should hack and get banned".
