Hi,
Just wondering when the next update is?
Im not sure if this is the correct place to post this. But i gave it a try.
We don't know. Maybe next week.
Follow Trello for a good summary of what's completed.
Also, Garry's Twitter provides updates that aren't discussed on playrust.com
Seems like they updating this week
Friday
I wish FP would do like Squad does for KSP and push the update back a day everytime someone asks when it will be out.
(I don't think they really do this, but it's funny to tell that to people who ask.)
They should also implement a time delay on the dawn whenever someone asks when the sun is going to come up.
Yea, that would be funny Sievers808
It will come out between soon and never.
go to http://playrust.com/ there you will find all you need.
who cares?
you yes, not us.
Me and at least 65 people reading this thread probably too..
I know I care lol...I'd like more content, it's getting pretty boring unfortunately
There is nothing visible on "next version" so ehm, i hope they got a secret stash of cards somewhere hidden :O
If I remember correctly, There was never anything in that card to begin with, I think that is just to show the things the should be included in the next version to the right. Thats just to my knowledge though.
Wow... This is almost the exact same thing you said on the new spawn thread as well. Aren't you just the little dickhead today.
Aren't you just a peach?![]()
The links dont help at all, They dont give any info at all when the next update is coming, which is the main topic of this thread.
Not really, neither tells when or what the next update is, which I believe was the OP's question. They are decent information on what they are working on.
I can't really blame them for not sharing every little thing though. Imagine how much worst all the trolling and QQing would be around here if they gave a date for a new update, and were a day late..... Can't win for losing....
The devs will probably never give a release date for an update.
It's out when it's out.
I agree we will never get a exact release date for an update but we could use a little input. Even if the info was "The update is pushed back another week" I wouldn't be as mad as without anything said about it.
When you get on trello above the cards there will be a calendar tab click on it and it will show you near updates coming out!
Not at all, It says when the 'cards' are due. Which is pretty much just a suggestion. If you look at one of the cards, it says its due tomorrow, and some of them were due in February.
Oh I did not notice that actually it looked like it to me but I was wrong
It really is a catch 22 situation with game development and giving out information. On one hand many people appreciate an informal deadline but the problem is that a good amount of people will take even the most vague timeline as a hard promise. Last week they had a post that said they pushed back the update a week and people took that as a hard deadline. Now we are a full week from that post and people are getting impatient. The flip side is if they didn't say anything about the lack of a patch last week you would have people complaining about poor communication and the game is dead.
Most developers just go with extremely vague and flexible statements on updates and ignore the whining that comes when that "deadline" is missed. Explaining why it was missed leads to an army of armchair quarterbacks. Every game I have followed has to walk that fine line of being informative while also not falling into the trap of broken "promises."
Wanna read some really frustrating stuff? Read the comment section on the last recent news posting, "updateless week." some seriously over-entitled people that really just don't understand how game development works...
Yeah I have read the comments there. Honestly its quite stupid how people are acting there, and in most cases most of them probably dont even have the game.
The reason why I'm sharing those links is purely because that is the only current indicator of updates other than the playrust.com website.
People get impatient, spam the forums with "WHEN IS NEXT UPDATE what does it CONTAIN", and Garry's twitter and Trello contain stuff that they're working on as helpful hints, because that's all you really have to rely on. The developers aren't really all that active in the forums.
I actually have a question, If this the real Rust Facebook because this gives more info of the next update. https://www.facebook.com/RustTheGame
Nope, that's just someone doing what they want...
This is the official FB page.
Yeah I thought so... The top post on the other facebook is so hard to understand, it looks like it was written by a 4 year old.
I don't think the official Rust page would ever have a background image like that.
Edited:
Holy shit
No wonder people are confused. They're completely acting like they are the staff.
The 900 likes was also confusing to me.
The banner that states its the "official" one got me for a bit. until i went to the real one, and realized it has over 30x the likes.
i wonder if they can get that fake one closed for falsely claiming to be the real one
I reported the fake one as a scam. I recommend others do the same.
I also posted in a couple different places on their page to spread the word and included the link to the real one.
It wouldn't be an issue if they weren't claiming to be "official" or were acting like they were the devs. But taking the credit is kind of fucked up.
Although honestly, almost anyone on that page is probably a little dumb for not realizing that it's a fake.
That cover photo is god awful.
I have a feeling you may have more luck reporting it as a "duplicate" rather than a scam.
That way, you can input the original Play Rust URL (https://www.facebook.com/facepunchrust) to specify who they're copying.
OH good call, don't know how I missed that lol.
I'll report them for BOTH! MUAHAHA! (not as evil-sounding as it did in my head)
..or how software development works in general, in fact.
Setting deadlines for development tasks is like giving someone a dozen difficult puzzles to solve and setting them a deadline. Sometimes you solve them faster, sometimes you solve them slower and until you have actually solved a specific puzzle it is very hard to actually estimate how long it will take.
Some people seem to think it is like building a wall, where you multiply number of bricks by the time taken to put each brick on the wall. It ain't.
