I fucking hate admins like this. A website should be made where u can report admins abusing their power, and then their server get flooded by trolls or hackers.

This is a splendid idea. Too many dont-give-an-eff admins who either ban someone who killed them, wipes the server when they see people getting a little bit ahead, or didn't have enough wit to take care of their server.
Joining servers with admins like these is a waste of time.

They are not all like that, don't agree with all of your top 10, but that admin is HORRIBLE. No KOS but PVP is enabled? Make up your fucking mind chickenman.

Couldn't agree more. My friend and I started our own server based on this, and that we got tired of being murdered within 10min of playing on the main servers. We have a small but growing community of people on our server...between 11-18 average. We have hit as high as 27. If you want to check it out, hit me up --The admins don't play the game on the server, we have only had to ban 3 people due to one spamming a porn site in the chat, the other two were calling everyone some serious racist names in the chat, and when asked to tone it down they wouldn't. The only thing I can promise you, is what you experienced won't happen on our server. Best of luck to you.1. If you wreck an admin, they'll ban you.
2. If you raid an admin, they'll ban you. (I think they're mad? maybe?)
3. If you don't know the rules nobody told you, nobody talks about or nobody provided a link, they'll ban you.
4. If you don't follow their custom set of rules they have, they'll ban you. (Just got banned off a server where supposedly you can't "kill people on site" regardless if they're shooting at your or not). I'll provide the IP and server name so you don't waste your time either.
5. If you kill their friends, or their friends in Teamspeak, they'll ban you.
6. If you work your ass off for seven solid days straight, supposedly you having Bolt Actions you crafted and C4 from busting your ass makes you a hacker (Not to mention the six other people you play with who help gather) and you guessed it, they ban you.
7. If you apologize you didn't know there was rules nobody talked about, they don't care. Cause everyone knows if you apologize, you're the bigger man, right?
8. They run custom OXIDE scripts that have marketplaces (Which are extremely bugged and people glitch to purchase thousands of the same item).
9. They have thousands of airdrops a day (Makes it way too easy for people to obtain hard-tier items, therefore servers become wastelands of empty buildings that have been raided and no supplies, etc).
10. The population is 100+ for a few days, then it's 2 people the next day for weeks straight.
As a bonus, provide information to other servers you've joined and why players shouldn't join them to waste their hard-time gathering, only to be banned.
Also, if you've got good servers you feel people should try out, let them know here and why, don't just say "My server is best shit ever" explain why, and maybe have some people back it up.

He was also standing out in the open while "gearing" which is probably why he got super mad.
What's even better is his server says it's PVP..
If you run a server with a community, you shouldn't treat people like shit because you're upset.

Not to mention his emphasis on "gearing up" when he was naked as he had just spawned, meaning he was spawning in shit for himself.

come join my server :) I will give you wood and beans and you can kill everyone with no exeption.
there are mods for safe, no pvp zones. no pvp time mod. rules pop up mesage mods. admins just have to install those mods, to avoid such missunderstandings. and then server named PVP with no pvp.. admin is just a little silly kid...
just go find a new server.

It really does suck to come across admins that have no sense of human decency. People spend their free time to play on your server and they just drive people away by abusing their powers. I just started a server and I want to pride myself on using admin powers for good. Dying is part of the game and if you loose your shit then tough luck, start over like a man and don't be a douche admin.

People who pay server rents with money from their parents should not be admins. Or alive.

the server i play on is vanilla with only backpack locks turned off. no mods no rusty oxidising magma
population at low peak is 40, mid is 80, peak hours its 100+ everyday, no matter how long ago the wipe was. only rule is no hacking or exploiting which the admins enforce. and thats all the admins do.
i wont give the ip or name because you guys post so many threads everyday about dont play this server i dont want you to ruin it.
if u get butthurt about admins banning you, play a official server. or spend the time looking for a good one. like im really going to remember the server name you posted up there while there are thousands of servers in the list.....

honestly I would not be opposed to paying a subscription fee to play Rust if it meant that there are only official servers, and they are all monitored 24/7 by admins that are PAID EMPLOYEES to be admins (non-players)
kind of like GM's in MMO's
I love this game so much, and the only thing ruining it for me is the fact that servers are either
1) no active admins to ban hackers
2) admin abuse
and if you manage to avoid both of the above, then you're playing on an ultra popular fast paced fresh wiped server that will get DDOS'd because all the big streamers are playing there as well, and their servers always get DDOS'd

not all admins are badmins. I do my best to harbor a good community and i'm very much against abuse. I left 2 servers because of admin abuse. If I become what I hate, I'll just shut down my server.

The admins on this server are some of the best I have come across. These guys are very helpful, respond almost immediately, and take hours upon hours out of their day to make sure the server is free of hackers, running smoothly, free of whining and full of fun. These guys are busting their asses to make sure hackers, exploiters, and just plain toxic players are dealt with, even if it's a simple talking to. Before you all jump on the "fuck admins" bandwagon, learn the full story. There was a reason this gentlemen was banned, and I'm under the impression he was later un-banned. These admins do a damn fine job and I wont let this slander spread. Come play on the server and ask for help, I guarantee you will be helped and satisfied.
And to clarify, I am not one of the admins "close friends" I joined a random server and had a wonderful experience. To be honest, I was thought to be a hacker, didn't get banned (because I was legit) and have been great since. Play with respect and you will be given respect.

In the server I play on,we have 2 admins who DO NOT play on their server.They play on different servers and they generally try to help people.Since the server's opening(27th of February) me and my 8 people group haven't seen any hackers around.Yesterday somebody tried to glitch between walls to loot stuff from crates and got reported.In 5 minutes he was banned for a day and all items restored.
Admins need to be as just as well as active and helpfull and these guys are.In the server there are mostly greek people and the admins are greek but no discrimination whatsoever.Yesterday we raided a guys base for KOS'ing newbies.
We have instacraft,tp,and sleepers on.
I would highly reccomend the server to anyone.

Do not get me wrong but you can't just judge all the custom servers because of this one.I know,it makes you mad because you get banned without valid reasons.Admin on that server got serious problems i got that but that does not mean all admins are bad and abusing.On most server admins are there to moderate server,fixing the issues,helping the people and of course catching cheaters.
Also on official servers, several "hackers" flying around and torturing people (you can see the posts on forum again) which shows lack of management(admins) in my opinion.So both place has it's advantages and disadvantages.So my advice is,change your server you can find tons of server listed at this forum.

So because of your bad experience you're discouraging everyone to join a custom any custom server.
That's quite stupid.
I've opened my own server because I hate admin abuse and had bad experience in 2-3 servers. Now I can say for sure that if you kill me on my server I don't ban you, if you kill "my friends" (ppl who play in my server by far) I don't ban you. I don't use tons of bugged plugins but only the "good ones" I think. I've changed drops to reduce military drops and I've regular airdrop with a max of 2-3 airdrop/day based on population and random stats.
So... yes you can find a lot of crap server with bad admin but I think you can find also good ones!

Make one admined official server and charge monthly to make it economically viable. You will have a maxed server .... Pleeeeeeeesze!!!
Think about it. Charge 10 dollars a month whatever, 10 dollars x 200 players = 2000 a month.

Couldn't disagree more really... Yea, you run across bad admins here and there, but not ALL custom servers are like this, Just takes time to find a server that suits you and how you want to play. I hate generalizations period, the two words that should be banned from all public forums "all" and "everyone".

If they have set rules you should start by checking into them weather people ram it into your face or not?
Really all I see is butthurt all around.
The admin prolly could have solved the issue by a different route, but that depends on some facts that aren't provided.
As the player you are butthurt you can't do what you want and decided to bad mouth a server over it.
Players will always gang up on admins simply because they can do what they want. It's up to the players to just leave if you have problems with the way it's ran.

I still prefer them because the official servers are overfilled.
Over 100 people on one server is terrible.
Sure some people like that, but I prefer >20 Servers.

According to the OP, that ain't what happened.
Yeah, Admins make or break servers. No Admins typically lead to the latter every time. I'll take my chances on custom servers over Official any day of the week.

I know around 20ish custom servers isn't that many I've joined on, but when you put in 3-5 days of hours of work on each server only for something supper shitty to come up, that's hard to bench the numbers.
Also because I'm fed up with joining a custom server and busting my ass for 3-5 solid days straight to establish myself only to find out there's a bug on the server that ruins the entire experience which forces you to leave (Magma, Oxide, etc), or one of us get's banned for an illegitimate reason, or the population dies, etc, it's always one or the other, but any one of them is a full reason to stop playing on the server.
The only reason I'm not on official servers (I do love them) is because of the performance issues lately.
I'm up to try some real good servers if I can trust your word(s) so shoot some IP's and let everybody know.

I get killed all the time on my server, what's the big deal? You're an admin... if you really do get pissed because you lost some gear, just give it back to yourself. But banning people for playing the game the way it was intended... Well, it's just dumb.

The fact of the matter is that the OP didn't provide all of the story, just the information to make his side stand out. What complaints were received?
He was banned after doing something the admin doesn't want on his server, yes he may not have known and the admin may have over reacted at first but he was also un-banned and allowed on the server shortly after this fiasco. Now he knows what he can and cannot do, but instead of forgiving and forgetting, it's a bunch of bitching. He states he is the better man but I call bullshit.
Besides, it's pretty obvious not to kill the invisible guy.
*Edit: I also don't think people realize the admin is not a player. He was not mad over "losing his stuff". The admin is 24/7 admin.

I 100% agree with you. I got raided and I wasn't mad. I was impressed with their cleverness and complimented whomever had done it. I never ban people for playing the game LOL.

I am an admin and have never banner someone because they killed or raided me. These people are just bad and need to go back to single player games and fight AI. They are not ready for Player vs Player, or maybe I am just old. I come from the UO days of constantly losing your stuff from killers and thief's..

Me too, I am an admin and never banned anyone for killing me. But I banned one player because he was suspicious of player tracking hack. It was my mistake to ban him and here is why:
After helping out noobs who get killed all the time, this is why I have realized. Their complaints should not be fully trusted because high chances they are bluffing how they died or exaggerate the situation causing admins to ban wrong players.

Every admin thinks they are a great admin. Personally I would pay to play on an official server with paid admins.
Every single server ive played on (over 600 hours of gameplay), ive played on a lot of servers.
Every one has some form of admin abuse, you just have to settle for the lesser evil in order to play. It is bullshit that this is our only option.
Just please give us the option to play on an official server with admins, even if its pay a monthly fee to play on it. I guarantee it will be full and youll make more profit than it costs to pay admins.
Im not saying its for everyone , lotsa people obviously like the player owned servers and that's great. Im just saying give the rest an option, try it, maybe im wrong and you can just shut it down. (but I know im not)
