    sounds like an awesome idea to me. I also like the idea of capturing people, if you capture someone from a large clan and hold the hostage you can demand a ransom lol. However, I only see this working if there is something implemented into the game that makes dieing more of a risk. Like losing research or a skill system where you lose all your skills you have acquired or something. It would be nice to have the option to tie up someone and force them to walk. It would be good for bandits and it would allow people to role play cops as well. There is a lot of bandits roaming around the cops come up and take some down arrest the rest and force them into a building. How fun would that be to use c4 to bust your friend out of a player controled prison or being a bandit and kidnapping someone. Just an idea.

    In a game like DayZ SA I can understand, why? Because I'd get tired of rotten fruit. However there's too much food about, and too often do you blow into a base and find 1000's of cooked chicken.

    Its not an idea that needs to be worked on right now, I'd like to see them add more to the existing content rather than going off on a tandem and forgetting to complete what they've already started.
    As much as I wouldn't at all mind to see cannibalism, and was going to be all "yeah do it!" I think you make an excellent point. This should be added to the TODO list and leave it at this for now.

    The biggest argument against allowing cannibalism is this:
    I spawn at my base, my buddy kills me, collects my meat. I respawn, he kills me again, collects my meat. I continue to do this until he has a full stack of meat.

    That would remove the need to hunt.

    I'm against it for that reason-- too easily abused.

    What if new spawns had only a little meat on them, say, one or two chicken, and only after a spawn cool-down of half an hour? The amount of chicken dropped from the body would increase to a maximum of... what? ten? twenty? chicken at a rate of one or two per Rust-day.

    Something along those lines, anyway, to prevent abuse. The numbers could be changed, of course.

    If you wanted to make it more complicated, the average hunger level of the player during the course of a day would make them gain or lose chicken at the end of the day. More successful players would get fatter, hungry players would stay skinny.

    they could bring back zombies! once a body dies off it turns into a powerful zombie. like the damage of the black ones but the speed of the red ones. so you don't stick around after the person dies.

    I'd be ok with this... if the person eating/harvesting people had their model changed to look like a zombie.. red shirts and all, change/remove/upgrade your clothes? sorry still red. (possibly other penalty's to the person doing this as well. less vision distance, more gun sway etc..)

    I need to know who to shoot.

    No thanks. If you need a game to be sick and twisted for you, i.e. if you think that idea would be really cool, you need help. It adds nothing to gameplay, and is just sick for sick's sake.

    Let's see you and some buddies trapped out in the wilderness with no idea what's safe to eat and what isn't, and it's been about 4 days with no food. You'd be eating one of your own friends in a heartbeat.



    Yeah I can't get on board with this. No need for an extra food source. And real people get sick when they are cannibals.
    A person can eat any meat that is properly prepared, human or not. If the end-times do come, you'll be one of the first ones to go.

    If cannibalism has an actual effect on the game and not just another food source then sure bring it in. But cannibalism for the sake of cannibalism is kind of stupid, if food was a lot rarer than yes let's eat ppl but food is not a problem in Rust, once you have 30 pieces of chicken you are set.

    If the devs come out after another 2 weeks and have only added "cannibalism" the community will be pretty disappointed. Let's see new building pieces and enemies before we start eating each other.

    With that said, cannibalism should be a permanent thing to your character, once you eat that human flesh you suffer forever. Or until you stop eating flesh for a week in game time.

    From what I read in the tweet, it's about harvesting chicken meat from a human body.

    Sounds more of a joke than anything else. Do not take it too seriously.

    As for the infinite gathering, it is not possible, as you have a respawn cooldown. Farming a pig is faster.

    Also there are no side effects to IRL cannibalism unless you are eating a human who died from disease. So maybe an idea would be that IF the other player died from radioactive NPC you have a chance to get sick, or if the other player died by a normal NPC you had a smaller chance of getting sick. Also maybe increase the chance of getting side effects or sickness the longer the dead person has been dead.

    Also I like NeatHedgeHog's Idea to stop abuse

    Also maybe another way it to determine how much meat someone should posses depending on the value of their inventory at the time of death.

    You should be able to farm a corpse for players heads and put them on large spikes! Lol Good way to warn freshies to stay away from base!

    Oh yea and the dead player actually plays the zombie - until it gets killed by another player again :D
    And the Loot won't become available by killing the player but later by killing the zombie player =OOOO
    And Zombie Player only are able to walk around at nights, so the Zombies won't be instant killed after a players' death :)

    Zombie Players shouldn't be able to interact with anything, however they may use their fists to destroy Wooden Walls and Metal doors =O (Should be taking them real long tho to avoid abuses, shall only be for the threatening noise) AND of course they can't loot anything.

    To motivate them staying as Zombie as long as possible, some stat could increase slowly for the reborn player permanently until that player would die again (so not for all eternity but for a lifetime)

    People are animals and if you are starving you aren't that picky about what kind of meat you dine on.

    Personally, I think it would be brilliant and would definitely add to the game.

    I think cannibalism should be added to the game. Not because I want to eat people, but, because a realistic feature like this shouldn't be excluded from this game just because it's controversial.

    I remember watching the dying animation in Golden Eye - a touch of chilling realism that was (we've all sorta become numb to those things now) - but you could take that macabre twist and make people groan and roll around in pain while they are near death - leaving blood trails on the floor and you could possibly be harvesting while they scream (as a person would) - this would balance the system as you'd give away your dirty deed.

    It's pretty dam dark, but would actually be pretty shocking and not something you'd want to do often due to the consequences (leaving the blood trail also as you'd be COVERED in blood yourself and dripping it randomly) - Even bodily functions should be trackable IMO - would turn into a real hunting game!

    I think this thread should have a poll. Im in for cannibalism but players feeding on player should have some kind of disease or inconvience, otherwise people will stop eating chicken breast (it would be easier to eat naked sleepers). In the movie the Book of Eli cannibals got temblors, though they didnt explain why, we could have something like that implemented in the game.

    I was just going to post this, something detrimental could be a good effect from eating human meat. So you can if you absolutely have to, but its not the best way to feed yourself.

    I know this goes against Garry's organic gameplay methodology, but sometimes gameplay has to be skewed in a particular way.

    Id totally support this idea if they reduced the number of animals on the map in relation to the amount of people playing. I would have an incentive to hunt humans for food. Otherwise I see no point since animals are there to provide food for you.

    So the more people play on the server the less animals are there and the opposite - the less people play on the server the more the animals spawn.
