Great - last update flooded our base, we lost everything - why they did that without warning?
Are Garry's children trolling us???

Without warning? Obviously you haven't been paying attention...
Flooded your base, as in the water level is different and your base is now under water?
Uh oh... We have a few bases built right on the "old" ocean waterline. This doesn't sound good!
Just checked with god mode some of the bases on my server, water rose 20-25 meters.
Holy hell, facepunch has implemented climate change. That, or the sudden tilt of the earth changing (sun's path is now former south to north) has messed with the water levels.
Quick, we all need to build an ark so we can survive the flood and come to rest on Mt. Everust (which is now in the west instead of the north).
How many cubits is a wood plank?
We have a moon now .. Tides rising :p
Garry mentioned that the island changed location.
In before personal teleporters
Yes water flooded lots of bases in our server, that's sad. I know the devs are implementing stuff and etc but that was trolling!
It's Alpha
I've been in Alphas where complete server/character wipes happened multiple times a month, both with and without warning and where servers were down constantly and only up for very specific time periods.
Whatever you do in Rust right now, don't do it for longevity.
DRINK!!
Surprised it took 10 posts.
Even if there was a warning, "Bases near the coast will be flooded with this patch" what good would it have done you? Your base would have been flooded anyway...
No, I would have at least picked-up the stored items and moved inland. For us, this is a pretty significant setback, but completely avoidable had we known.
A unannounced server wipe would be understandable, but something that only affects a minority players is annoying...
If an Alpha tag and the warning on the steam page isn't enough, I really don't know what is. It's too bad we defy natural selection, most of these posts wouldn't exist.
Ahhh I see. Well that is unfortunate. Hopefully a wipe isn't too far away though. I figured there would be one this week with the update so I just used all my c4 raiding everyone on the server. Most weren't worth it but hey, at least I used them instead of stockpiling and losing them to someone else. :P
Take a screenshot! I'd love to see the flooded base. XD
Will do... I'll suicide-dive in the water and snap one just before I die! ;)
You mean your posts? The ones where people yell 'alpha' as if the fact it is in alpha means that no one can complain about negative things that happen to them? Here's a clue -- they can. Some of us might chime in 'yeah, that sucks'.
He's not asking for a refund.
The worst part is, you wonder if it was even intentional. I can't believe it was, probably just some random artifact of them changing the visuals. Who knows. Either way, sucks for those folks.
No, the ones where people complain about not being given a warning when the developer not only gave ample warnings that all things are subject to change, but also said you shouldn't buy the game. That's more warning about a product than you'll receive from the vast majority of any company.
You're a prime example of society coddling those without the proper cognitive capacity and critical thinking capabilities to exist in a world where we allow nature to take its course.
There were societies that behaved otherwise. We tended to wage war against them.
You call 'coddling'. I call it empathy and/or sympathy. It's not surprising that a recent study showed that internet trolls tend to lack the capacity for both.
That's neither here nor there.
Yes, things will change. That doesn't mean you can't communicate what those things will be. I still don't think it was intentional, so I guess the OP can at least take solace in the fact it likely wasn't an intentional lack of communication and was more likely just a cock up that won't be fixed because ... it's an alpha. Much like the fact that the sun takes a different path in the sky for no apparent good reason.
Yup, it's quite likely that they didn't even think that anyone would even try to build down on the water's edge, seeing that there are only a few places on the map where it's possible in any case.
If they get around to seeing this they'll probably think "wups, missed that one!" ;)
Seriously though, its alpha expect to get fucked over by patches quite frequently. Seriously.. get over it. This is just out of hand, now they have to warn you about every little thing that could go wrong? You guys probably wouldn't be bitching this much if they just simply required a complete server wipe. Get over it this shit is going to happen ALL THE TIME!
Miss the point much?
I already said that a server wipe would be fine, but a weird occurrence that wipes a few select players and leaves everyone else untouched is understandably annoying...
alpha
Wow, that sucks. Sorry you lost your stuff, man. Still pleased over-all with the update, though.![]()
Who cares? Just call your base Mont Saint-Michel as I did for mine :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=232150430
Thats funny :) thanks for sharing it
As requested. The line at athe top is the water level! Bummer...

OMG Completly sunken! thats really bad luck mate...im sorry for that...
Can't you just enter your house?
As far as I know the water does no damage.
Sorry guys, this is my bad. I increased the water level without realising the huge repercussions of it. Sorry :(
Neptun forgives you.
Thanks for the reply!
As I suspected, it was an honest mistake. No worries, just means we need to find another home...
Underwater bases sound so cool. Or like a giant commune on a platform. Has anyone tried this yet? If not I'm about to make the most badass wooden sea fort ever.
Rapture! :D
Waterworld!
Imagine Rust with the feedback of some people:
Well, actually it's not so bad.
Some nice camera work there, with the fckin tree in the background...
What?
