You can cheat without getting banned for cheating. You can sell rust items for dollars and make $1,000 + per month (if you send me 50 dollars on paypal i'll give you an M4 with 250 bullets and full kevlar). You can kick or ban anyone from your server for whatever reason you want.

You know... Some people don't trust people when they say: "OH HEY! I give you item for dollar!". They might be scamming you..

For me, the benefit is just the fun. I enjoy helping make the other player's experiences as good as possible. While being social and fun at the same time. I'll set up little events and such and we'll all get together in small rad, build a ring of camp fires and shout native American chants.

Plus it's fun teleporting into a person's base, and while he's looking at his storage crates, I build a Satanic star in their base with camp fires. When they turn around and see the devil in their house they shit their pants so bad.

The only benefit is knowing that nothing underhanded is being done and items are not being spawned in left right and center. Never wanted to be an admin on a rust server and even refused an invite to apply to a cpl of servers, but after running into plenty of abuse, had to go with a group of others and make our own.

Hardest part of that is getting people to come, join, stick around and discover that you're actually on the level.

If you admin fairly there is no advantage. In fact expect your play time cut in half by people screaming "OMG I NEED AN ADMIN!!!!"

    /tpto HystericalPlayerWhoMustHaveJustSeenAHacker

"Can you delete this pillar i misplaced?"/"tp my friend to me"/"make it night"/"i just wanted to waste your time"

6 days in to a server wipe and i still dont have a base, weapons or anything.

    Enjoy your responsibility!!!!

    Edit:

Seriously though, its not all bad, you do get lots of love if you admin properly, and generally players are pretty thankful for your hard work.

You are in control of your server and you can create the perfect Rust server in your image. No need to constantly server hop because of hackers. You make the rules to the game that you think are fair for all players to enjoy.

Although you have many responsibilities as an admin, I think owning a server and playing fair and having a nice environment for others to enjoy and share with you is awesome!

The only benefit I have found is having $23 less dollars in my wallet. Other then that it's a time consuming job and I haven't actually played rust for weeks because I have used my free time on keeping the server up and running along with everyone happy.

The only reason I see, for now, is that my server will not be Wiped. No one want to start from beginning. Active admins watch for cheaters(hackers), Rust anticheat addon CHEATPUNCH On, VAC On.

I run my own server for one reason alone and that is to prevent admin abuse, helping others is a added bonus (just got a helpful personality, what can I do).

I was wondering this myself .. i mean .. when there are 4500 players online and 5,000 servers to choose from .. you begin to wonder wtf is going on with all the servers? Seriously

I don't see any benefits in being an admin, nor do I wish or seek benefits, being an admin should not be done to gain anything from anyone, but make the gaming experience on a server good and fun.

Alot of pople are renting servers just to get admin powers, most of these servers are often close to empty, an admin should not be acting all god'ish, but stay "behind" the curtain, and let the gamers game, ofcourse seek out cheaters if any are suspected and such.

This amongst other things, are in my book comon sense of being an admin.

I started my own server honestly to help other people learn and understand the game.

I have been running mine for about three weeks, and the rare times that I get to take off the admin cap I have built myself a nice 6x3 two story wood home... (I remove God mode, and don't spawn anything, just play normal.) Where on another server I play on I have a massive metal skyscraper..... If that gives you an idea on how much a decent admin can actually "play".

I am having fun helping people out, it's a thankless job sure, but for me it's fun.

Yea, I recognize that. I run a TTT server, and that is like a nightmare. Especially if you have a lot of players on and your staff team is out on a fucking clusterfuck.

But, it is fun being an admin, and getting loved by the players is also a ++.
