    Yeah this goes without saying. We're not letting the community dictate what we do. We're feeling them out about stuff. The actual reason for that poll wasn't for them to decide whether military or dinosaurs should get added. It was to feel people out about something else on the list.
    This is from this Thread.

    You've misunderstood entirely. None of these options will be implemented regardless of if they win. We could still see dinos, we could even see military. It's just to feel out the community and clearly this thread has told him we want vicious, tough npcs to actually survive against. Nowhere did Garry say military or dinos werent a possibility, in fact, it seems if the community really wanted them down the line, we could get them if enough suggestions came through. Way to fail at reading.

    Garry... until we know where you want to go with the game, choosing an enemy is kind of just fluff. The real question is: how much AI do you want and/or feel confident programming into these zombie-replacements?

    Having dinosaurs would be an easy implementation... they'd have the same "attack/retreat" AI of existing animals. But putting in dinosaurs or mythical creatures would cement Rust as a "playground" sandbox game.

    Having military, or roving bands of NPC savages, or small communities of NPC survivors defending small pre-built but somewhat randomly spawned villages.... would all require intelligence and tactics, as well as the ability to use firearms or distance weapons.

    You tell us... do you see that happening?

    People could get abducted and stuff. Would be super scary!

    I didn't see subhumans in the list of choices, especially the ones from H.G. Wells The Time Machine. Plaque has swept the Earth, and in humankind's weakness the subhumans from below are making a bid for dominance. They come out in dusk to night and have limited distance vision but are attracted to light and noise. People gather resources in the day but at night must use extreme light and noise discipline and stay quiet in their shacks to survive. Having a fire by an outside wall could attract them or mining woodpiles and rocks. Some devious intruder sneaks past the creatures in the night to perhaps throw a grenade or flare at an enemy camp to draw the wrath of the hordes to it, perhaps to loot the aftermath or for revenge. The are trying to usurp humans so they are also collecting blueprints and other items so would have a reason to have loot on them. Nakeds would try to gather at dusk or dawn when the creatures are few before night and can hide from the KOSers in the day. Have to change sounds so only running would have footsteps so a person could walk by them at night stealthily. Instead of airdrops, they are automated drops from space processing facility that is still in orbit, no aircraft just a meteor trail then the pop of a parachute.

    I don't have the time to read the rest of the thread so just ignore this post if it's already been said. I don't know about day time. Mythical creatures would be great. I don't mind. But at night, hopefully, you could add some shadowy creatures a bit like in don't starve where you go insane and shit fucking kills you if your light goes out in the middle of the forest. Yes please.

    I personally would like to see zombies replaced with military. Its bad enough that any of the aggressive animals are pretty easy to kill. With military it would link with the airdrops and actually make it somewhat harder to get started. Plus they could add npc's that can be non-aggressive and aggressive depending on the exposure of radiation.

    More radiation and more mutants sounds the most interesting without getting wildley fantastical. Could be quite engaing to have radiation as an actual threat in the game - instead of just some numbers in the corner of the screen you have to watch. Very few games seem to do radiation justice, despite it having such horrific potential.

    Aside from mutant animals, insects, humans (plants?) - with endless variety (giant mutant hawks taking on the attack helicopters anyone?) - we could have actual fallout that spreads across the map with the wind - radiation sickness that leaves you with blurry vision, vomiting and coughing fits (which will alert roaming bandits) unless you have the medication to treat it (or can improvise). Intensley irradiated areas that you can only venture into with protective gear - physical fatigue and impariment from radiation sickness etc etc. Instead of everyone spawning with a geiger counter welded to our foreheads - make it a piece of equipment that has to be looted or stolen - perhaps even crafted from rare scrap electronics drops.

    Maybe even over time - with too much exposure, the player themselves could mutate. Zombies are overused in this day and age, but rarley do we ever see or experience the process of becoming one in a game. What if players in Rust could become zombies with too much exposure, or maybe even gain advantageous mutations, with their own set of drawbacks (for example, enhanced night vision, but partial blindness during the day.)

    Radiation could be an invisible enemy that constantly stalks the player, creating the tense atmosphere of never knowing if an open sunny field will kill you in a matter of minutes or not.

    Use gods, Just give no damned hope to the players, all powerful, ever present, and all destroying Gods. You don't even have to model them, no one knows what a God truly looks like except me and boy did it burn. Upon using Gods you will notice a profound effect on how many players play rust. So divine in fact it would be as if you were using divine power it's self to cast all the players out of the game unto a new level of existence. So I say unto you, Gods for good!......... ps I am drugged, probably in holding cell of unknown origin, and aliens keep screaming at me. Daffodils.

    this. especially if when they are first implemented there are no patch notes about it and the abduction event is a ridiculously low chance so the first few times it happens people will think its made up when someone on the server yells "ahh im being abducted!"

    Dinosaurs would be amazing. Imagine a massively multiplayer online Turok, where a group of players is trying to take down a large dinosaur (maybe a super rare t-rex equivalent) and it drops very nice loot.

    That, mixed with the survival aspects already in Rust, would be amazing.

    I think you should replace it with Military Cannibals (They don't have to carry around heavy weapons, but they can. The Military Cannibals would just be really good at evading attacks from players, very Combat Trained NPC's) or Mutated men that are naked and run around setting up camps with actual tents and have women with them, there should also be mutant children. All of the should work together to hunt down survivors, and don't make the roads an easy way out, let the mutated men/military patrol the roads. When a player runs to loot the city give him the threat of the NPC's trying to loot it as well, give the NPC's something to do rather than just is at their little camps. What would be nice,

    You and your friend want to loot a town, but those fucking cannibals are standing and watching guard.

    "I got this, watch my back" your friend calls to you, so you pull out your bolt action and sit up on some rocks.
    Your friend sneaks in with his 9mm, but is spotted.

    You see him shoot over and over, then those cannibals kill him. You see him lying there, and then one of the cannibals rip off one of his arms, the other rips off his leg. You see little cannibal children scurry over and feast on the remains of your friend. You have two choices A. Run away or B. Avenge your friend, you have the distance and the ammo.

    You choose B. I aim down your sights and focus the adult cannibals, since the children are less of a threat. I pick on off, they notice and look around for the shots, you put another bullet into the chamber, you fire again this time you miss. Shit! they saw you. You have the last bullet in the chamber and you fire, hit. They are running towards you, even the children as they are running up on you, you see they all have knives. You reload and yell at Garry for giving your bolt action only 3 bullets. You shoot again, but not a head shot. It's time to run, you get off the rocks and start to make it up the hill, you're running and you see a group of nakeds.

    "RUN MOTHER FUCKERS RUN!" you yell.
    they look at you and they chant.
    "imotep, imotep, imotep."
    Noobs you tell yourself as you're running for your life. You take a quick glance behind you and you see those same Noobs being torn to pieces by the cannibals. You see the leader of the cannibal pack stare you down then hollar into the air. "WJOWHFIOWHFIOWHJ"

    That is what they should add to the game.


    Also with this idea after you get killed by the certain cannibal mob, that same mob will in fact be able to keep your loot. Overtime the NPC's will collect loot for their own personal camps. This will give a player more of a reason to go and raid the NPC camp, because it would contain lots of gear. When a raid fails that camp of Cannibals will have even more gear to themselves. I really believe you should consider this idea, not dinosaurs or ridiculous fairy tale creatures. When the apocalypse comes, i am sure you'd find tons of man eaters. Add mutated children too! and possibly the ability to play as a child, games don't really offer that, and it would be really fun to have that.

    Then people need to stop with the ridiculous don't add Military because its in other games. Every option i s taken from every game, the design of the game and how its made is what makes a game good, not a bunch of random critters running around.

    T-rex and Pikachu are the two new bosses added to the game. Really? the game would be played for about 5 days, have a smaller fan base with mostly children playing it. The horror/Survival Co-Op Mass Multiplayer makes the game feel so much more fun. Imagine teaming up with your friends trying to kill a group of Cannibal NPC's with having the threat of seeing your friends be torn apart one by one, or the feeling of success when you've murdered all those NPC's who horded the unlucky players loot.

    Not a group of friends going to kill Pikachu and the Magical T-rex. The game would be packed with children and turn into some ridiculous MMORPG.

    Cryptids of some sort? especially if the map is expanded, and areas that are far away could have higher concentrations of cryptids, like bigfoot, mothmen, and giant animals/snakes that are extremely intelligent and hard to attack or kill. Bigfoot type creatures could live in dense forests, yeti could live in the mountains, especially if vast mountain ranges and large mountains - bigger than mt everust, were added. Mothmen would be pretty creepy and could live in abandon towns and buildings, flying down and attacking people. Chubacabra too. Could easily be explained as mutations from radiation.

    also you could add human-esque tribal people that aren't inherently hostile, only react to hostile actions, could react positively to friendly behavior, maybe even trade, like a ramped up version of the (suuuuuper dumb) villagers from minecraft? They'd have to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay smarter though, otherwise it'd suck mucho asso.
