Did nobody even consider the fact that perhaps the best way to make up for the OP(ness) of the scope would be to add DRAMATIC drop after certain distance, similar to how the bow works so that it is still very difficult to get a headshot.
Yeah, but ballistics are another topic.
Btw I'm not sure if Unity even supports physics like that.
    I should google that later.

Once the rest of the map gets developed, I think there will be enough room to include scopes.

It's a delicate thing, I'd love a scope mounted on my bolt. But I see the problem of camping en KOS-ing naked man from camp to... Mmm... I guess best option is little nerf when you add a scope. Mp5 with a short range scope would be nice to for the closer combat but I guess it's to CoD then. I think maybe a better bow is a better and more 'Rust' option, like a crossbow..?

I dont see how a bow is a better and more Rust weapon considering there are 9 types of guns in the game and only the bow. The map is huge, once it gets fully developed, camping snipers will have to find prey or get bored waiting. At this point I don't see why we couldn't have at least a 4x scope.

A magnification scope of x4 or something would be nice, probably wouldn't want to go any higher than 6 or something

Please give it a rest all the people who want this game to be nothing but stones and bows and for there to be one make shift pistol on the server that takes 300 hours of farming to make. Military weapons will be essential to keeping a large portion of the user base, and while I agree going full CoD will ruin everything, there's no need for an end of the world tear fest every time someone proposes a different or new gun

I don't know about the maximum range but if its so limited don't you think people would start complaining about not hitting targets? Don't they need to change that if they will implement scopes?(sorry i don't know which is the maximum range)
What was dumb about your suggestion was that Garry ultimately wants to make the game as realistic as possible. If you put a scope on your rifle in real life, will it make less damage? No, the scope has nothing with the power of the rifle to do.

How about binoculars? You wouldn't be able to look through them and shoot at the same time. but you could lock someone in with the binocs, then switch to your weapon.

The last I heard they were removing military weapons. Scoped would just be OP as anything. Hilo sight is already amazing. Binoculars on the other hand was something I mentioned to my friends the other day and they agreed with me that they would be awesome.

ive been able to hit targets at near max range with the bolt action, although making a clean headshot is a little more difficult. I wouldnt want to see a 12x or anything like that. maybe a 3x, or 4x maybe. It feels as though the holo scope as it is is a 2x compared to iron sights. As with most games the snipers get to be a huge pain in the ass and in this type of game that would probably cause more harm than good with a high powered scope
    8x scope would be perfect
But i think it should look like its handmade, just like the bolt itself
On the other hand this increases the number of campers. My idea is to see some kind of reflection when someone is aiming at you, just like in the new battlefield games. On big ranges only very good aimers can kill zigzagging guys.
But as some other guys said before, the scope should have some cons to it, like increasing the sway, making shots at max range nearly impossible

Why not? If you have a scope you have a great advantage over who dont, and even more over those naked man. Nerfing the weapon when scoped it will ensure more balance. Want a scope? Do less damage. it really makes sense to me.
Let's talk about realism for a minute. How does attaching a piece of glass to a rifle, have any impact on the power of the cartridge being used? This makes no sense. A scope does one thing and one thing only - allows the user to see further. Scopes don't limit damage on real rifles, nor should they in this game.

Seems to me based on your responses, that you are trying to make the playing field level. Well, in survival, if someone has a scoped weapon, yes, they have an advantage over others. That's how it is. So plan accordingly - imo.

The games' guns are very unrealistic compared to real rifles that they are supposed to mimic. Garry is know for making games that do not have to be accurate and yet this game is supposed to be dead on?

    Edited:

I'm going to make another forum topic specifically about binoculars, I'll post a link on this post :3 Thanks for all the awesome discussions.

Here is the link guys :) http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?...3#post43913363
