Post #41I'm a girl and I don't mind playing as a dude. You don't even see your character yourself, so why does it matter? I honestly do not see why your wife is making such a big deal out of it. It's an alpha, she can't expect to have everything she wants in it. It's really silly to not play a game just because of that. It's like saying you're not going to drink from a blue cup because it's not pink.
Edit: I do like the idea of a female character though, it just sounds fun.

I think it's one of those things that function on the margin. My wife has expressed a similar sentiment which seems to imply she'd play if there was a female model (one day there probably will) but she's not super excited about it and the lack of one just tips her over from the "would play" box to the "rather not".

I think that female characters wont stop people killing them couse there is always some little kids that just would shoot nude chicks and start t-bagging.

I am a woman, and honestly I like that everyone is exactly the same right now. No one has a gender at this point because there is nothing differentiating people from one another. Even the men who have male models - you don't really know that they're men. They could be potatoes. We don't know. I like that for the time being. I don't like getting special treatment just because I have a cooter, positive or negative attention alike. If someone doesn't want to play the game simply because there aren't female models, then I don't think I'd care to play with them anyhow.

But honestly I doubt its really that much about pixel breasts rather simply a female counterpart to the male majority. But honestly I don't see that much of a big deal with the whole thing, honestly if a lady model suddenly appeared people would think it was some sort of a new zombie or something.

Also, I'm like 90% sure most of these "girlfriends, wives and sisters" would suddenly not want female characters if they came with a mandatory removal of character nudity.

I don't really understand it, it's a video game, played in first person. She doesn't see her own body in game, what does it matter if she looks like a female to others or not? Most people in the game don't know her anyways.

Exactly. I'm sure most of the people asking for a female char will then demand for the game to be 100% mouse driven so they can play one handed.
I think they should only add an overweight female class, with hair on their legs, armpits and chin. All those guys above claiming to have "wives/gf who won't play" will then get their wish and have little reason to play one handed.

You are a moron. Seems you cannot grasp the simple fact that a large portion of modern gamers are now women. Hell, most of my friends that I play with are female. So I have never understood why so many men seem incapable of comprehending that women make up much more than 1-5% of the gamer population.

The adding of character customization should be added only to increse player interest and in-game variability.

Feel free to show me a citation regarding this "simple fact" that a large portion of gamers are now female, they exist and I acknowledge that, but to assume they come even close to being noted as a large portion of ANY game is both ridiculous and hilarious, sorry if my comment upset you, looks like there are some girls browsing this thread, that's for sure

I could provide some statistic out of my arse, but that would be a logical fallacy by misinterpreting data as you did. Instead, I will rely on the observable fact that I know so many gamers that are women that the number is almost enough to compare to my male friends that are gamers. Or the observable fact that female commentators are currently dominating most news sites like the Escapist, and other media outlets such as Twitch and Youtube.
It just annoys me when people make the assumption that very few females play games. It just does not make any sense to make that claim in the modern age of gaming.

Hi, I'm a man and I usually play female character in games, it's not like I'm a pervert, a very large part of players like to play as the opposite sex. The thing is I don't like play as a bearer man, I' like to impersonate a more agile ligth weight smaller hitnox type of character and yes, I like women. You probably will say that this isn't a RPG so there is no needs to impersonate a character but actually this game is from an role playing perspective one of the most immersive I saw in a long time. It's not about see nude womens, it's about create a costum character you want to play with.
That said I know there is no needs of that in an alpha, I'm just trying to explain the point of view of many people.

I'm sure they would have to change that the models are actually nude if women entered the game. They would have to be covered up (males too ofc) for controversy reasons.

they should overwork the current player model, atleast all basic textures and animation, then we can start talking about skins and new models etc...

There's a censor filter for a reason. If you can't handle naked bodies, keep it turned on.

+1 Need females and more player models, but give that a month. Women play this so I don't see why they wouldn't add the female character models. Can't say I will be happy if they add the nudity, sure it will be funny but it will be a little too... Morbid, running around murdering naked women and cursing at them over voip. Seems like this game might damage a man's fragile mind, if you look at the track record of history, someone will be negatively affected by it. But hey! Not my problem, right?
That is why we need a better nudity system, no genitals, just loin cloths. I will admit that nudity is fucking hilarious though.

They added beds, which were completely unnecessary, so what would be wrong if the art team designed a female character model? Art assets and animation, I assume, have zero impact on the person developing the cheat engine and more behind the scenes programming features. Female characters are coming, so why throw a hissy fit if some people want it now rather than later?

Beds are unnecessary... ? Well if you didn't already know you can only respawn at a sleeping bag every 5 minutes or so, but if you are using a bed there is no respawn penalty.

Could have been accomplished without beds. The radius on sleeping bags was a good fix on its own, beds were just fluff. I'm not sure why either of you felt the need to focus solely on this aspect of my post and contribute nothing to the topic of the thread.

As a female Ruster (Rusty?) this is something that I initially wanted... until I made the mistake of speaking on the mic. I had to leave several servers due to being sexually harassed. They'll kill me then ask why they can't eat players or just follow me around for no reason.
I even had some creep follow me to my base and talk about raping me. He didn't even take my things, where I had several BARs/M4s/loads of ammo/resources... he literally just stood outside my door and said sexual things to me, so I exited the game. He then broke into my base, killed me and that was it. I came back the next day and he still followed me around. I stopped going on that server, but I still refrain from using the mic now. I'd rather just die and have them take my things than risk going through that again. The game is scary enough as is lol
I can understand why your wife and other women want to be represented in games, especially ones they love to play, but in my experience, it's safer to just blend in with everyone else. Of course there'd be a bunch of other female nakeds running around once it's added so my scenario hopefully won't be as prevalent as it's really not fun to deal with at all.

Female here. I know like 2 females who enjoy gaming, and probably 50 males that do. It's ignorant and unrealistic to say that it's equal amounts of guys and girls gaming. Most female characters on games are actually played by men has been my experience.
