Great news, really, I didnt expected facepunch to have worked on their own anti cheat system this fast !
Cheater here. I can confirm I was accurately banned for ESP/Lighthack as they are the only features I used. This was checked using the playrust.eu checker. My steam64 bit is here: 76561198062808494
I and 3 other people that I 100% know were cheating, were indeed on the list as well.
However I know of a group of people that definitely had someone using ESP, as I could see them with my own ESP, and they were able to follow me no matter where I went. None of them were banned, however. If you would like any more details or confirmations, please e-mail me or send me a PM, happy to help with your progress. (Believe it or not I've been eagerly awaiting a good anti-cheat system. I only started using ESP because I was tired of being a victim of it.)
The only people who cheat are those who know they can't win on merit.
Why don't you prove your not hacking first?
Thats how it works right?
funny discussion here.
I think most other anti cheat system use some sort of screen shot system to check the user GAMEscreen for strange UI elements. Like Red Boxes around enemies or transparent walls etc..
I know for sure that Punkbuster is using that since it exists (13 years now).
People asking for putting all the important information server side ... maybe in the future when server and the internet are fast enough so your client receives the result of a hit calculation in a timely manner (below 30 ms id say).
(you shoot, the server calculates your position, the enemy position, the bullet flight path, which hitbox was hit, result sent out to every player on the server at the same time)
As long on your RAM is information that can be manipulated and sent back as a result to the server you wont stop people to hack it.
You can just make it harder and more annoying to change their hacks.
And we are talking just about the public visible cheat software like AA, ••••••••••, etc.
If you write your own little aimbot and use it for yourself, chances are good you will never be caught.
IMHO fairfight is going into the right direction. Realtime server side evaluation of statistics. Means they are not looking for injected code, but try to find players who behave strange. HS ratio of 100%, flying or teleporting, etc.
It's hard to prove a negative. The proof of his hacking is there, anyway.
Still no actual response. This is just awesome.
I mean, its not like you were banned for not hacking.
Okay, it's baffling how people are saying Garry has distributed a trojan. I mean--what would his motive/reasoning be?
Rust has one million sales
and Garry's Mod has 1.4 million sales
Garry's Mod has made $20 million, but he gets less than half of that so let's just go with $7.5 million.
Rust has sold 1 million for $20 (some sold for $60 back in Dutch Sales, some sold for less, but this seems fair), $20 USD * 1 million copies = $7.5 million (after Steam takes half, just an assumption, it may be less. I couldn't find a source, and with Garry's Mod his taxman "got some of that less than half", so I'm just going to go from $10m to $7.5m)
So, you guys are suggesting with $15 million USD, Garry wants to distribute a trojan and steal your credit cards? Uh huh.
There you go, you have used a hack, admintools are serverside via plugins on the modded server not on the client.
That is possible, and combined with prediction it can be seamless. In CS:GO all the gunplay is handled on the server, except for spread which uses values shared between the server and the client (which allows for no spread because the random number that spread will use is generated with the same seed as the spread is generated with on the server in order to make shooting feel smooth.), which allows for extremely last minute adjustment in order to seemingly have no spread if you dont mind shaking like crazy.
You mean you didn't hear what you wanted to hear.
The tool he referenced is, at least from the screenshot's looks, an autohotkey macro palette, which VAC doesn't care about, because all it does is sent text to the console to automate commands.
That doesn't mean it doesn't have other fun things lurking inside of it that would trigger a VAC ban, but just macroing text into the console shouldn't be too harmful.
My having a membership to a website does not mean I am hacking. Or is that how is intel is gathered?
I looked into it. You are a cheat. You have a cheat installed.

I call BSSSSSSSS. I am sitting here on my lunch break not even moving, on USEAST1. I go to cook in the furnace, game lags a bit, so I restart, I can't get back in as it says "I am banned." Now here is the kicker, I installed this game on this computer not even 20 minutes before this....
[CBK]Shallowbane is my ingame name.
Shallowbane is my steam ID

Who are we supposed to believe, a Ingame Developer (Who has a massive understanding of their game, and is garry newman no less.) or You?
Your a cheat.
I played CS 1.0 to 1.4 but not after that.
How many people do you have on the server, and if you play, id like to know if there are a lot of "corner shot" moments where you get killed a second later even when you are in cover already.
Very interested to see it working. I also think that this is the only real solution to solve hacking.
... no need to respond, ill google it :p
you used the same username on a cheat forum that you recently registered on.
Your a filthy cheat, and dumb.
Man, with my 411 hours played in rust, this is the best moment in the history of my time playing.
I've spent too much time attempting to fight hackers and prove people out. Hell even had one guy take a screen shot of himself while hacking and posted in a few places.
Your response is my above post. You dirty Scammer.
Really, is that on my computer that is currently off, or my work computer that I logged in on once and got booted?
that's very different, the networking in CS:GO is far more refined than it was in CS 1.0 and 1.4
Edited:
ill answer this so he doesn't have to
he isn't going to tell you
Maybe I missed it, but will CheatPunch play nicely with Rust++/Oxide?
Does it matter? Playing on a clean computer doesn't absolve you of the sins you committed on a different one.![]()
Holy shit Garry, excellent work!
I had a hacker on my server offer to buy me aimbot, I took him up on the aimbot and have been using it for a total of 1 entire day!!!! Anyways I used to ESP to catch other people with ESP, once you have ESP it becomes blatantly obvious who is and who isn't hacking. I'm really bummed because I spent another $20 on my account so I could admin my server better, the amount of hackers was completely overwhelming and was getting to the point where no one wanted to play on my server anymore and since using ESP to catch people I was able to detect at least 20+ hackers in the short span of a day.
I never used the cheat for anything other than ESP, never killed a single person with the aimbot and did some good with it ridding our server of some notorious hackers that were previously hard to catch. I hope this new anti cheat works for good I am going to be really disappointed if a new aimbot just comes out a week later and I'm back to having the same problem except with $40 less.
If it's not a cheat.
Is there a full list anywhere ?
Rust++/Oxide modify Rust server files in order to operate. That is why I'm wondering how CheatPunch sees changed server files instead of changed client files.
it's really shitty to admit it, but to be completely honest the way I caught pretty much anyone hacking on my dayz server was using some serverside tool that tracked players locations and then put them onto a map, and allowed me to see which ones spawned and ran directly to the gear.
Edited:
it does?
Just posting here to say I'm very glad that an anti-cheat is being implemented into this game so early in development. Cheaters were one of the main reasons I left Garry's Mod. Props to Garry and the team for making this and I hope that it grows and thrives alongside the actual game.
What's your SteamID? The one under your avatar isn't banned?
most GOOD garrysmod servers easily tackled cheaters because of how stupidly easy it was to detect lua cheats.
Hello Garry, I'm sorry to bother you but I think the system have a few flaws right now.
By no means to talk bad about your new anticheat system, it looks good so far but I think a few people have gotten banned by a mistake.
I personally admit that I downloaded a cheat a few days ago, I never actually ran the cheat.
I deleted it like 30minutes after I installed it, but it might still have been in my trash can.
It says I am banned on: https://playrust.eu/bancheck.php
But I can still join all the servers, I don't know if I am banned or not? I can confirm that I have NOT launched any third party programs on rust.
My steam id: STEAM_0:1:69067436
I am not VAC banned either, I am confused about my status on your ban check :s
I would love to see this investigated a bit, thank you.
lol. just... wow. This has got to be the lamest, most pathetic, most incredibly stupid attempt to get unbanned I've seen yet... and people have REALLY BEEN GOIN FOR GOLD
my steam id is:the_kromz ,i didn't hack.
I'm guessing, by him mentioning extra costs, that he created a throwaway Steam account and bought a second copy of Rust specifically to avoid another VAC ban on his main account.
