That's a VAC ban, and that means Valve is sure you hacked. Facepunch cannot help you with VAC bans. Open a ticket with Steam Support, they are the only ones who can help you.

There have been at least six incidents where numerous people were unbanned. But these were all for legitimate false positives, not blatant liars.

My steam id is :STEAM_0:1:15413745. I don't know why i was banned 2 days ago, it just popped up suddenly while I was playing on my friends server. This is a mistake and feel that it is very unfair that you guys have implemented a ban system that isn't working properly yet. I can't play on any of my friends servers anymore and feel I have been robbed. I don't see how you can ban me for "light hack" when I run around with torches out on the regular...
Please look into this and even monitor my steamid in the future, this beta banning system has made a mistake and I truly want to start playing with my friends again.

The only thing I can think of, on my friend's server we had alot of "impersonation" issues where people would copy your friend's name and try to trick you into letting them in your house. This could have been what happened, someone having my name and coincidentally hacking at the same time or maybe it's not possible to make a mistake like that?

Considering it works by STEAM ID which is the fundamental underpinning of your identify on Steam, no, Cheatpunch is not getting confused by the impersonation mechanic.

That's like saying playing as Spy while hacking in TF2 will protect you because VAC thinks you're whoever on the opposing team you're disguised as while you play. As if the game itself loses track of who you are because you're disguised as a pyro.

And that if you talk on the phone with a ridiculous foreign accent the NSA can't tell it's you if they're listening in.

Now I'm sure you're a cheater, because that is insane weasel logic in an attempt to deny the evidence.

I'm a new member here and I checked your steam ID. Says you were using ESP and light hack. Since Garry hasn't confirmed a single false positive, I'm going to err on the side of caution and say that you were using a cheat and you are now trying to get out of it. Problem is, that when the cheat is detected, cheatpunch then takes a screenshot specifically to ensure no false positives. We can wait until Garry decides to grace us with his presence again, but I'm still inclined to believe the bancheck over you, given it's current track record.

I'm seeing reports just pull your SteamID from steam_api.dll (uint64 SteamUser()), I wonder what would happen if you rewrote that call address in memory to spoof other SteamIDs (old Ace of Spades servers did nasty stuff like this to gain features -- not hacks, it's actually originally memory tampering AoS server code that was leaked on the net that brought me to FacePunch long ago). It may just result in missing client-side proof though, considering the server still tracks like 95% of the CheatPunch ban as far as I'm understanding it.

I wouldn't be surprised if hacks start popping up that start dropping the screenshots that Garry is getting, Punkbuster operated the same way and has that same problem.

No, you're the dumb one if you think that he wouldn't acknowledge a legit false positive. Since almost every person in this thread that has claimed a false positive has gotten a response from Garry proving that it was not a false positive, I'm more inclined to believe that there aren't any false positives, so far. I'm sure there will be, but it appears that after the automated system, an actual person checks claims of false positives. That is damn good customer service, in my opinion, as no other website or game does that. Youtube is notorious for having everything automated, even the system people use to dispute copyright claims is automated. No actual person looks at any of that stuff, ever. You guys should be so lucky that Garry, personally, takes a look at these claims of false positives.

You CAN decompile applications to C (ANY application to C, assuming you're dealing with machine code and not some intermediate language to be JIT/interpreted), but it makes it an absolute clusterfuck of gibberish (because it's basically trying to determine what C code generated the machine code, and due to compilation paths and optimization this isn't straightforward).
