so slow the production of your game to stop people from calling it a zombie survival game that just so happened to bring in over 1 million buys? wow ur so smart
Sure, let's bring another million players on top of the current million before zombies get taken out so TWO million people can feel like they got ripped off after the internet hype machine caused them to buy a "zombie survival" game under false pretenses. That sounds like a great plan.

With the removal of zombies Rust has basically just become an animal and human killing simulator. I understand that the developers are trying to avoid creating a DayZ clone and there is going to be a new mob implemented soon.
But why remove zombies before implementing the new mob? Was I the only person that found zombie farming somewhat enjoyable when starting out in the game? In the night they could be kind of creepy and presented a challenge when you had little gear. Rust already sets itself apart with the crafting and house building to the point that it is very different from DayZ. The social aspect of Rust is unique all on it's own.

In my opinion they should keep the zombies but also add the new NPC's. Zombies weren't very intimidating by themselves but if you agro several you could die quickly. I always enjoyed games like Fallout 3, which had zombies but did not focus on them entirely.
I know the devs probably won't hear me out, but just having animals to kill get's old quickly and makes the irradiated towns boring. For this reason I'm creating a poll to see how many people miss the zombies.
Before it was an "animal, human, zombie killing simulator" so nothing much has changed, has it?

I didn't start playing until after the zombies had been removed. But I would like to see them brought back. I don't feel like there is enough of a challenge at night aside from the occasional wolf popping out at you from the darkness. I want night time to be scarier.

In this case you wil never play Rust again.
    They will not come back.

Zombies being removed for stinkin' bears and wolves sucks big time!!! I have a Multiplay server and I have made it PVP but as new player and PVE friendly as possible using mods.

One of the MAIN things that was pve fun, was building a tower for everyone in front of the two tanks high rad zone and trying to head shot the zombies for cash. Since the devs in there wisdom have plonked a heap of rocks in the zone and removed zombies, you can no longer do this. You can't headshot ANYTHING in the game now, and all of these elements having been removed, make the game SOOOOO much duller!

I am now seriously considering canceling my server and going on to play other games (Like Titanfall). I have noticed a drop in players since these changes were made.

This game has NOW become boring unless pvp is available and pointless for pve once you have build your stuff!!! I understand why you Devs have done this, but this decision IMHO is a mistake! You will start loosing players who aren't 'only interested in PVP' and I cannot see how this is going to be good for you.

The guys I play with and myself have put alot of effort into building our bases and I have put alot of effort into making my server inviting but less and less people are playing now that these changes have been made. It's only worth playing atm if there are people on the server and this is happening less and usually only happens during weekly peek times (ie Friday, Saturday). So now this has become ONLY a PVP game. I already have plenty of those and just the building side of things is no longer enough to keep myself and others as interested.

If this isn't fixed soon, I won't bother sticking around and I won't be putting all the effort in again to get another server, set it up, build new bases, gather friends, etc etc as this takes a lot of time. Time I can spend better elsewhere.

Leaving them in wouldn't have effected the game play and but taking them out does, IMHO.

There is no need to paste your rant into multiple threads.

Rust is not a zombie survival game, and the devs made this decision seven months ago. Zombies are gone.

You are complaining about an alpha being alpha. The zombies were stock Unity assets because they were placeholders. The red animals are also placeholders and will change.

If you can't deal with alpha, go play other games that you have fun in for a few months and then come back and see how Rust is doing.

    Elix,
I'll post where I want and it's not a rant! If that's what you read, then perhaps you need to read more carefully and with less of an ego/bad attitude. Or perhaps you prefer to belittle rather than help. After all, no one else has thoughts as wise and worthwhile as you.

    To everyone else,
I am genuinely concerned with the game and gameplay and wish it to succeed. I got myself a server BECAUSE I like it so much! And just going away and coming back later may work for some but certainly not everyone. I, like many others, have limited time to spend on games and tend to pick a few games that I like and stick with them. After all, once I have spend a fair amount of time in a game, I want to stick with it to reap the rewards of my effort. And when I build up a good friends base in game, I want to keep them. Again, I'm sure I not the only one who feels this way.

I was hoping Rust was going to be one of those games I could stick with as it has so much potential! But as I stated above, we have already spent a fair bit of time with this game and both myself and my friends feel ourselves getting bored and looking elsewhere. As a thoughtless person once said, "Rust is not a ZOMBIE survival game", but it is supposed to be a FUN survival game right?

Does anyone have some CONSTRUCTIVE comments about this? Anyone else feel similarly? If so, I'm hoping the Devs will read this and consider making some positive changes to help overcome this, whatever they may be.
