I just created an account to back Blucifer up; i've played on his server since he's started it, pretty much. He is an amazing admin and all around good guy. However, I can confirm that the problems he's facing with his provider renders his server unplayable, dang near all the time.
Blucifer, let me know if you want to give another provider a shot... I'll bring my horde of friends with me and just point me to a donate button =P
I'm partnering up with another local guy and he's going to help me get things going again. He's going to handle the web-based stuff and I'll handle server-side stuff. We're going to have a separately hosted website, a donation section, and a news/blog section. We're considering having a "Join Our Community" Application that people fill out so we can keep track of who's playing. But that will come way later.
I'm going to try another provider around the time this billing cycle is finished.
The question is would you rather have in-game items to accompany donations that could potentially be removed when the wipes occur every 6-8 weeks? Or would you rather have real life items? Maybe we'll do a blend of both. I'd like to see Mile High Rust t-shirts around town. :-)
Eventually, we'll use the donations to set up servers for multiple games for a larger gaming community that we'll call Mile High Gaming. I've already trademarked the name, so it's a plan in the works. We'll do local meet-ups every so often just to socialize and welcome new people, maybe do a raffle or something at the event, and we'll be the ones running things so each and every server that we have will be responsibly managed, maintained, and adminstrated just the way you guys like. Fair with no bullshit.
