Basically, we wanted a vanilla PVP server, based in Australia, with no admin abuse, where we wouldn't be afraid of our houses and characters being erased overnight. So we bought one.

Server name: Multiplay :: TBB Rust
Address: [net.connect] 27.50.72.166:28115
Server Location: Sydney, Australia
Capacity: 50 (will consider increasing if interest is shown)
Admins: TBB :: Acid001, TBB :: Phototonic
Airdrops: +10 players
Website: http://rusttbb.enjin.com/

Rust is a game about progress. Your character progresses by finding equipment and researching new tech; your world progresses through the building new towns and structures. In our opinion, server wipes are antithetical to this. Ergo, we don't do them.*

As far as rules go, it's pretty much about chat etiquette. If you're persistently annoying or abusive, we'll probably warn then ban you. Also, if you try pressuring us for a wipe then try to hold the server hostage when we say no, we'll definitely ban you.** Most of this can be chalked up to some kind of common decency.

In our experience, 50 players is generally pretty optimistic for a privately-run Australian server, but if we see a lot of interest we'll consider upgrading. So far the server has been pretty forgiving to friendly PVE types, but this will probably become less so as population rises. So there's some incentive for friendlies to band together for protection.

Remember, we bought this server because we couldn't find a sufficiently immersive Rust experience anywhere else. We're paying for this server because we were sick of our experience being ruined by abusive or impulsive admins. I don't know what other guarantee against abuse we can give you.

* Obviously, sometimes wipes are necessary. This game is Early Access, and various patches and balance improvements may require a wipe. We also need to consider the possibility server failure or cheaters artificially unbalancing the world. Phototonic and I have discussed ways of mitigating this, and the most obvious solution seems to be – in the event of a wipe – reimbursing your stuff with our admin magic. In this situation there's a fine line between immersion-maintenance and admin abuse, so if it arises we'll take votes to see how you guys want to proceed.

** I'm talking about people who demand something from the admins then go fearlessly griefing people until they get their own way. I want to reiterate: this IS a PVP server and raiding is fine. But there's a difference between facing the threat of raiders – who generally want to profit from the experience – and griefers who operate at an immersion-breaking metagame level with a desire only to destroy.
