    Who is tired of the map? I think it definelty needs new variety, maybe snow, various forest, cities, and snow covered peaks.

    Maybe even caves that u can hide in.
    A great implement would be lakes w/ fishing and hunting w/ spears. We could set up tpees for temperary shelter.

    Map is huge but there are spawns only around the road :(
    Better will be make somehow spawns because map is one big island for 1k player easyli...

    BTW - I saw somewhere new textures maybe on Trello and looks nice...

    Please understand that not everything they are working on is public information. It is very likely that if they are not working on a map at the moment, they do have plans to improve/re-do the map in the future.

    Eh I mean I guess, but they believe the zombies make it a "dayz clone." I would be fine with the mutant animals if they are more mutant than just a red painted bear :P. Even though that is probably a place holder as well.

    Now, lets say I make a new map in Unity3D, is there a way/does someone know how I could implement that as a map for a server? What should the map type be for it to work as a mod?

    Well there was some blog made a while back by Garry talking about mutant animals, and like these chickens would open up and have like 3 layers of teeth and look creepy. Then there was like a deer that had like sharp points over it. Stuff like that where there is actually a since of a "mutant" animal would make it good.

    Maybe five or six days per season, short winter days, long summer days etc., rain, snow, dry n lush grass, deciduous trees - that would make any map more interesting.

    After a while, any map would get boring as it is atm tbh. unless that extra space is populated with resources, but with a new map? on the cards (so to speak) it'd be interesting to see what's in store for us.

    The server hosts (EX: HFBservers) are in full control of the map the server runs.
    Thus, this wouldn't be transferable. Yet.

    I would love to have a map with a big city in the middle, sort of a "last bastion of humanity", now crawling with mutants and all sorts of creeps but also with nice loot hidden in the alleys and basements. Place, where you either waste bazillion bullets to clear your way, or just rush in, get what you can, consume 20 anti-rads and rush out pulling a flock of deadly chickens behind you. Basically one, massive PVP and PVE zone, where fresh spawns have no chance surviving, if they were hoping for easy high-tier loot and hardcore gamers would still fear to visit on their own.

    Back when Rust was close to launching on steam, they announced a new map that looked great. It was on the Trello page but I guess they either abandoned the idea, or they're very close to finishing it and want it to be a surprise.

    I wish they could show us it or let us provide some insight on the matter of biomes

    garry already made the money with rust, there will be no more income, like monthly payments or microtransactions for visuell items.

    so why invest ressources, if there is no more to get?

    hope im wrongt, but in the last years, this has become the norm in indie gaming industrie.

    You could say the same thing about Minecraft, but it has continued to make more and more money over time, more than anyone ever expected. Rust has sold a lot, but it can sell a lot more.

    yeah true, but minecraft is a casual game that atracts alot of players.
    the % of people that are really into ffa hardcore full loot games is very low.


    there need alot to be done,but in my eyes rust has the basics to be the best game ever made,
    if it goes along the way minecraft did (manymany things to build to atract the casuals)
    but at the same time stays true to its hardcore/survival aspects.

    My understanding is that they are removing the fixed buildings. At a guess, they are doing this to focus on the wilderness, constructable buildings, draw distance and having lots of players in the same location. There are performance challenges to having more types of object in your map.
