There's that part too.
There's that part too.
I dont think you understand my point, let me explain it in as much detail as possible.
Why not let him try something that he thinks is possible? Even when you and everyone else thinks its not.
If a kid walked up to you and said "Hey, if i flap my arms hard enough, i think i can fly." Are you going to tell him "No, humans cant fly, ever." Or are you going to sit back and watch as he tests it and figures it out on his own?
If you tell the kid he cant fly hes most likely going to blame you, or at least be upset that you fucked his whole world view.
Again, ill ask you guys, why not let him try?
Look, steamfreak - if he wants to try something let him rent his own server and test it there. Otherwise there's no point in letting him waste some other poor saps time.
Well, if you don't want an answer to your question, don't ask it. You could say: "Shut up and let him try." Instead you are asking 'why' and don't accept any answers.
Now your starting to get it.
Now your being technical.. I ask why simply because its funny to watch you struggle to understand my twist on humor.
If people are talking like XoX, and he isn't alone with his opinion, it's time to get the point where dreams end and thinks are impossible. Loominal stated he has a server and asked for instructions. So there is one's trying already.
And yes after thinking about... injecting dll's into windows would be similar to alter shared objects within linux which aren't pgp'ed... if it'll be possible you can also announce root password of server as a motd.
Thanks steamfreak.
Again, I say to you all, if you do not understand script injection detection, go google online classes or something to help you understand it.
To those of you who are trying to figure out what I'm using? That's not going to happen.
I am not going to just give out what I use, I want to first test it privately, and if it doesn't work, then so be it, but guess what.
If someone decides to inject a script to the server and elevate their permissions to Admin to shut down the server? It denies them access to doing that by banning their IP from connecting ever again or until they change their IP.
I like all the questions, but please, sort out your thoughts before you hit the Post Quick Reply button after ranting for a quick sentence. The things most of you are spouting off are entirely false, and gives me a idea that I shouldn't post about fixes anymore. I like to help communities of games, I have worked with www.i-stats.net personally and discovered that what I have and use works, confirmed by them. If you know anything about cheat detection via stats in games, these guys are the ones to go to.
I just came here to ask a simple question, and instead I got told that its impossible, and doesn't work and cant work because its not a "thing". Well I wouldn't still be here if it "wasen't" a THING.
Cheers!
Edited:
If I could get the files to put it on my own PC at home, I would just host the server myself, I have a powerful enough server to run this, and both of my FTB Minecraft servers. With ease.
Only thing is, they don't allow people to get servers anymore from what I read.
I'm lazy, link me.
How can I contact you further for testing?
Edited:
Here, let me google that for you
(User was banned for this post ("Let Me Google That For You" - Craptasket))
I'm going to sit here and frown until you link me for real and not some bullshit.
Lol. You can be banned for posting that link? It a virus or something?
Or just pissed at his sense of humor? lol
~ C
Wow, you really banned him for that? It was simply a sarcastic response using a website meant exactly for that purpose.
Why do i even bother with these forums if Mods can simply ban on a whim.
Its not a virus, its a website that you can use to make sarcastic replies, the website literally Googles it for you.
Im actually upset that he got banned for that. I think its about time we started redoing the rulebook around here, i just took a look at the section rules and found nothing against Let me google that for you.
What are you talking about here seriously? Are you author of a system implemented on both these 3 softwares and that is proven to have caught every cheat on these three softwares. Sounds phony.
Considering the amount of cheat around on Rust, we safely assume that VAC is not up to the task. It was designed for CS, so far I understand it detect significants signatures of known hacks. It surely cannot help that much on an alpha software using an minor engine (and not source that all valve games use).
Not even a matter of VPN. Is IPv6 completely deployed? No it's not. Are there enough IP with IPv4 right now for every internet user? No, it's not the case. It's not new that some provider, in India but not only, do NATs to provide internet to their customers. So banning an IP in 2014, it's for sure a way to ban legitimate users.
You can surely implement test based on IP, delay, cross-checked in case of suspicious things, but not a simple ban, definitely not.
The client... on the server.
Have you some code that we can check now?
So far, it really looks that you do not even understand what a client/server architecture is. So please provide some code.
And dont tell me your code need to be secret or any crap of the like. If we can read the code of OpenSSH, gnupg and the like, we surely can read also the code of your great system for Rust.
Because he's obviously full of shit. Sitting there telling people to take online classes for cheat detection and script injection is ridiculous because they don't exist. If he would have said "I have my CISSP" and given his CISSP #, or said he had a software engineering masters (not comp sci) then it could have lent some credence to his argument. However, he chose the stupid route and spouted off nonsense about things he's clearly undereducated and overconfident in.
lmgtfy is a site where the one googl'ing for you is saying "you could also done it like me".
But I looked through the results and this is crap. If someone would ask how to make a pizza someone can use lmgtfy but not for such a specific question. Seems he was attaining some online courses and read some books and thought it's the whole truth.
Aaaand now the assholes jump in to take over now that OP cant post.
Moving right along, time for me to go back and count the number of brain cells dying on other threads.
So, banning him was the solution? Since when the fire is fought with the fire? Since when immaturity is fought with other immaturity?
P.S.:sorry for bad english
Agreed. I think its time for that mod to retire.. hes acting a bit bitchy.
inb4 i get banned for posting my opinion on mod abuse.. gg guys.

Facepunch has certain posting standards, and LMGTFY links haven't been funny since 2010, they're childish and unhelpful. If you're going to post a LMGTFY link, you might as well not post because you're just shitting up the forum.
Bans are warnings on Facepunch. A lot of the rules are unwritten, and you learn by lurking around. They're generally common sense. The mods will also usually reduce or undo bans if they think you've learned your lesson and won't be doing it again. Bans are the way mods tell you that you need to improve your posting quality if you want to stay here.
Facepunch doesn't have time for people who can't be bothered to at least try to put some effort into their posts. This isn't a new policy, it's how the site's worked since the beginning, and if anything it's become much, much more relaxed.
You used to get autobanned for misspelling. Or forgetting the apostrophe in common words.
Edited:
oh dear.
Considering there have already been ban waves..?
A lot of times when someone posts a LMGTFY link, I actually think it's just a tiny bit helpful until I get stuck in the stupid step-by-step animation. It's better to just post the link to the query that goes directly to Google.
I will admit that sometimes I can be tripped up with searching for what I want, because sometimes I don't have the words to explain myself efficiently.
If I ever make a forum......
Incorrectly writing an ellipsis disqualifies you from having a spell-check banner.
Didn't know it was a rule that it had to be 3 dots.
Lol. It actually is a rule in English writing.
". . ." or "..."
Why... am I caring so much...
Not only in english also in german writing and XoX should speak, at least a bad, german.
Except at the end of sentences, when it is in fact four (the ellipsis is three, and the sentence-ending period follows).
XoX used six.
Thinking of your average posts makes this sentence incredibly funny.
Yeah, in Ancient Rome, they loved the concept of unwritten rules, it helps to keep in place. But here, what are you but another paying customer of a game, who makes your "rules"? Patricians much?
People come here for the games. Not because they feel so highly of the average posts on these forums. I'm still here because I wonder whether the people behind Rust are at the image of this forum or. But my expectations are getting lower every minutes.
Exactly what I'm interested in. People like you patronizing everybody in the name of Facepunch, but none really stating whether they are really linked to Facepunch or not.
Edited:
Is a ban wave sign of a successful antispam device? I've seen waves of banning on MW3 - and the game remains unplayable (different topic; peer-to-peer online multiplayer cannot be secure). On the other hand, I've never felt any wave of bans on CS/CS:S.
Edited:
Sounds weird. Can you document that? In some other languages (French for instance), it's definitely three dots, no less no more whatever the case. I'd be interested in an authoritative reference about this.
Well if you don't like unwritten rules, no one tells you to stay, not like anyone in the moderating team even cares whether you have common sense or not. You're banned and don't like Facepunch? there's always the exit Tab button, and by the way, you don't see ban waves till' they affect you.
It's like Nazi Germany up in here. Christ.
so many fucking boxes here how many trees have we killed so far
This is a very sad sight guys. A guy comes along with an idea to solve a major problem for a game. It would be a huge help, and would make the game much more enjoyable. And you all just decided to shit AAAALLLLLLLL over it. I'm an admin on both of this guys FTB servers, and I have never had to ban anyone for hacking. It's been up for 6+ months, and I have never heard of anyone hacking on his server. He helps us out with our computers all the time over teamviewer. He knows his fucking shit, ok? It is bullshit, you hear me? fucking BULLSHIT, that he get shat upon for trying to help! How many hacker reports do you think are posted on this forum? What percentage of posts do you think are hacker reports? A shit ton. His anti-injection service works, I can vouch for that, and so can everyone who plays on his servers, of which there are many.
We're sorry Tritix. We won't do it again. :(
Can't tell if you're joking. If so, carry on.
But if you aren't, I would like to tell you something. Having written a book on multiplayer game development, I like to think I know what I'm talking about too. Either his service isn't doing what he says it's doing (but works great), or it's doing exactly what he says it's doing, which does jack shit for 99% of the hackers in Rust.
Not a damn one of them is somehow injecting DLLS onto your server. Not one.
you are aware that most of the game is client side
Im back from being banned.. for saying i was going to get banned..
Right then, Is this guy still wanting to test his anti-hack theory? Would really love to see more posts about this.
Yeah I'm back too...
Not going to be posting anymore on this forum.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone posting here is just wasting their time, and I'm sorry if i've wasted yours.
Cheers.
Its evident that the kind of questions I ask, and things I seek aren't welcome in the FacePunch Community.
Good luck growing a community with Mods like "Craptasket".
Cool, I'm sure no one needed a RAT installed on their server.
What's up with the random underlining and bolding? You're emphasizing nothing.
Read and hopefully comprehend this:
"The impossible exists simply and only because we do not strive to make it possible"
