Doors don't magically open just for your friends in real life. This mechanic is in place because it allows the possibility of people holding you up for your code or your ability to change it at whim. It's to promote more varied and creative gameplay, not to give you everything you want.
Well will that line of thinking then as the door owner i also should have to use a key/code every time.

You can now set a passcode on a door and share it with other people.
Once they’ve entered the passcode they can open and close the door until you change it.
This also works on gates.
In addition, you can set a door to be unlocked so anyone can use it without a passcode.
