Ok first off let me say I have used multiplay, nitrous networks, and fpsplayers. All of which I have had a horrible experience with. I will outline my experiences below starting with my first host and going to my last.

    Fpsplayers

Had my server for about 7 days all was fine, I had built up a decent community most of which joined via net.connect then the server I was on got ddos'd and my net.connect ip changed this means I lost almost all of my playerbase as this was back when the server browser was poop. I submitted a ticket with them and it took over 12 hours to get a response, I finally got a response when I was sleeping however before checking the ticket I noticed my server was once again ddos'd, I read the ticket response and they basically said there is not much they can do about attacks. I then jumped ship to nitrous.

    Nitrous networks

Had my server for roughly 2 weeks, all was well, then ddos attack one two and three happened, my server was down for an un godly amount of time and their support took over 8 hours to reply to simple questions and really did not help in any way. I then jumped ship to multiplay. I know, I didnt stay here long but I was just too fed up to go back and fourth with their support.

    Multiplay

Multiplay I had for 3 weeks or so and my gosh they were the worst provider on earth, they oversell their servers SOOOOOO much that you cant even run your server at the slot count advertised when you submit tickets about ram overusage alerts and cpu alerts they simply take 14 hours to respond saying "This is because of a memory leak in rust, you cant run high slot count servers" however I see 100+ slot count servers with other providers..... Simple questions take at minimum 10 hours to get responses and at max so far I have had a 16 hour response. Not to mention my server has been down for the past 13 hours because of "network and attack issues"

Now as much as hfb has been getting shit lately I am tempted to try them out because out of the literally 100+ servers I have joined that had more then like 10 people on it the hfb ones seemed to run slightly better. Plus well from what I see there is maybe 20-30 people who have complained about them and judging by their last responses they host over 2k rust servers I would say they are doing something at least halfway decent as there would be a LOT more complaints if they weren't. It does seem like their customer support is pretty shit atm, however from what i have gone through so far I would be happy with ~8 hour response times XD

I would try to go with another host however none have my location for a decent price.

All in all tho I do have to say, it seems like the rust community attracts soo many ddos attacks it makes running a good server near impossible and for what we are all paying for servers, were not gunna get ddos protection from any host any time soon ;(

I work in a collocation facility, and after having worked on server racks for game hosting, I can honestly say I would never pay *anyone* to host a server for me. To maximize profits they push the boundry of system resources to the point that it becomes almost irreparable when something breaks.

Dozens of virtual machines on one system, hosting dozens of "servers". Very often the systems simply cannot handle the strain. They bank on the fact that most people who rent servers don't actually have "full" servers. As soon as multiple become full on the same system, it inevitably leads to serious problems that take days to fix, if ever.

I have had my FPS server for about 3 days, and the service is amazing. They have gotten back to me on 3 tickets already within minutes of submitting.

Sound like you work for the site. Take it easy there buddy.

Personally, I would recommend HFB, I never had any problems with them. Plus, they don't brand their servers, like Multiplay.
Multiplay is absolutely the worst server provider I've also ever seen. Horrible policies. I am still in the process of getting a refund from them, sadly it's been over 3 weeks. But they claim the funds will one day appear in my account. Foreign companies FTL.

    An Update.

My multiplay server did finally come back up after two days of downtime. I have also rented an hfb server and will see where that goes.

Still holding my stance that Multiplay is the worst provider to date tho.

Next time don't go on a rant before you get your support, that's a total asshole move.

Twelve hours isn't a long wait to receive a response from customer support from anywhere. Did you even read their policies and see how long a typical response should take?

I hope they get more providers than what they have now. NEED to get NFO servers they are indeed by far one of the best ones out there. I have had BF4 BF3 Arma 2 and 3 Servers. Never no real issues unless they got DDoSed. There support takes under 15 min to respond to support tickets at any time.

Hey duto, some pals and I are really struggling to find a Rust host that doesn't seem to be total shit. I've run into your posts a fair bit while searching, how are you liking hfb versus the others after a couple weeks? We're looking into possibly fpsplayers too but nobody seems to be much better than mediocre. Garry needs to release the server files...

I've been quite happy with Multiplay, used them a few times for other games too. They don't have the best response time to tickets but they are great help when they get working on the problems. But you also have to take in mind that the more known server providers like Multiplay will have thousands of servers to deal with so you can't really expect to have a quick response time from their support.

Multiplay have active forums and if you read through the threads/stickies with the issues there is usually a proper reason for service errors/downtime.

Nothing strange beyond the errors that all the other providers have been getting and when they fix/patch something it's pretty prompt - there were some delays with the memory leak, but they waited for fix from the game provider and didn't wipe maps trying to fix it.

And, it's alpha - no whining warranted really - read the disclaimers plastered everywhere before facerolling a buy button.

Just curious but I'm wondering why you've needed to submit 3 tickets already within 3 days of owning the server? There response time for you might be good, but what are the problems?

    Edited:

If a small company can respond quicker there is no reason a larger one cannot respond at the same time. Don't give them an excuse because they are a big company. You sound like the government and tax breaks lol.

If small mom/pop server hosting company that hosts 100 servers employs 1 person to spend 8 hours a day responding to tickets and he/she is able to stay caught up on the tickets and make sure tickets are answered within 8 hours or what ever time you want to pick.

Then there is no reason that

Big bully monopoly server hosting company that hosts 1,000 servers shouldn't be able to respond in equal time. They should probably hire 10 people to do that to keep up with the speed of the small mom/pop hosting company. The problem is they decided to stick with the 1 guy so they can make more money and pass on a minimal discount to the buyer to undercut the small mom/pop server hosting company.

Seriously people need to stop thinking like this and making excuses for companies having shitty products or customer service.

This is the equivalent of just being shot 3 times and then deciding to go suck on a shotgun.

    hahaha so true.

OP, good luck with HFB...they have the worst customer support out of all these hosts. I had a ticket go unanswere for over 26 hours. Plus, I dont think they actually work on the weekend. So if your server goes down on a saturday....might not be up till Monday.

I switched to Nitrous. Their network isnt as stable as hfb (when it worked) but their support is awsome. I've had 3 tickets submitted and the longest I had to wait was 45 minutes for a reply. I dont even care if the server is down. As long as my ticket is answered and I know someone is working on it is good enough for me.

To me that's an indicator of poor service. I see people make that kind of excuse all the time. Honestly, if they have more servers, then they have more income coming in to pay for support staff. So if size somehow excuses poor service, then they are choosing to put customer service second and want to suck out every penny they can get per customer.

At least, that's how I see it.

Welcome to the business world, sir! Aren't you familiar with a company known as Comcast? Profit is the only thing that matters. If you control enough of the market, customer service isn't a factor.

That's how it works with these mega corporations. They know there is no competition, so they know you have to bend over and take it if you want service.

I have comcast, and I absolutely hate them.

That said, I have run my own business. And its sad to see the state of affairs these days.

HFB does seem to have a very good network (I've used them in LA). I can't seem to find someone with decent support and equivalent network for the US West.

I have a FPS server. Its only been about three weeks but I have had zero issues. In that time I have received 4 or 5 emails from their support team with updates on how the servers have been impacted by various patched from rust and how they are dealing with it. (ie cheatpunch and oxide incompatibility initial high lag with the zombie replacement, ect) 12 hours for a response really isn't bad, though its a pain in the ass from a user perspective, part of that 12 hours was most likely outside of business hours(kinda dick move on your part to not include that tidbit) Most of the poster her are probably under the age of 18 and the complaints i see in this forum reflect that ages mindset.

I had an awesome experience with Multiplay. I've had a perfectly good running server for two months, no issues whatsoever.
