Hi guys I made a video on how/where to hide your loot in rust and want some feedback on it. I'm fairly new to youtube so please go easy on me but please check out the video and let me know what you think. I'd really appreciate it. Things like how's the quality, lighting, sound, voice, etc. Just let me know what you think of it and if it's good. I plan to start a survival series in rust soon and I want it to be as good as I can make it.

Another good spot is in the furnace stone. I place my important things I haven't researched there. You place the stashes and fill them, then place the furnace over them but so the stashes are hidden in the rock. So you cant see them at all and you cant access them either unless you break the furnace.

You can also do this type of stashing with a box. Just place a box over the stash and you can only get into the box.

take out the m. and instead of pasting the link, click the little video clip image above the post window and paste it there. or you could use [.VIDEO][/.VIDEO] wrapped around the link without the periods. that way, you have the video embedded into your post and we don't even have to leave the forum to view it

    See?

Now enough with the tutorials, that is a pretty nice video.

I would do that too but the only problem is that small stashes decay very fast. I'm not sure if they decay on tree trunks but if you place them on soil they will disappear in about 24 hours.

the problem with placing stashes everywhere, is that most people will destroy everything when they raid a house, just for extra grief. they'll destroy sleeping bags, furnace, boxes(with loot still inside), even the lowly camp fire. i know because this is how i raid.

no, they do it to grief. everyones goal in this game is to try to grief other players as hard as possible.

I hate to break this to you....but, Majority of raiders break beds. Which then leaves your small stashes in the wide open. Not too sure that's a good idea.

Usually I just place something like 16 small stashes all over the house. Then put some loot in some of them. I also like placing random wooden foundations in the mountains under rock spaces. Its hard to notice them and when you do, they look empty so no one bothers.

I may or may not be trying to waste peoples time with the above post ;D

Umm... No. I wouldn't assume that your goals are everyone else's, it's generally a pretty bad idea.

The video doesn't really give away really good hiding locations but tells you possible places that you can hide your stuff. If you want you can get more creative and find better hiding places. So to the people that saying that it gives away hiding locations, there are a lot more places to hide things. The video just give same ideas.

While I was raiding a base another player logged in and managed to wall me in his loot room. I only brought 2 C4 initially so I had to get creative. I converted cloth to leather in his furnace and made a bunch of small stashes. I then made a bunch of large crates. I took everything out of his crates and threw the non-valuable items on the floor. I pickaxed his crates away and placed the small stashes where they were and put all the valuable items inside the stashes then placed a new crate back on top of them so it was impossible to see or interact with them. I then put the trash I dropped on the floor back in the large crate scattering it throughout. The whole time the player whose base I raided was laughing how he trapped me inside. I told him that I let all of his valuables rot on the ground and then suicided. I came back later with more C4 and destroyed his door this time so he could not trap me again and killed him and his bags. Then I broke the cases and got all the valuables I hid in his own base. In chat, he was laughing how I got nothing for my second effort but little did he know I made out pretty well.

Gotta love it when you outsmart people on the Internet. Most people posses no logic and very little though so if you think a little you can do some pretty cool stuff. Hopefully they will make rust more of a strategy game.

There are plenty of good hiding spots. Especially if you get creative with sleeping bags.

Anyone else confirm this? I either have been 100% unlucky with people finding all my very well hidden stashes, or they decay in this 24hr period. Admittedly I never even considered the decay issue.

Anyone else have a firm tested answer?

It's true they decay very quickly. I did a few test runs and just set a few small stashes outside and all of them were gone within 24 hours or so. You need to place them on a foundation. I'm not sure if a tree trunk works.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Don't worry about "now the raiders will know", just be creative and find really good hiding spots. Most raiders wont check everything.

I usually do this with my camp fire, it greatly reduces the light so it's barely visible. Perfect for cooking at night.
