So i just re-installed Windows 7. Went from x86 to x64. Installed steam, installed rust. Well now after exiting rust all my settings will not save. I went to the rust directory and looked for a config file and i cannot find one. My computer barely plays rust so saving settings is needed... Also hotkey changes are not saved. Has anyone experienced something like this before?

Same happened with my friend, he no longer has a cfg folder. Any changes I make to my current config file also has no effect in game.

    Edit:

If you do have a config.cfg rename it to client.cfg and this will save the changes. If you don't have a cfg folder or client.cfg file I'm still unsure of how to get the game to create them other than having someone send you theirs to use.

    The game won't save keybindings!

    From the latest patch notes:

I'm guessing this means the default config is handled by the server owners now but if anyone else knows different if they could let us know.
No, this means that they relocated the SERVER configuration file. This has nothing to do with the client.

I have edited my post as to not cause confusion.

Found a solution! Just create a cfg folder in your X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\rust directory!

Missing mine also, i've made a cfg folder but it's still empty even after relaunching the game and joining a server.

It's really annoying losing bindings/mouse sensitivity every time i launch the game...

After you make the CFG folder, start the game, open the console and type CONFIG.SAVE (or maybe just open the options and hit "Apply," which i believe does the same thing). That will create the config file in the cfg folder.

It now saves the console settings i've changed (grass.on false, etc) along with anything i change in the option menu.

That's how it worked for me, anyway.
