In a sandbox as open as Rust , locations of opportunity are boundless and with such locations , they all were named accordingly to their traits.

    Resources valley.
    Rad towns .
    Mount Everest.
    Zombie hill.
    Etc.

However, WHY ARE RESOURCES HILL/ROAD called RESOURCES HILL/ROAD when there aren't any resources on them???

Anyone know where to find rocks in considerable qunatitty?
Wandering aimlessly in the wasteland hoping for rocks is getting old.

    These names are terrible...

Why can't we just go with direction names? Northern mountains, western mountains, southern coast, etc.?

Anyway, what is referred to as Hacker Valley is usually a good place for resources. Don't bother wandering in the wasteland, it has that name for a reason: There's nothing but mountains and trees out there.

I've never mounted mount everest before so I can't say for sure , but from my experience of being lost in the wilderness for 3 hours , I can say if you wander away from the roads , the less likely there will be resources

    Edited:

Those names were obviously created by the map creator. While he might have photoshop skills he definitely lacks creativity in naming things.
Maybe when they populate more of the map someone with a little more flare will make a better ones. Grid coords are way better than naming an area anyways, with the exception of the rad towns.

I usually play on UK2 and we had a fortress in Hacker Valley. I made around two full stacks of wood everyday and a lot of stone, metal, etc. too. There are all types of animals there too. Although, it may be because we have a little city there and the spawn rate may be higher since the amount of players is bigger. Too bad we got raided by some hackers, as far as I know, and I guess we'll have to move.

Honestly .. When I am in need of loads of resources .... I empty my bag .. bringing only ammo, weapons and pick axe, and a hatchet!

I stay there for 1-3 day/night cycles and walk home with bags full!!! I kill some animals to have food, and make a camp fire to cook it while I am there...
The respawns are added in 4 different piled areas in there, but it's not much running between them!!

Highly recommended area for farming metals and wood! Not to much animals .. but plenty enough to keep your food supply up!

Shadz is right. Stay around that place when the morning comes, the resources will spawn and you'll have a lot of things to get. Also, go even further, there will be more anymals down the valley. For me, it always had at least one species of every animals. There are no zombies either... Or at least I didn't find any.

Give it a shot, it worths.

Hacker valley is great for resources and usually on low pop servers, it's good for the quiet life seeing as people tend to stick to the road, the main downsides to hacker valley really are that it is quite a walk to the rad towns and there are hardly ever any airdrops there, the whole time I've been in hacker valley there has been 1 airdrop closeby and it landed on the mountain but it can be a good place if you want to play strategically, by getting a base established while you learn metal building materials then you are able to build a metal building near the road somewhere and move over. but i suppose it all depends on how you prefer to play

There are resources aplenty in Hacker Valley, but Hacker Valley is not located over Mt. Everust. What is labeled as Mt. Everust on the map is actually just the south arm of a great mountain: the true Everust. Beyond that mountain, there lies nothing but more hills and trees. No resources.

Before I started my own server .. I was a lone wolfer (still is tho) .. I made my way into hacker valley.. made a small base, and lots of boxes were filled. I found an easy route in and out, where it took me only 4-5 minutes to reach zombies or radtowns. Ran at redish colored morning with empty bags, looted left, right and center on zombies, crates and more... ran back .. usually with a couple of research kits!! After a few realtime hours .. I have all needed to make Metal base!

Made one again in Hacker Valley, and an additional one hidden away in Silk Valley.. Now .. with I had it all good!! That was until we were raided 4 times on a saturday ... and even got the whole base blown up by hackers/dupers... Only thing left was pillars and foundations...

This was the time when I got my own server lol!! Still .. on my own server .. I still love Hacker Valley"

so basically if I start there , I do a circuit along the northern side of the map .
Making this an around... 9-10 days long expedition.

    What should I expect there?

And judging by the aerial view, I don't think there are gonna be much of any landmarks around behind mount everest .
Not exactly sure I can demount the mountain via that route either without some topographic maps.

    Any suggestions?
How much food to bring, how much ammo .
What sort of weapons and armor.

Should I do a trial run of the expedition route first?
Backup timber to setup base alpha , etc.

There are resources in: Ballzack Valley, Coast Valley, Beach, Spain Valley, Portugal, North Valley, Next Valley, Resource Valley, Rad-Town Valley, French Valley, Resource Road, Metal Valley, Resource Hole, Ecko Valley, Secret Valley, Coast Resource, Wasteland South (western half), Hacker Valley South (northwestern corner), Hacker Valley Middle, and Hacker Valley North (southern half).

There is radiation in Civ Coast, Big Civ, Civ Two, Civ Hangar, Civ Desert, and Rad Town. There is NO radiation in Civ Mountain or Civ Road.

No need to have a smartass response. Some places like Sweden don't actually spawn anything.
The highest concentrations I've found are in Coast Valley, Coast Resource, Ballzack Valley, Metal Valley, and Next Valley.

If there's nothing there, it's because other players harvested them first.

Wow! I made an account just because of how wrong you guys are. Hacker Valley has more resource nodes then anywhere else on the map. Great play to gather resources although hacker valley on big servers is quite a popular spot. If you setup shop there better in the east mountains of the valley then west mountains "Everest" a lot of foot traffic there on the west. Many people try ballzack valley but ballazack is always a gimmick because nodes do spawn but after one day of farming you'll find their spawn rate is really low, although making a house in ballzack mountain is by far one of the best spots to hide your base.
