Still practicing lighting and shading. For example, I shaded the right side of them, and then at the very end put a lens flare at the top right instead of the left and forgot to make it a layer. Also, the muzzleflash is weak (never done one before).
Here's the comparison http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/56722
Done well enough.
Gotta work on that posing and comp tho.
It's a slight tide, which I know fully posing a true tide is time intensive.
The problem could have been solved by either actually creating the horde that would demand firepower, or choosing such an angle that the horde seems big while you only have posed 10 to 15 ragdolls.
The other thing I really don't like about this is the center soldier should not be in the center, and his posing is p bad.
I'd have put him off to the left so that our view of him is him between the group and the one zombie off to the left.
Remember to pose so the ragdolls look good from where we see them.
They don't have muscles and clothes aren't going to sag down because of gravity, so the pose needs to be done with the perspective in mind.
As for the editing, might have wanted to try to add blood spatters from impact/exit wounds from the soldiers.
And, assuming the soldiers use fully automatic weapons, there should probably be more than just one, large shell from one soldier.
Personally I feel like the fog is overdone. It's too opaque, to obvious. And with the lens flare, it makes me feel like the sun is awfully bright so I find it strange that the colors seem to be dampened.
That's just my two cents.
Nicely executed to the both of you though.
Obviously you'll get to have more practice and only improve.
Thanks for the feedback. I've never done gunfire before. Also, I was thinking about doing the blood, but chose against it because if how far the zombie has fell. As for the one bullet, the models are Russian sf if I'm not mistaken, so I figures single shots would be more realistic.
Ya the guy in the middle wasn't my best OR my worst. Appreciate the input.
Oh I forgot to add it feels like the muzzle flash has no perspective.
I don't know if that's just me, but it seems kind of flat to the picture.
Yeah, like I said in the original post. First time trying it, and I know it looks flat. Try and do a better one next time.
Also, the perspective seems off. The blur makes it seem that the focus is supposed to be on the guy in the middle, but he's not really doing anything. His back is to the camera and he doesn't appear to be shooting or anything.
Also, zombie poses need lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of zombies, or an angle that lets us think there are lots and lots and ltos and lots of zombies off-camera. I counted 8 zombies in this picture and it doesn't look like there are many more coming.
There's also a lot of rather empty space. I would've put the two soldiers closer together and fill the empty space with oncoming zombies.
The guy on the left is fairly well posed, though. I get a good sense of the action. The zombies are nicely posed as well. The guy in the middle, not so much.
Good info, I'll let Ham know when he get's back.
Great constructive stuff guys, I will be sure to correct future poses with your advice!
Looks really solid aside from one or two of the zombie's posed. Also from the angle the camera is at, it kind of looks like the dood in the back is shooting into the guy in front.
But the soldier poses are done well and the atmosphere is fitting
