Hey. So recently as some of you may know I made a quick video about dayz and rust and which one I thought was better. Well because my opinion has changed I made a new video and its a lot longer and more in depth about both but just remember the video is about stuff I know about the two games and its my opinion but I think both these games are great!

Also if you want to watch a video where I pretend to be Rick from the walking dead watch the video below.

Feel free to tell people which game you think is better but please respect each other in the thread because from experience people get a bit nasty when it comes to defending their favourite game.
Thanks for reading/watching guy. You're awesome and happy playing.

This is sorta like comparing apples and oranges, I don't think many comparisons between both games can really be relevant.

The one thing i wanna point out, is they didnt come out at the same time. rust has been available to play as a early access for much longer, ive been playing for almost 5 months. The steam release was what your considering the early access release, which is false. not that it really matters though, it just happened to be one of your opening points.

i agree that Dayz SHOULD be on steam, i always hear people say ooh its all buggy it sucks this and that, but its early access.. people fail to realize that. even with the paragraph of warnings towards it being early access lol.

one point you didnt make that i think is important, is where the games are heading. in regards to rust moreso, like the fact zombies are being removed, thus becoming simply a survival game.

Also, in regards to hacking, both games are bad atm. rust has AB/WH/SH loot through walls and the ability to dupe, while dayz has AB/WH , a maphack, the ability to teliport anywhere on the map, ability to teliport any item from x distance to your feet(basically making it so you dont have to walk to the items lol) hacking shoudlnt be what makes or breaks a sale of a game. honestly i find more teliport hackers in dayz that i do wall looters in rust. but thats just me

Yeah but that can be said for most games that have been compared in the past.
I mean saints row is as close to gta as rust is to dayz.

Why are people getting so annoyed at comparison between these two games? They are both survivals and alphas so that's enough to go on.

They are completely different games....other then large open areas and humans and zombies being involved....completely different games....

    This post is idiotic.

DayZ is not bout crafting and progression....its about finding loot and killing people.

Rust is about crafting and Building a home base (DayZ base building is broken as crap still and still was in the Mod...)...rust is about creating a clan and taking over territories....DayZ is about logging out in a bush and sniping people when you log in.

this is why you dont review or compare unfinished games as these videos are pointless! dayz standalone is a copy and paste of the mod with a new GUI and more buildings to go in! THATS IT plus a year and half of development on it on top of the mod which is years?

I don't get why games that are completely different can't be compared.

If you wanted to you could compare minecraft to diablo 2. Rust and Dayz are both in the survival genre and a comparison might be a good way for someone who owns neither to make a decision on what to spend their money on.

Although given that they are both alphas, that's where the point of comparison really falls apart, since both are subject to major changes.

Like dieing randomly to shitty glitches like getting stuck in walls or ladders? Then Dayz is the game for you.

Like working on a house and gathering loot for hours just so that a naked cheater can walk straight through your walls? Then I think you might like Rust.

    Edited:

It may seem silly to compare these games but both contain the same/similar objectives. (survive, fend off enemies, team up etc).

Rust is also about finding loot, like a M4 or C4 and killing people/raiding bases.
In DayZ you can make a clan too, Banditry clan, survival clan, "hero" clan where you help others and you can contest "territory" there as well, like a airbase or a town. It's not just logging in and sniping people(for some it is).

DayZ standalone had a huge head start having the springboard from the profits and development of the mod.

Simply because this version (port, really) was released at the same time means nothing.
RUST had to start from dirt. Relatively speaking, it's still barely a game.

Just for the amount of time Rust has been in development I think it is better, I mean Dayz has had the mod and been in development for over a year, and is not nearly as good as it should be.

    P.S
I have both, and play them equally as much, just that DayZ is a massive dissapointment.

DayZ is cool but the lack in content makes this game boring atm. Rust is also cool but too many hackers playing it.

The biggest problem is that lack of content means the only way to have fun is by being a bandit.

Rust has had early access for about a month now, what you're talking about is the closed Alpha with Dutch Auction. Rust got released on Steam five days before DayZ.

At the moment I feel like Rust is a lot more polished and there's a lot more to do then DayZ. In DayZ you spent a hour getting to NW Airfield, get some loot and die to a hacker.

Imo rust is a much better game i mean, we could tell that DayZ is something similiar but without building and crafting. Rust works better, there are less bugs (in dayZ you can suddenly just die for no reason as it was mentioned in the video, happened to me few times aswell). And well as i said i just get more fun by playing Rust. Also all your Rust footage is you running with a rock so i feel like you've never achieved anything in this game i mean like, getting to "endgame" or some gunfights which are pretty damn intensive.

Couldn't agree more. I like dayz right now, but i loved rust before. Too many people have ruined rust, can't even log off with a hidden base. Atleast on dayz you can log off and log back in with your items.
