    Having a little trouble.
I installed the Rust Essentials (1.7.0) within the HFB control panel, but i cant get anything to work, ingame commands, and changing values in the configuration files doesn't do anything to the game.
any help would be great, thanks

Have you set up, who is owner etc.? Or is it all controls? I think I had an issue if I remember correctly, I had to uninstall and re-install. I use HFB too

Not sure if you have got things going yet but here are the basics

    1. Add your name to the ranks.ini file under [Owner.O]
    Example

    Code:
    [Owner.O]
    76561198126391154 # Mr Fabulous
    2. If you are ingame, type:

    Code:
    /reload ranks
    or
    Code:
    /reload all
or restart your server. I find /reload in game more convenient as it saves you from restarting the whole server.

    Edited:

I have started a 'Getting Started' page to the Rust Essentials wiki for those who are new to RE.

Do i need to run a steam update after editing cfg files?
And can I edit the ranks.ini while ingame?

    NONE of that works BTW.

did you change the option in the config to allow prefix to false (if u want to display it?):

    # Toggles the display of a user's rank prefix
    removePrefix=true

you can certainly edit all of the config files while in game, after saving you then just reload all or whatever config you worked on, that's usually how I do it.

If you like pm me id be happy to give you some help, know the mod pretty well...

    1. When you log into your server, is there an indication Rust Essentials is installed and working? (Sorry, checking the obvious first )

    2. Confirmed the new settings have been saved to the server?

    3. edit: If you are ingame, make sure you are logged in as admin via RCON first before running the /reload commands for the first time.
After running the /reload command, you won't need to login via RCON again to use all the RE commands.
    Or restart your server.

    4. /reload all gives the following result?

    4a. /reload ranks:

No indication that Rust Essentials is running sounds like it's not installed properly.

Who is your game server provider? I'm with Streamline and GameServers.
Maybe someone with the same host as you and using RE can help.

    ok nevermind, HFB

    edit
HFB control panel looks like TCAdmin, maybe I can help.

    1. Stop your server (make sure it has stopped)
    2. Go to MOD Manager
    3. Uninstall all MODS
    4. Go back to Game Services
    5. Do a Steam Update
    6. Go to MOD Manager
    7. Install Rust Essentials 1.7.0
    8. Back to Game Services.
    9. Start your server

    10. Connect to your Rust Server
    11. Rust Essentials Confirmation? (Instead of SERVER it will be Essentials)

Here is a YouTube video of a person installing RE with HFB back in Jan. Could be useful. Skip to around 9:50

Thanks for your reply flee0618, I will look to see if there is anything on cfg thats allowing players to use it on other people's items.

Still having a slight issue with the RE. I am able to use commands, none of my friends are able to though. i did add their UIDs and names to the ranks.ini and /reload all, but they cant use them.... also certain things i change dont work either, for example, instead of starting with a rock, torch, and bandages, i have other things to start with, and i still get the damn rock loadout.

1.When you say "they cant use them", do they get any messages to do with permissions?
    ie They don't have permission.
    Or
    2. Do they type in the command and nothing happens?
Which commands are they trying to use?

edit: If they typed in a command and nothing happens (assuming spelling is correct) then they are most likely missing an argument

I have added a few how to's to the Essentials Wiki for the following and plan to add more as I can, hope it helps you get the most out of some of the features:

    - Setting up Safezones
    - Setting up Warzones
    - Damage Multipliers
    - Installing or Updating Essentials
    - Using the rfreeze command

Guys, please take a bit of time to add some items of your own if you can, its the least we can do to help MistaD get Essentials out to more people!

but there is a few of them saying that if they have a usernane longer than 15 characters it kicks him, is there a way to change that?

Hi guys im looking at this mod and i love to install it. im doing my best to read before i do.
I see so much that can be done with it.

is there stuff that is not working? i need to know of?

some mods i like and would like to use
    /list
    /remove
    /zones
    /fac/ally
    /zone

is there Stats? pvp lead killers?

    /tp home?
    /tpa?
    /DeathHandler?

i ben using Oxide Plugins i find them buggy and needing work. making the server lag after a few days...
I read Oxide and RustEssentials dont work side by side this true still?

As a new Admin to rust I like to get the most out there for the guys that play on the server..seem alot love team work and hate FF (dont blame them) fast easy game play with full guns and armor ever time they die.I love setting up killer starter kits and build kits for my players. the next step with warp in and per set tp in to war zones sounds great. Safe zone work well for me

In the first post of this thread you will find a Trello link where you can check all bugs. There are some but we can live with it until the next release :)

In RustEssentials you have remove tool which you can use as admin to remove anything. Other than that you may give access for players to /remover, which they could use to remove their own structures (you may set if they receive back some items back from the destroyed object and if they will be able to destroy ceiling, pillar and foundation)

Zones could be created with /f safezone and /f warzone.

Players could create factions and factions could have allies. You can set in config the damage multiplier for neutral, friendly and ally damage.

There is a /leaderboard command if you want to get stats on deaths, kills and kdr.

    tp and tpa also works.

Hey guys I am trying to edit my rust essentials ranks.ini. I am having crazy problems with getting ownership permissions. Here is what my ranks.ini file looks like.

    # This is the ranks file. Rank assignments along with custom ranks should go here.
    # Please note that the # symbol resembles a comment and should not be used when configuring.
    #
    # The list is read in order of authority. The means the top most rank has the highest power, authority, and priority and vice versa for the bottom most rank.
    # EX: [Owner] has an access level/authority of 5 (highest) and [Default] of 1 (highest).
    #
    # Users are assigned ranks per their Steam User ID (SUID/UID). Using # <Name> is simply a way of easily identifying for future reading and is not required.
    # Users can grab their UID in game by typing "/uid".
    # Example format:
    # [Owner.O]
    # 76560000000000000 # Some Guy
    #
    # Appending .<string> will assign a rank prefix to that rank. Prefix recommended to be only 1 or 2 characters.
    # [Owner.O] or [Member.:D]
    # will make format user names in chat into:
    # [O] OwnerGuy: Hello
    # [:D] MemberGuy: What up

    # Users under the [Member] rank will be ignored - always.
    # To enable the [Member] rank, set "whitelist" to false and "useAsMembers" to true in the config.ini.
    # User IDs found in the whitelist.txt will then be read as [Member]'s.
    # Note: You cannot change the rank name [Member]. If [Member] does not exist, "useAsMembers" will not work.
[Member.m] # DO NOT ASSIGN PLAYERS TO THIS RANK, READ ABOVE

    # This is the rank with the lowest authority.
    # isDefaultRank sets the preceding rank, in this case [Default], as the default rank for new users.
    # The rank set as isDefaultRank will not accept UID specification.
[Default] # DO NOT ASSIGN PLAYERS TO THIS RANK

Sounds like you need to add /uid under a rank you have permissions to in the commands.ini file, can you confirm that? check the wiki for some guides on how to set all that up:
