Tell him I'll throw him a digital reach around if he lets me have it tonight. Oxide is busted..... memory leaks to hell and back right now, crashing the server non stop. And using Rust++ after having Oxide, is like going from a Lambo, to a rusted bicycle w/o the front wheel. Can't take it.
Never said I was part of the dev team, just that Iv tried the patch. It being out tomorrow is pure speculation. But I'm sure you can still give a reach around.
Ive got an idea for factions. If this isn't already. Ive looked and cant seem to find the option. But an option to turn off friendly protection for factions would be really nice. I want to use the faction feature but I enjoy having friendly fire on.

Until you get Magma out, it's very very limited. :-( Rust++ Is like an iPhone, it works amazing and very smooth, but limited on what you can do. Essentials = Windows phone. More options than an iPhone, but not quite as popular. Oxide = Android. TONS of options, but, things unstable as shit, and too many people have their fingers into it, so it doesn't work 1/2 the time.
I couldn't have said that better. I am looking forward to see what Magma presents us, untill then its Essentials for me

Can we get a possible list of new additions to Essentials? So i may prepare myself
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the potential Magma has, and if it has the stability of R++, it's going to be amazing. But at the moment, more options are needed, and Essentials is the only mod at the moment that supplies that w/o crashing every other command. :-/
I have a request/suggestion for you...
It would be cool if the join and leave messages, as well as the various death messages could be displayed without all the currently required variables in them.
For example, the join message currently requires a username. I'd like to have it just say something like "Fresh meat has arrived..." instead of having to work the username into the message.
Also, PvP kill or "murder" messages seem to require both usernames. It would be cool if I could have "USERNAME just got murdered right in the PART!" or something fun rather than needing the murderer username and/or part/weapon in the text.
If all required variables are not present it just goes back to the default message or none at all.
All that said, I love your mod. Can't wait to re-install it on my server when you finish updating for the latest patch!
You don't need those Variables... they're just optional. You can make it so it's exactly how you want it. I'd rather him not remove any options, but instead, keep adding them
When I have tried not using a username such as in the join message I get the default "So and so has joined..."
Only when I put in the username does it take the custom input. I think the vars should stay as an option but not be required as they seem to be now.
I'll try again after the patch I suppose.
You can turn that off in the configs. You don't need to have the entrance info on.

Maybe I'm not describing the situation right. Taking the join message as an example...
I want a custom join message: "Fresh meat has arrived..."
However if I have Join message on but don't use the USERNAME variable in the message, it shows the default message. Only if I add the username var to the message does it show the custom message.
The idea being that I want folks to know 'someone' has joined... but not who it is.
The same problem exists in murder messages. If I only use the murdered players name it shows the default. If I add more vars like murderer then it will display the custom message.

Ahhh, I got what you mean now. I haven't dug that deep into it to know exactly how it all works. Coming from oxide, there was a ton of variables that you could adjust, just never really messed with them that much on Essentials.
I guess while I'm at it...
Another cool feature would be some sort of macro list for admins.
It would be neat to have a file where we could define our own macros for things like TP to certain locations and whatnot.
So entering "/mac tpbigrad" in chat would execute "/tppos xxx xxx xxx" for example and would teleport the admin to the specified location.
and could be defined in a file like:
tpbigrad = "/tppos xxx xxx xxx"
or somesuch.
Would be great for canned admin responses, server notices and all kinds of other things.
I wrote my own solution to this using autohotkey but having it built in to the mod would just rock.

As for the new features - without giving too much away:
- Anti-Duplicate Names. If Bob connects and someone named Bob is on, either kick him or change his name to like Bob (1) or something.
- /bane and /kicke for exact names.
- Multiple Cycle Messages
- /giveall
- Once Messages (Like cycle messages, but only send it once)
- Faction chat
- Safezones and warzones
And much more.
HFB just did a Mandatory wipe on our servers.... would be opportune time for Essentials to come up to bat, and take over. :-)

No, it won't. But server admin should always back up their saved folder incase there's any errors.

Wow they really do that? This is one of the reasons people hate using GSP's
had to be done regardless...i guess the new update had a bug with save data creating lag...only way to fix was to wipe
Personally I'd still rather have the choice.
My FPS server was not wiped. The Backup button in the Cpanel has mysteriously disappeared, though.

Hello, not sure if this has been thought of but I would love to have an option for Admins to craft anything within the crafting menu just by clicking craft on that particular item x amount without having to have the resources.
Having to keep typing it in becomes a pain in the butt!

I don't know what has happened to be honest. Everything was working fine then the next thing I know none of my files are showing up in the Configuration Files [Text Editor].
Whenever I've tried to post my backed up folders into the Configuration Files [Text Editor], I get this message when I save:
"End of Stream encountered before parsing was completed."
Only folder that have files is my ( cfg\server.cfg ) folder.
I don't have a Rust_Server_Data file...
I have installed currently: Rust Essentials and LeatherLoader
I've tried wiping data in the File Manager and installed the Mod multiple times yet nothing has worked. I cannot use any commands or change anything for the server.
Here is a screenshot of my entire server directory expanded out. What am I missing!?

Why do I get incompatible version with Rust Essentials installed and the new patch updated onto the HFB server? I can't seem to get Essentials working anymore :(
I've had this problem off an on while trying to figure out my posted issue. So far if you stop the server and steam update it will let you on. At least it worked for me, I've just had to update steam every hour or so.
Essentials may be updated, but Leather Loader isn't. Last known version is 1.1. Waiting for that to be updated as well. Its causing the errors and crashes of the server. Hopefully Essentials modders will make it standalone instead of Leather dependant. Just wait for leather to update also
Whenever I try to unzip/install Rust Essentials in to the rust_server_Data folder on my HFBServers.com File Manager I get this error message:
Managed\Assembly-CSharp-firstpass.dll: Access is denied.
