Post #1other than hacking of course lol. DONT touch footstep quality in config file. cause i think i just got banned for that. cant join servers. its quite strange tho.
EDIT : to make it clear, i dont get message like u are banned or something, it just gives me some strange error. i'm not even sure if i'm banned but i cant join any servers for sure. i tried a lot.

but i did, i did the verify thing and i did the reinstall thing, its really strange. i made configs default again but nothing works. i've sent the support ticket too. just waiting for answer, wanted to try my luck here + let others know to not do something like that so they dont get the same problem too.

I don't see it much as a cheat unless you could make it sound so much far away...
In fact then my Creative sound card is a cheat by having the option to increase sounds that come from far away and low vol sounds...
I use is gamebooster sometimes, can I get banned for it? (It improves PC performance and show game FPS).

well its default game configs so i should be allowed to change everything O_O i was just testing what was the footstep quality doing. umm i also changed grass something lemme check , grass.disp_trail_seconds 10 this 1. and music volume :D and now cant join the game :D

Modding game data is a no no, don't a idiot and touch it ever again. Try system restoring to a day before this happened. If that doesn't work, you aren't getting back on.

Try deleting the game from Steam, then go to your Steam folder / Steamapps / Common and delete the Rust folder.

do you know yourself what are u talking about? i'm not modding game data and YOU CAN DO IT. i'm changing CONFIG FILES IN THE FU**ING CONFIG FOLDER OF THE GAME. WHICH IS THERE TO BE CHANGED.

hah i'm not stupid lol . and i have disabled system restore at all its very bad thing to have if u dont need viruses cause they are hiding there :D (well as far as i know at least, + i dont use it at all so yeah)

The creative sound function doesn't really work any better than the in-game sound (it makes the ambient sound way too much loud), but it's good that it lowers guns volumes so I don't get a headache :)
About the gamebooster, I always have almost all services and startup apps OFF manually, but the Windows services I don't shutdown them.
Gamebooster already know what windows services it can shut off, and the good thing is that it's temporarily just when the game is running.
Also gamebooster shows FPS, I can take Screenshots and make videos with to

Enable system restore.
I don't know where you read that viruses hide in there. System restore is an invaluable tool if you get stuck in a tight spot.

yea GB is good thing, i was using it a lot on old computer, but i dont really need it on this 1 its pretty beast :D . and i use fraps for FPS when i need. but game booster is a good thing :D btw you said about making those sounds louder that doesnt really makes them be heard from afar. so thats not unfair advantage anyhow :D

Yeah, the distance is still the same, the game cut all further away sounds.
And in fact sometimes it works worse, because the ambient sound is at very high volume that the footsteps are lot less heard :)
I don't like FRAPS (the free one shows FRAPS letters).
But I also get a lot of errors on servers like:
FacePunch authorization timed out and something about an exception on some kind of object (I believe this is something badly coded, as lot's of people say they also get those erros).

I've played with all those settings and never had an issue. Strange that changing anything in the config file would get you banned or whatever.

thats what i'm saying, i was literally on the server, and left the game JUST to check that footstep thing, restart game and bam cant join server, so it cant be anything else.

I think is what he means is, if you have a virus and your system backs up a restore point, upon restoration your computer will still contain said virus. Though you could try the resore point before the current one.
I myself have never needed to use on my own computer because im cautious of what im doing. But i have used it on many other computers ive repaired when ive not had a spare win disc.
Imo if your always better off with a full format and reinstall in the case of viruses. As for anything else windows repair normally works.

i'm not sure whats the problem but thats THE ONLY THING i did b4 starting game again after closing it like 1 min ago :D, about viruses, i dont download anything anymore from internet and i've not had viruses for more than year already i dont even use antivirus so its not a big difference i just never used system restore and not going to so i dont care about it.

BTW, I get those errors:
(sry for the quality on the last pic. I realized I had saved it as jpg only after uploading, I didn't bothered taking one more SS...)
Those errors are always appearing in almost every servers :( (already reported them).
They say it's because of those DDoS attacks, but my friends could join a server and I always can't showing that error (some servers work well, some don't :) )
ps: Hope they manage to fix this problem soon

And sometimes I enter in the server is OK, sometimes it just doesn't enter in the server and show that in the console.

If it's just that server alone then the Game/Auth is failing to authenticate correctly.

For Facepunch_Connector_AuthTimeout, the best solution seems to be rejoining the server.
Just try to connect like 10 times, and you will get in.

Viruses are the very reason that you SHOULD enable System Restore. When your system gets a tough virus that cannot be removed using any other method, the next step is to try to restore it to a point before the virus was on the computer. If you don't have System Restore enabled, then you're SOL. You've now got no choice but to do a full format of the hard drive.

A SystemNullRef could be anything tbh.. those are kinda hard to tell apart. During my years of programming GameServers and getting those kind of errors.. they could be ranging from incorrect script linking, bad method calling.. so on.

If you have a virus, more so trojans, a system restore wont help. It will still be embedded in your system, maybe a route around in your regedit and you may be able to delete it, thats if you know what your looking for.
A complete reinstall is mostly the only thing to do to correctly restore your computer. Obviously this isnt the case for all viruses but its the rule not the exception unfortunately.

I've had a similar error like yours a few times, and as far as I can tell it seems like it's a bug with the Server Browser. It fails to get the selected item in the browser, trying to rejoin a few times have worked for me.

He shouldn't be using System Restore to take care of viruses. His antivirus should take care of that.
System Restore is for when you screw up your own settings or if an application corrupts settings and you need to rewind it.

Windows system restore should be avoided.
If you don't know, there's actually lot's of undetected virus that get stored on system restore, and exactly after you use it you will activate it.
Also lot's of programs go wrong after a system restore. Sometimes it create more problems than fix them (it really depends).
If you want to be safe, when you have your windows pretty clean, have all your programs and last drivers installed, make a full image of your system.
Then you can always restore the PC to the state of when you make the image.
ps: there's lots of good tools to make a image of your system and restore it later too. And anyway I don't know why would you want to use system restore after changing the game files. You can just reinstall the whole game.
