I've made a video on this but to sum it up here it is. Now with the decay mechanic the small stash with decay and disappear in less than 24 hours. So hiding your stuff with a small stash somewhere in the hills is now unreliable because if the server goes offline or you can't log in, your small stash decays and you lose everything. Check out my video on it.

Also if any developers see this, please make the small stash decay time about 3 days. The small stash is an amazing way to store your items because you can hide them in plain sight. It would be nice if the small stash didn't decay so fast.

Too bad that the small stash decays so fast. It is currently the only secure way to store your items from hackers and glitches. Unlike in a house a stash has to be found to get raided and they are very hard to find. Storing stuff in your house isn't that secure as you get raided daily due to the amounts of C4 that are available.

I think the small stash pot would be much too over powered if they didn't decay, or took 3 days to decay. Feels balanced how it is. You get a crazy good hiding spot that's tough to find, but you have to farm leather intensely in order to replace them at least once a day.

    can you explain it please?
e.g. i would like to set the decay only for stashes to disappear after 48 hours..

how can I specify a certain object? E.g. I'd like different times for each item (box, large box, stash, wood wall, wood door, wood stairs, metal stairs etc.)

i guess they decay fast because they can be easily made and abused if used in extreme amounts

Agree. I had small stashes hidden off a foundation and they decayed. What's the point of a small stash if you hide them and they decay so fast?

From my knowledge this is not established yet, however I do believe server decay rate should be based on the server population as the rate of people building/leaving is stable compared to smaller servers.

The small stash does only decay in such a small time when placed outside of a foundation, keep it in your house near the roof (yes you cann actually place em on the side of the wall by the top sticking out of the wall >:> ) doing so will for one stop decaying of it as long as you use the house (open doors etc) and is just as good of a hiding spot if done corectly.

plus when you place it on the wall it seems it doestn render (bcomes visible) before your bsaicly right under it ;)

Is this something that's changed with recent updates? Up to about 10-12 days ago I had some small stashes on rocks (hidden in tree branches/trunks) in a server where I'd used them for many days without them disappearing (and never repairing them) - can you please clarify when this may have changed?

I was hoping to use them as hidden treasure in trees and stuff on my new server (my be a hunt with clues lol), since they're one of the few items you can place on top of wooden objects (which can be stacked), destroy the underlying objects and they'll stay floating.

I'm not exactly sure when they changed it but it did really make the small stash useless. To the people that say they would be overpowered if they didn't decay so fast, well this game strongly favors the raider and having a secure way to hide your items isn't overpowered. It makes the game playable and more enjoyable as you do not get raided every day. I've been raided so much that it discourages me from playing. It's frustrating to lose everything over and over again.

For the people that say that it's good since they decay quickly, it's not a good thing. They were meant as an alternate way to store your stuff. They aren't overpowered but actually a lot more practical than storing items in your house. Too bad they are broken.

    They have 3 slots.

I don't care how hard to find or see they are.

It's inconvenient and there's almost no single item apart from maybe C4 that's worth going to all that trouble for.

You're better off building a base on the wrong side of mount neverust and going for a walk every day than you are trying to hide all your valuables in a couple dozen stashes.

You can build a base anywhere on the map and it can still be raided. Bases also take a lot of supplies and its really easy to raid them. Small stashes are better in my opinion.

Mate, there's been at least one time where I was raided twice (two different bases) in the space of two days, where the only reason I could keep going was because I used stashes and put them in well-thought-out locations. You can hold 750 planks in one, that's the equivalent of gathering almost 100 wood resource piles; they're also small so it's easy to stuff, say, three side by side hidden inside one tree branch/trunk, or in a rocky niche behind some grass. They're also fantastic for storing anti-raid kits; have one or two hidden nearby each of your sleeping bags containing either a set of armor and gun/ammo, maybe some large medkits (whatever you think will help you when repelling a raid).

Even if you're not hiding them, just laying out a few lines of them on the floor of an internal room, they have the benefit of being inaccessible/invisible to cheaters unless they can get very close (practically in the same room).

With a bit of effort, you can even put them up in trees, since they stay where they are placed even when the objects underneath them are destroyed - wood boxes/shelter/barricade, for example. I think you're underestimating the resourcefulness and possibilities of this item, which in turn minimises your appreciation of the impact which this decay change may have.
