Could be an interesting concept, though could introduce problems like generators being destoryed/stolen perhaps? Or if placed inside, could introduce a new element called Carbon Monoxide (If that applies to a fat based oil, not to sure and don't really care) or gas poisoning. Could be adapted with camp fires and stoves to?

generators are unrealistic. It's the middle of nowhere. Where are you gonna get supplies to build a generator? I settle for placeable torches, or even candles

Some power could be obtained by magnets, coil and sticks?

Realistically, you can mount/glue neodymium magnets on a plate mounted to a stick and have it spin around copper coil. The movement of the magnets spinning quickly around coil generates small amounts of electricity.

Some magnets can be mined as well, though not sure about neodymium magnets.

I just put furnaces in my house and add wood, lot of resources but adds lighting =] Just turn it off when u don't need it.

You say that generators are unrealistic? I think however that all of the military weapons and explosives are a lot more unrealistic in this scenario.

A generator is more realistic. And its a really good idea to be honest.

i think i read somewhere that there are plans for some sort of electrical systems like in gmod but a little simpler.

i like the idea..but yeah as primitive as possible is good

i really dont think is unrealistic if u take a battery and add an hand used power generator then u have power to light url lamps + the first hand powerd generator was invented in 1790 or something.
i mean it does not have to power a microwave or something only a few lamps so u may protect ur house even at night

I think that'd a great idea. A generator would add a very unique aspect to the game and could be part of the raiding structure. You would need to kill a generator in order to open some doors, bypass electric fences, kill lights, etc
