He gets to help fund a forum he regulates while assisting you in your quest to become an even bigger shitposter.
Win, win situation, really.
Long story short, rule #1 of Rust is "trust no one". Rule #2 is "while you're re-reading rule #1 I'm going to come and smash you with a rock".
Great rules.
Well I'm generally friendly as far as I can be (especially to apparent new players) but if you came that close to me going 'haaay' over and over I would either kill you or run. Several apparent 'new players' have blasted me with a shotgun all of a sudden, so coming that close is a definite existential threat.
Pretty funny to watch though.![]()
Yeah the thing about rust is you cant see whether a player has a weapon as they can hide it so you can't trust anyone!
Yeah the point of the video was to annoy people and surprisingly more people spared me rather than killed me. Thanks for the feedback though!
it's not that simple, it's not a reading servers name problem. I rented my own server and that doesn't help that much. You can put that is a PVE server, people don't care. So you disable PVP, than people start to raid all the time beucase they can't get stopped. So you disable the sleepers to help a little bit... but it's like chase your own tail, people complain and then you put PVP on because nobody likes to watch a guy getting all their stuff, then people abuse because PVP is on...
but at the end of the day, same stuff happens over and over and my server ban list gets larger than the avg player pool on it.
I kill people for looking at me so his response is legitimate. Why even question it?
Edited:
You would rate that dumb Crunch. Getting put in your place is a bitch isn't it?
I love how you focused on him spending $5 to support this forum / the devs and changing your title as your rebuttal.
Typical. Sad day when you're more predictable than a woman's period.
so, a quick story from playing on a friend's server.
My friend gets a new server, sets it to half craft.
Since there are less then 10 people playing this server, all of which (well, 90%) are on teamspeak, I decide to go rogue and fight them. We have several good fights and it was all fun as such. I get on TS a few days later (had not been on since I went rogue) they said somthing to the effect of "Man, we where getting kind of bord just building, and the time you attacked us (mind it was 1 v3, but I am good at FPS games and they are Ok at them so it was relatively even) was the most fun we have had in a long time"
I also had one of them camp my door, but I was able to take better cover than he and killed him in the end. He was so excited to get the jump on me (I had gotten the jump on him every time before) that he forgot to reload his weapon before he saw me (but I did not see him until he started shooting).
TL;DR, just building and hunting zombies gets old fast, but the fights between players that gives you 'fear' and a bit of an adrenaline rush is what makes this game fun.
This is true, but I think the community goes a bit far. It seems like everyone is a troll, griefer, or a KoS player. It would be fun to be able to build up and get in some fights. But what ends up happening on the servers I've managed to get on is just silly. People will build towers all over the place, sit up there in a bolt action, and just shoot everything that passes by. Nearly everyone raids, so it's to a point where you either have to be a dick and raid everyone else in order to participate in any normal amount of PvP or else you have to spend all of your time farming and dodging everyone just to get raided or killed anyways. I'd like to meet some people on PvP and make a community or get in on some action, but I'd rather not spend my entire game running around nude with a rock. Like has been mentioned on trello, these servers are having a problem with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. I wouldn't be surprised if the DDOSing and high levels of hacking are from people who are sick of the community and just want a way to have the power to mess with the people who relentlessly messed with them.
I'll just keep looking for a server that has a decent community. I'm bound to bump into a decent human being outside of a PvE server eventually. I'm just amazed at how hard they are to find. Too many asshats.
On all the servers I have played on, this has not happend. However I don't play on the 50+ player servers.
The current rust map is not big enough to really support more than 30 people logged at the same time IMO.
As for the 'rich getting richer' thing, that does not really happen as the rich become targets for the poor to raid, I have gone from poor to rich to poor back to rich without the server being wiped... All you really need is to learn the items to craft and you will never really be poor again, just make a new hiding spot and craft a new set of weapons, go back out on the prowl.
The DoS attacks where french kids who wanted server files, and the hackers -well- they are just hackers (like in every game that has come about on the PC, and most consoles).
the 'asshats' you refer to are just playing the game how gary wants the game to be played TBA and since you can't tell if that nakkid dude has nothing on him or a M4 / shotgun ready to put lead into your face, while the penalty for death is rather high, you can't leave things to chance. that and getting 40 ore off some dude for just a few bullets is a good deal for the attacker.
No offence but from your examples, your just not playing smart...
See a tower in the distance, Maybe you should not get close enough to it to be in rifle range (the bolt action does have long range, but its not that long, about 150 meters... and thats half the range of a real life M4)
raiding people is not being a dick, thats the current end game. What do you want to do? Stock pile as many resources as possible to do... what? nothing? build a base to the sky? no, it should be so you can afford to go out with a 4 slot M4, a 4 slot shotgun and a full set of kevlar with a handful of charges and not really care when you lose them in a fight.
people griefing buildings is BS, that much I do agree on. I have a feeling that when the bases have an 'ownership' setting we will be able to remove stuff like pillars on our base very easily.
it seems that alot of PvE only players 'issues' are really non issues, and more that they are just bad and don't know how to play the game all that well... I never spend a majority of my time nude with just a rock, I always have been able to craft up a bow and start working to a 9mm pistol and a decent little fort within 1 day in game.
Hahahahah well I better hide!
Note: Saying "Hey" mindlessly is annoying. If you act like a human you might find a good Rust community to play with.
I'm not naming examples of things that have happened specifically to me. I usually just get killed as a sleeper. Except for a few servers where people roam the entire map killing everything in sight. And the naked argument hasn't been very valid from what I've seen. If you're going one way and he's going the other way he's not really a threat. What I see happening is people specifically targeting them and chasing them down. Not, "oh, this naked is following me and acting suspicious" rather "there's a naked, I'm going to go kill him."
Raiding people who have properly set up is one thing, but my experience has been people coming to my shack and breaking it down. I was lucky that I already had a pistol so that was easy enough to solve, but it doesn't really help the overall situation anyways. It's been more like an all out death match in CoD in my experience than a survival game. And I can attest to having one naked attack me with a shotgun, while there are hoards of people in kevlar and leather chasing me to the end of the earth with guns. Luckily most can't shoot for the life of them but you do get a few who are good enough to kill you.
In a lot of the servers I've been in, as well, they've been pretty developed. Avoid a tower? Enjoy the wasteland. If they'd add in a feature to stuff my face with grass I'd be set. Usually the largest servers I play on are about 50 people. They've pretty much all been the same though. There are no friendlies, and since nobody trusts each other you quickly run out of things to do. Sure, you can build a fort, have a gun, and armored up in a day. But then people have lives and can't put in a solid 8 playing this game to farm up to a good position to do any raids. Once you're logged off it's pretty safe to say that everything you've done is going to be destroyed by the time you log on again. After a couple weeks of the same thing over and over again, without any updates, I just can't see continuing. It's the same thing every day. Get a bow, make armor, make a shack, get a bed, make a furnace, make a bench, make a gun, build a proper house, have to go get off. Log back on, in a random field, rinse and repeat. I don't see any longevity in that. And since your only option is to run when you see anybody, I don't see there being a chance to get with a group anytime soon.
Hopefully the updates keep it interesting at least.
Seriously, how can you survive on a survival game if you let everyone you see live? The reason I kill bambies (noobs) is because I often run around with a pistol or shotgun while naked farming resources. I've killed naked sleepers before and got a 250 stack of 9mm ammo, which isn't a lot but it's something. I kill live bambies sometimes because they have resources that I'm trying to gather, or they'll try to kill me. It's as simple as that. I do not trash talk though. That's just childish. I do my business and leave.
Set a maximum limit of 2 weapons on your hotbars at any time.
Set a 5 sec fixed timer for putting weapons on your bars.
Show carried weapons on your back.
No more killing nude dudes.
Well this is showing stuff about the rust community. Is it great?
A lot of people get banned from most forums.
Not that many :(
I have no complaints about Rust players in game, it's a game after all. Now the new Rust players that are now using this forum? That's a different story.
So true. Some people on the forums are complete dicks.
Honestly, if some naked ran up to me going HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY and just stood in front of me, I'd kill them too just for the sake that they're stupid and irritating.
Rust is a survival PVP game. The entire point of the game is to kill each other. If you're naked, that means you're defenseless. If you have tons of resource son you, it would be faster and more efficient use of energy if I simply kill you and take your stuff instead of harvesting it on my own.
Don't like it? Go play WoW on a PVE server.
Yeah, I was about to say, after watching the video, someone behaving like that would likely annoy some people, and/or make some people paranoid. He was running up on people, standing really close and so forth while saying nothing more than 'hey' repeatedly. That alone may have contributed to at least one of those deaths, if not more.
He wasn't naked. In the new patch you spawn with trousers on.
