    *UPDATE

So I also just made a video called the ''hey'' challenge and this is basically where I go up to people and say hey to them and see if they hit/kill me within 15 seconds. This was not really a fair test and it was mainly for a comedic purpose but check it out as you can see some of the nice people in the rust community and some of the mean peoploe. In this video I walked up to people UNARMED so they didn't really have a reason to kill me so remember that.

It has nothing to do with the community or it being your "fault". It's a survival game, you existing is a threat to other people's survival.

If you want to survive longer at the start find a more secluded place to build your shelter, and run from anyone you see. If they tell you to stop they wont shoot run even further.

The dayz community isn't that bad. TBH I have had worse experiences on rust than on dayz because at on dayz you can roleplay. Yeah I know its a survival game but me and my friends have been killed by other players more times on rust than on dayz. And I got killed twice within 7 minutes of doing my LP.

Actually the exit is up because I have to click on the x to get rid of this page. I used to think rust was a much better survival game until I got killed every 5 seconds at spawn while in dayz I got killed every 20 seconds and people usually didn't kill me... just handcuffed me. I do love rust but some of the admins on the servers are just

BTW I like the killing just sick of people telling those who don't that this isn't a game for them when clearly you feel its a new call of duty and maybe its not for you

You can not really blame the last guy for killing you... you kinda earned it. Always assume not friendly. From the number of shacks I assume you played on a public server. Resources are so scarce on public server most people KOS, including me (when on public servers.)

So long story short I do not appreciate you implying the the community is bad based on a few poor choices on your part. (public server, not looking around when you hear foot steps, and antagonizing other players)

For a better game experience join a server with no admin abuse (hard to find), and find a server with no hackers (even harder to find) The average player is not bad.. it is the hackers and the abusive admins that are the problem... you cannot avoid the hackers, that just a fact. You do have a choice of which server to join to avoid admin abuse.

Hope this helps improve your game play experience. Don't blame the whole community for a few bad eggs in the bunch.

tbh if you don't like a server then change server till you find a decent server there are a few around where newbies have a city which are off limits for players to base rape so you can get to know the game and learn things to survive before going out and facing pvp :P

On the first rust server I played on, everyone was friendly to each other. After I was 'teched' up and had a good size base, I did not have much to do but start raiding and shooting people.

The second server I joined, I was playin with a good group but there where plenty of 'badguys' around. that was a milion times more fun as I had to watch my back when out gathering, and we had plenty of raid targets.

    as for killing 'new spawns'

Just because someone is nakked does not mean they don't have a M4 on them. That also does not mean they don't have a lot of resources on them as well. I have had nakked peoples run up on my base as advanced scouts, and I have done the same thing myself. I have also had nakkid people ask for food, and then take a shotgun out and blast me. its more of a defense to kill everyone than to leave it to chance at this point.

there really is no truth in OPs point, other than since you can't see externally what they have in their inventory and you die so quickly in this game to begin with, the best defense is to have no one around you - easiest way to make that happen is to kill anyone you come across.

Out of curiousity, for all those complaining about killing new spawns... how does one tell that a person is a new spawn, or that they really do not have any inventory other than the starting rock, torch and bandage?

    In short, you *can't*.

I've been shot in the face by someone pretending to be naked. Holding up a torch, and then surprising me by pulling out a gun last second.

How does one protect against that?

In short, you *can't*... other than to kill on sight.

So until the game comes up with a way to identify friend or foe... in my honest opinion, it's kill or be killed. Rust... the survival game. ;)

and this is where Rust fails as a survival game. Humanity survives because of its protect each other mentality. yes we have the bad apples and wars hence the PvP but the reason for so many "bad apples" is in a real survival game if you die you would lose everything .. but in rust you still know all the bp.. you still have backup gear at home so you don't need to group up .. but if every time you died you started completely over couldn't open your own doors anymore since that person is really dead.. people would start grouping up more sharing knowledge and protecting each other so that they are in turn protected. So the game becomes COD because there is no real penalty for death

Earth. I know it seems preposterous at first, but take a moment and think about it: what is a nation, at its core?

It's a group of people that band together to protect each other. That's what tribes were back in the day, then cities, then countries, then empires. It's all the same thing.

An individual is far weaker than 100,000 individuals. And Rust doesn't really emulate this well because, unlike in the real world, death isn't permanent. People get blue in the face shrilly insisting that the bloody free-for-all that is Rust is somehow "realistic" but in reality, if death was permanent, people would be a lot less keen to go attack everyone they see.

Side note: Ironman servers would be AWESOME. You die? You get banned from the server. Game over, man. Game over. (Or for a slightly less severe form, you lose your blueprints and lose access to your stuff, including hidden stashes.)

Thank you I was fearful that I was the only reasonable one left on this planet.. Pflame seems to think that the world is COD .. I would like to know how often you get shot at on a daily basis Pflame.. im not talking about game I mean in your real life.. I am guessing its 0. most likely 0 for your whole life.. why is that? oh because man banded together and made laws and protect eachother from random violence.. give your head a shake

@op; you were around the hangar, a general PvP hot zone where everyone fights over the crate spawns.

If you're wanting some space, get away from the road and all the crate spawn locations
