Last night I was playing in a server. The game crashed and subsequently I couldn't rejoin the server because the loading screen gets stuck on "waiting on character" and gives this error: "condition still not met.controllable.localPlayerControllableExists == true (x frames later)", where x increases every time the message is given.

I'm running Windows 7. I can join any other server just fine. Other players can join this server but not me. My internet connection has not recently decreased in quality. Tried reloading Rust and rebooting. My ping to the server in question is 43. Any suggestions?

trust me bro am having exactly the same problem and i posted a thread here hours ago, no one gave me any solution or any help. :)

Extra: Black screen when logging in, can't do anything but watch, can see others typing and can hear sounds.

The black screen happened to me once. I pressed escape and it brought up the menu, and restored screen visibility. Then I just pressed escape again to get back into the game.

A friend of mine got stuck on the original error. In Steam try doing an integrity check on your local rust content.

I'm not having the black screen problem. I did the integrity check and it was fine.

I have the EXACT same issue, SUPER frustrating tried every single thing to fix it, no fix in site.

TO FIX THIS ISSUE YOU NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING.

Redownloading the game will not work, Nor will scanning of his or her files. This has to be done by a server admin who has ftp access.

Find out the persons Steam ID who is having this issue on the specific server.
Once you have the Steam ID of the person, Find their steam ID folder under the folder location: /save/myserverdata/userdata

Inside the userdata should be folders of the steamID of that user delete it. it will fix his problems and allow him to log back in.

Yep, but its also the only way for that person to get back in, I think some how the file avatar.bin file gets corrupted. Or at least a line does that finishes the character log in location.

When this happened to me on my server, I was still in game could still see chat, hear sounds but the GFX would not display.

This method doesn't seem to work for me. In my "myserverdata/userdata" directory, none of the subdirectories there match the steam ID a user gave me. I can't even find mine...

Admin said he wiped my profile/files as per this post and I still cannot join. I've even asked my team mates to destroy my body in-game. Does the server first need to be restarted or something for this profile "changes" to take effect?

UPDATE: I can get into the game if i wait long enough but everything is black, my HP is on 100, and food (shows it is full but) on 0. Sometimes I actually log in but my inventory is completely empty (not even a rock) and no NPCs or other players are visible, I can also walk underneath the see, radiation doesn't go up. Like I am the invisible invincible

Alrighty, I just started getting this on my server

I have deleted my char folder and have restarted the server but I still can't login.

I can join other servers fine
