Post #1So a mate of mine got banned from a server because he shot the admin ten times in the head at pointblank range but the admin took no damage at all...he must have been afk and upon his return he turned around and killed my mate with his uber hatchet. When my mate called him out on using god mode and the uber hatched he was banned.
My question is why are the "admin tools" essentially just hacks/cheats?? they can teleport to you with god mode on and kill you instantly. When they get called out on this they just ban the person they have cheated against, This all seems a bit unfair.
I think the admins should have these "tools" removed from the game ASAP as it is game breaking IMO.
I know we have to deal with hackers in general but i dont think we should have to put up with Admins abusing their tools.
My mate who this happened to now has no desire at all to even play the game which is a real shame because i think this game has some great potential.
Please Please Please at least think about removing these tools..

You're playing on their rented server. They could pretty much do whatever they want. Stick with official servers if you want a fair game.

Yea he was playing on a rented server and i get that admins can run their servers how they want to but i still dont think they should have access to these kinds of tools in the game...
They should have the right to kick and ban people but i dont think they should have god mode and weapons of mass destruction.

Oh no, people who own their own servers are doing whatever they want! You can't be serious, you're pretty much asking the game developers to nullify the point of custom servers.

Welcome to alpha testing. Balance is a planned feature, not a current priority.
Also, it's the admin's turf, if they want to ban you from their server they can. Would you complain to Valve if some random TF2 server admin was a dick?

Not entirely true. There are many community servers who have admins that DO NOT abuse their power. On my server, the Admins stream their play every time they are on just to prove that fact!! You can even join them in team speak.

No, the point of a custom server is to allow the owner to play on his own server and do as he wishes. It is HIS server, if you don't like what he is doing in his own server, you can disconnect and go somewhere else.

im not really complaining that the admin was being a dick i am just saying that they shouldnt be able to use God mode and special weapons
I know its easy enough to just play on another server just get rid of these admin tools i reckon

I do have to apologize for the hostility, now that you're trying to explain things rationally. The rust forum has taken it's toll on my mental sanity.
Either way, admins are supposed to have these tools at their disposal, because they're admins. Unless the server is advertised as 'no admin abuse, legit play' and etc, then you leave the server and tell other people not to join due to false advertising.

I think but am not 100 percent sure that the server did say no admin abuse but in any case i think the admin didn't have these tools there wouldn't be a problem. Correct me if i am wrong but i don't know of any other game that gives the admin the right to use god mode.

Every single multiplayer game out there? Launch Garry's Mod right now and join any server. There are admins who have all the admin powers possible. If he pisses you off, you leave and go somewhere else.

ok fair enough i have never played garry's mod but i used to run a dayz server and i never had an option to use god mode on or atleast i didn't see an option for it

they pay for the server, they make the rules, you don't like it play on the official ones. you have no right to dictate what some one can or cant do with a server they pay for.

Even if you take the tools away they will find mods that allow them to do that in the future if it possible.
At the end of the day it up to the owner what happens and what rules can be broken and uphold. If the owner want to be god one day and a man another it's up to them.

I'm fairly sure the Bohmeia engine doesn't actually have a "god mode", it's a simulation engine first and foremost, it has little to no need for one. And if it did, just because the admin "tools" don't expose it, doesn't mean it isn't there. People would find a way to access it or emulate it if they needed it.

Anyway i have had my rant and the devs can take it or leave it...its just as easy to go play another game...
Remember though the post isnt about admins losing their powers. I only wanted the devs to have a look at what is going on with the tools that the admins have right now

Its a private server that someone besides the OP pays for. The owner has every right to ban who ever they like from their server period.
The sense of entitlement coming from the OP is astounding, go play on official servers or rent your own. I have a very strong feeling the OP is nothing more than a server troll who deserved to get banned, this is what happens when you spoil your children.
Problems admins face in Rust
1 no player list with names, player IDs, or IPs
2 can't ban funky names even if you find them
3 hacking is off the hook
4 horrible player base full of spoiled, self entitled children
I have a hypothesis that if admins were given the tools needed to police their servers properly they this game would lose 50% of it playerbase. This isn't my first rodeo, I have been hosting servers for community players for sometime and this has to be one of the most immature player bases I have seen in a long time.
Game is great fun when it runs good, has tons of potential but please for the love of god give us the tools to manage a respectable community on our private servers.

it's the same bullshit going on, like in minecraft and other small games, there every douche, that rents a server, calls him self an admin, meanwhile he is just a normal player with god mode. They got nothing to do, they got no real admin work, they're just bored. Sure there are some smart ppl, that can mod the servers, that help ppl, but these ppl dont even have real tools to do their work properly!
